Poor man's V/H/S
28 May 2024
If somebody took this and told me that these were a few rejected segments that were presented to the producers of the V/H/S franchise; I would 100% believe it.

The editing looked like as if It was done over the course of 1 hour through Sony Vegas. The acting was so bad in some parts of the segments even by amateur found footage standards. The dialogue of the framing story seems like it was done by an edgy 12 year old that got a hold of microsoft word.

I can see why this movie is not very popular. I've seen much worse out there, but this is like saying the dump I took this morning smells better than the dump I took yesterday.

See for Me (2021)

What a waste of a good idea...
14 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Great concept ruined by absolutely stupid characters and garbage writing.

I felt more sympathy for the old blind man from Don't Breathe than our main protagonist here, that's how unlikeable she was. How exactly did 3 idiots plan to break into a home to steal millions of dollars and not a single one of them had a gun on them. How did a small blind girl take a gun from the floor beside a dead cop without any of them noticing. How did she walk around the house with the app on with Kelly talking on the phone's speakers without any of them hearing her....

Quite frankly, I think this would have been a lot more effective as a supernatural horror movie instead.

Night Teeth (2021)
8/10
I hate to admit it, but I loved this movie. This is one of my new favorite vampire movies.
5 December 2021
Had they have made this longer, went more in-depth about the lore , and took out the cringey cgi car scene (facepalm), I think this would have been even better. However, this movie is very solid and I'm happy to put this up there with Underworld/Blade/Dracula Untold/Bram Stoker's Dracula/Dracula(1931).

Since release, I have seen Night Teeth about 5 times now, and I am not tired of it. I love the atmosphere the movie creates, I found it to be very dark and engaging for a 14A movie. I love the cast, I love the acting. I never knew of Debby Ryan until I saw this movie because I never watched her in Disney/other movies/shows. She's got so much charm and a sense of mystery and elegance in this. Quite frankly, the relationship between Benny and Blaire make my knees go weak, and I'm a 29 year old grown man. Oh, and let's not forget Zoe. Zoe (Lucy Fry) is a mix of funny/badass/sexy/crazy all put into a blender.

This isn't Twilight, guys. Come on. This was good.

De Niro and Pacino Carried This Movie.
18 April 2021
I am shocked to see how this movie has an 8.2 score. It was one of the most generic action movies I have ever seen, and I would have forgotten it in a day if Al Pacino and Robert De Niro were not in this with their tremendous dialogue delivery and acting.

13 Reasons Why (2017–2020)
5/10
I tolerated Season 3, but 4 was just pointless. Watch 1 and 2 and just forget the rest.
22 June 2020
Season 1 was the best. Season 2 was a little behind it. Season 3 had it's moments but for the most part was obnoxious to go through. Season 4 was like they mixed a bunch of hot garbage in a blender. They literally could have taken about 2-3 episodes and just added them on to Season 3, made that the last one and literally nobody would have known the difference.

They (2002)
6/10
It doesn't deserve a 4.7. It's not splendid by any means, but it's not unwatchable.
14 June 2020
I remember seeing this movie back in 2007 on the Space channel. There was this thing called "Friday Frightmare" on there and they showed all kinds of horror movies every single Friday starting from about 8 pm all the way until morning. I was in high school at the time so I had a thing for staying up watching horror movies and I absolutely loved this movie back then.

After rewatching it today, I definitely started to see more problems that my ignorant teen mind did not back then. This movie is not bad, it's just nothing special. If someone were to ask me to give an example of a generic horror movie, They (2002) would be one of the best examples I can give. The title is bland, the poster for the movie is bland. I will tell you 100% that if I did not see this movie back then and instead saw it today for the first time, I would forget it the next day. I don't even remember the character's names. I just have the outline of the characters and their roles in my mind. I also remember certain scenes such as the pool, the subway, and the ending.

It would have been awesome if the creatures were a metaphor for something all the victims went through and went towards a more psychological approach. But we got no backstory, barely any relationship between everyone and no explanation on what the creatures were and why only they were marked. I think it was a wasted opportunity.

The best way to explain this movie is to tell you this: Imagine having a sandwich but with no meat, no mayo, no lettuce. It's only two slices of white bread that's nicely toasted.

Most Creative Plot Device: A Nail In The Stairs
9 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
After about 400+ days of being near-confined in that basement, not once did they see that large nail sticking up? I'm sorry; but how many times did they go up and down the stairs and not see that thing sticking out? Just imagine for a second if that nail wasn't there, that little metal spike was the harbinger of the chaos that ensued in the last 45 minutes.

