Chesapeake Shores (2016)
Addictive but Bleh
After binging Virgin River, Netflix had the nerve to put Chesapeake Shores in the more like this section. And I fell for it.
I'm sorry to say it just didn't do anything for me. I am a sucker for romantic dramas. But CS just doesn't cut it.
I can't really put my finger on what is so wrong with the series. Seeing, I've binged it too. Only difference, I had to cringe too many times. At the acting, at the unattractiveness of some of the actors, at the small details.. pfff
Maybe it's all the changes; The dog, the O' Brien house and B&B in S1, or the changing of the name of Douglas' son from S2 to S3. (Very sloppy, as if we're too stupid to notice)
Or maybe its just the bad acting overall. I can't seem to get into the romance of Abby and Trace. Why the helldo they love eachother? Trace is always mad about something it seems. Always on the defensive.
Abby hasn't a clue what she wants. But apart from that, there's nothing special between them.
Gran has a personality disorder. Sometimes she's Irish, sometimes she's not.
Megan always seems to have an urge to go. She squints her eyes as if she constantly needs to go.
The only people making this series wortwhile for me are Kevin and Sarah, Jess and David and Bree.
Bree is the only one convincing me of her feelings a 100%.
Still. The story is nice. Producers just need to up their game.
Virgin River (2019)
A sweet drama without all the drama
I am a sucker for romantic dramas, and Virgin River hit all the right spots.
The plots aren't overly complicated and all the characters have their stories. It felt like everything was well thought through. The actors playing the characters are just WOW.
I wanted to kill Hope like all the time but she plays her character just great. She even had me hating Charmaine.
Jack is this brooding, handsome main character without all the cliche's. Mel has an annoying voice, but her acting is suberb. I could feel her pain in all the flashbacks.
Before I knew it, I binged the whole season and wanted more ASAP.
I really can't find any faults with this series, except for the fact that Netflix put Chesapeake Shores in the "more like this" section.
All in all, it really is a Must Watch.
