Sata Lota Pan Sagla Khota (2015)
Superb Screenplay Writing. Pathetic Direction.
The basic thumb rule of storytelling is, "Show. Don't Tell" and the movie breaks that in the first intro only. Monologues after monologues to explain backstories to the viewer. Uggghhh! Who directed this nonsense?
Extremely boring and lazy storytelling. Could have been better....
But proper marathi jokes, dialogues, overall well-done screenplay writing saves it a bit.
Everyone's over-acting is okay. The genre, targeted audience and overall tone of the movie demands it.
Just storytelling and direction could have been a little more competent.
Rest is fine. A few hours of mindless fun. Nice!
Superbad (2007)
Good movie to watch
Usually I am not much for a teenagers movie. But this one takes the cake. Really good movie. I dug a little. It seems like this is based on the real life experiences of the story tellers.
This is hilarious and totally not the same run of the mill teenagers movie.
The chemistry of Johan and Michael is really good. The ending is touching. I did not really see that coming for a movie which is about getting laid, booze and all teenager things.
Nice one. I kinda wish that there could be a sequel to this? A second part? Although it has been a while so I don't think there can be a sequel but one can never be so sure. Fingers crossed! :)

Sahebs Who Never Left - Part 1: The Origins (2022)
Well Researched, Presented and Daring Portrayal of History
What a documentary. Wow. There are no words.
What a commitment towards the nation that you guys are making this kind of awesome and daring stuff.
You guys have a fire within. More power to you.
Prachyam team, hats off to you guys. Onwards and upwards.
I started watching the documentary. And just kept on watching. Very well presented. Loved it.
I am looking forward to the second part of this.
I had only this much to say but LinkedIn apparently has a restriction where a review has to be 600 char long. Which is why I am stretching this review so long. I mean reeeaallly long. At a point I wondered why am I writing so much for a documentary that left me speechless.
Ok. Its done now.
Short summary: Great documentary movie. Must watch for every Indian. Take some dedicated time to watch this.
Chao.
Sandook (2015)
--Mild Spoilers Ahead--
An Amazing Movie. Great subject. Especially in the age of westernization in the name of modernization. In the age of people accepting anything and everything that comes from the west. From the food to ideas and philosophical beliefs.
A couple of obvious problems though.
First of all, NOT a believable and convincing McGuffin at all. A box opening the arsenal?? It feels futuristic and does not fit the tone of the film. Maybe a hidden key or something? There were a hundred different logical and believable ways it could have played out.
A cliched villain. Typical British officer. But a cliche becomes a cliche for a reason. It is based on reality. One could argue that history is much more bloodied than a family-friendly movie can portrait. But the character depth is lacking when it comes to the villain.
About the protagonist, one might wonder did the character is shown more dumb than necessary? Regardless, I guess it plays out well. Hats off for the performance of Sumit Raghavan, of course.
The Visuals are perfect, Drama is good. I skipped the Lavani and the romantic song between the protagonist and his spouse.
I wonder if the end should have been, the Protagonist goes underground with Madhav-Rao and family has to say goodbye but in a proud way; Showing viewers sacrifice and proud of a spouse and kid of a freedom fighter. And the emotional turmoil that comes with it.
Because, after Scott, some other officer would come, definitely.!
Regardless, a fantastic, fantastic performance from Sumit Raghavan, Sharad Ponkshe, Arun Nalavade, and all other casts.
Movies truly tell the gist of the culture. The unfortunate reality is that today, Indian culture is westernized. Not modernized, westernized. If westerns lift the barriers of entry, these fools will swim across the ocean just to visit western countries and forget the bloodied past like always.
While the western nations, villages sing songs about their history of 50 or 100 years of establishment, we forget the thousands of years of history and culture and the monuments in our backyard. That's a sad reality.
With all the things mentioned above, the movie still becomes successful in reminding you of the struggle and endurance of the freedom fighters in the small villages at that time.
Watch this movie with your family. Buy online. I guess it is available on YouTube. It's worth the watch.

Amazing Creation.!
Superb social message. Perfectly delivered. The villain is created in a magnificent way. You can really "understand" his motive. The story flows good. Movie steps up in the second half. Watch with the proper subtitles if you are not familiar with Hindi/Tamil.
It vows in the scientific facts in the fiction. They dared to talk about the "aura" It's a good experience seeing that.
Songs actually sync in the movie and the storyline and makes sense... That's a plus. Really captivating and pattern interrupting start of the movie.
Not to mention amazing 3-D experience. Produced really good. The cast is great. A must watch movie.
We want more movies like this. Indian Movie Industry is truly evolving.
