Zhao dao ni (2018)
Outstanding
One of the best movies i've ever watched.
Amazing performances by all casts.
The flashbacks are brilliant, it made us engage to the story very well.
Flaskepost fra P (2016)
Unjustified
The movie premise was very promising. Unfortunately from the interval it starts down sliding and flat.
This movie shows how bad is danish police reaction in handling this kind of cases. There is no sense of panic or responsibility from the entire team to help those kids. It's only Carl who has the emotion.
The villain cold blood and brutalility is just not justified by the police actions. How can be many well trained police staff can be easily beaten by a weak man who usually tortured women and kids only with scissor.
The ending is a relief but still cannot justify the whole movie.
The Light Between Oceans (2016)
The Worst Movie Ending I've Ever Watched
I've never watched a movie ending as heartless as this movie. I think that's the reason why this movie failed terribly in terms of box office and being overlook in award season. I feel pity for Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander effort. They gave one of their best performance in this movie but it was overshadowed by the worst ending. The blame all goes to Derek Cianfrance of course. Because he is the one who wrote the screenplay and direct the movie. The movie is so good before the ending comes. The movie shows a few signs as a hope for Tom and Isabel but it suddenly goes anti climax. If you don't want to give them happy ending, at least do not give any hope to the audience. If you want to give the ending as in the book then make the story as what written in the book, don't change the story then you give the ending as the novel.
Pendekar Tongkat Emas (2014)
A Colossal Disappointment
As an Indonesian, This is the movie that i've been waiting for like decades. Unfortunately the movie turns out to be completely different from what i expected. I thought it will bring back the memories of Indonesian classic Silat movies such as Saur Sepuh or Tutur Tinular with modern touch, sadly it was trapped by the producers ambition to make it looks so Hollywood which make it already failed from the beginning. There's almost no story in the movie, basically it's only about few characters, no supporting cast to add intrigues to the stories, the flashback is not working and looks hilarious. The pace is very slow til you bored and just wanted the movie to be end soon. Costume design and art direction are not attractive at all, especially when they declare that Perguruan Tongkat Emas is the biggest but the building is not more than a village farmer house. The cast of Eva Celia as the main character is a disaster, i'm not convinced by her acting, her body language still very much like Jakarta's teenage girl nowadays. As for Nicholas Saputra, he is playing the same Rangga character(from Ada Apa Dengan Cinta?) but this time with warrior costume instead of school uniform, such a wasted. My appreciation goes to Reza Rahadian and Tara Basro as Biru and Gerhana and also for the music score and cinematography. My words to Mira Lesmana and Riri Riza, please appreciate our Indonesian classic Silat movies legacy, don't ruin them with your ambition. I wish you will make another Silat movies in the future, bring back some of the legend actor in your cast and get some advice from those filmmakers to make the movie more Nusantara.
