Squid Game: The Challenge (2023)
It is ok, but not Squid Game
The games are fine and I like that they made new games for the show. The "tests" between the games started ok but just turned into ways to eliminate players without the need to play more games. There is no "using your wits" or relying on your enemies, it becomes a chance. The players tend to be unlikeable and all want to say how they're a victim and had a "bad childhood", the social bit just makes people try more to be sympathetic. The problem with adding a social element to the game, is the game suddenly becomes only about socialising. The people were already naturally making pacts and alliances to keep each other going, but you add this social bit between and it becomes another survivor, which is old and tired. I understand you can't just go in and shoot players at night to get the numbers down, but this way is dumb and ruins the game.
The Big Nailed It Baking Challenge (2023)
Not the old show, but ok
I was excited to see this show, especially after reading Nailed It! Was cancelled. I'm not sure exactly what this is supposed to be, a serious show or like the old show. The show has some comedy aspects thanks to Nicole and some of the guest judges. This show is good for learning tips from the influencer bakers, but you don't get tips from Jacques and he clearly more serious in this show. It is missing the charm and fun of the old show and I'll rewatch the old series a lot more before I'll rewatch this one. I really hope Netflix brings back the old version of the show, it was just a lot more fun.
Nobody Speak: Trials of the Free Press (2017)
Unfocused and bias
This presents itself as a documentary about Hulk Hogan's lawsuit against Gawker, what it actually is, is about 30 minutes of the lawsuit and the rest about how evil Trump, Republicans, and mostly right wing connected wealthy people are evil and after you and the "unbiased" press. I'm not a Trump fan at all, but this is a long overblown film about how holy the press is and how the right wig is coming to get you, mostly Trump. The press fails to recall its own history of selective journalism during wars, epidemics (AIDS coverage comes to mind), world politics. World War II the press activity reported the war as the President wanted it. Even now, they seem more concerned about getting it put first rather than honestly. The film brushes over actual concerns of money influencing what is reported, but again it's only pushed against right wing people. The media, both sides, are very biased and push what they want you to believe and this film ignores the left wing influence.
The View (1997)
The worst
When the show originally started, it was actually decent and had different points of view. This show now is just 5 crazy liberal women screaming their opinions and bashing or screaming over anyone that dares to disagree with them. They rarely seem to have actual studies or fact to back up their beliefs, rather relying on volume and the other four saying their right. Judging by the rating, I'm surprised it is still on.
Attack of the Hollywood Clichés! (2021)
Suggestion of humor just to get woke nonsense
This show starts off well enough, a few good points made with humor and a bit of background of some of the cliches. Then it just turned woke. I'll give you the run down. All cops are bad, white people are evil, white people abuse POC, POC's are only around to serve and help whites, gay people are expendable, if you're gay then you'll probably die but that's the only way you'll get an Oscar nod. Don't waste your time.
Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel (2021)
Longer than it needed to be.
I watched this because of the hotel's reputation and of course Elisa Lam's passing. I was expecting a mystery detective story, what I got was a bloated 4 part series full of internet nonsense and idiots to pad it out. Thus could've been 2 episodes possibly 3 if all the nonsense was kept to a minimum. It seems they really want you to understand the insanity of the internet and their cancel culture and bullying due to no proof and youtubers spreading their ideas as fact with clear ignorance of how investigations happen in the real world, but most of the last 2 episodes are full of these people and it's cut like fact. The introduction of Morbid and what the internet did to him, could've been done without all the extra nonsense. It isn't hard to feel bad for the guy or Lam's family. At the end of it, you get the feeling that the internet maybe accepts how Lam passed away, but hasn't really learned anything as they just make excuses for their behaviour.