There's other problems I have, but those are things that other people have already said hundreds of times, such as: The waterfall, putting a 4 year old monkey-brained child behind them, bringing a child into a world like this, and the government's top scientists couldn't figure out that these creatures are ultra-sensitive to high-pitched sounds yet an average family living under a farm with below-average technology figured it out.

Movie was overall entertaining, but it's really hard to suspend my disbelief at this contrived and lazy writing at times.

Bad Match (2017)
6/10
Got predictable halfway through. Still decent thriller.
30 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Maybe it's just me though. I watch so many thriller/mystery/horror movies that I start becoming Sherlock in my mind while watching. Not that you need to be as smart as Sherlock to figure out the twist at the end.

After our douchebag main character confronts our creepy stalker protagonist about the damage done to his life, you can tell what's up. Just think about who this guy is and how many other people don't like him, and from what's presented to us in the running time of this movie, you'll most likely figure it out before it punches you in the face.

With that said though, I'd just like to say that the ending of this movie is now in the top 3 of my "movie endings that pissed me off" list.

The Foreigner (I) (2017)
9/10
One of Jackie Chan's Best. The Man Still Has It.
21 May 2018
Nowadays, it's extremely rare to see an action/thriller movie that gives meaning to the action. The characters that fight and engage in a river of bullets and large explosions that open the mouth of hell itself should be for a good reason and give the viewer a chance to feel something for the character to why they're doing it. The Foreigner (2017) is a good example of a movie that does this perfectly.

Political corruption, moral atrocities, and innocent lives lost to unfair circumstances can be fought and changed by one man. The character of Ngoc Minh Quan portrayed by Jackie Chan is done extraordinarily well. One thing we all should keep in mind, a man that seeks revenge and has nothing left to lose is true terror. You will feel that in your mind as you're watching this movie from beginning to the end, I promise you.

Don't think about it too hard, otherwise you'll despise it.
14 May 2018
I promise you that after finishing all 5 seasons, if you pick it hard enough, there are so many plot holes that it will make your brain implode. About halfway into season 1 I started realizing how cheesy just about everything was. The writing, dialogue, special effects, and at times, the acting (Don't get me wrong, by the end I thought there were some really good performances). But it was still enjoyable enough to hook me in.

If you love the story of King Arthur, you will enjoy this, although I felt like some aspects of the real story were butchered to hell for a younger audience, I had to use my imagination to fill in damages to the story so that so I could enjoy it.

It's worth giving a chance, but if you don't get grabbed by the hook like I did, you're not missing out on too much.

The Grey (2011)
10/10
Watched by so many for all the wrong reasons due to misleading trailers.
20 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is not about Action, it's not about watching half a dozen men battle it out with a pack of wolves. It's not about seeing Liam Neeson wrestle to the death with an alpha wolf in the freezing snow.

Many fail to realize that this movie is an allegory for the struggles we face as we live our lives, and how every time something comes to challenge you between death and life you have to fight back and be strong.

By the end, you see his wife's dying on a hospital bed, her last words to him were "don't be afraid", telling him to be strong. This is where you realize why he's been contemplating suicide and how the world around him has become so cold. His life then flashes before his eyes with the unforgettable poem. That scene tears a hole in my heart every time I see it. I always cry until my eyes dry out at the last few minutes of this misunderstood movie.

You can talk about how unrealistic it is. About how poorly they showed how wolves act and the logic behind nature. But as far as I can tell, they already died when the plane crashed, them walking through the frozen wastelands of Alaska and getting picked off by the pack led by the black alpha wolf was them moving on one by one from purgatory as they slightly understood one another and what they've dealt with in their lives.

In the end, death is black and life is white, we all end up in the grey at some point.

Falling Down (1993)
10/10
A brilliant movie way ahead of it's time
17 July 2017
Whether you enjoyed this movie or not, you can't deny that at some point in your life, you will or you've already related to our anti- hero protagonist. You will face problems everyday, problems of all sizes, minor or major, and they will absolutely annoy you to the brink of losing your sanity.

Of course, every person will take it differently. Falling Down showed us how even a simple and decent human being could get frustrated by the obvious, gaping flaws of society.

I think it's safe to say that there is no coherent story, it's just about our main protagonist "D-Fens" (Michael Douglas) who's trying to get home for his daughter's birthday who was taken from him by his divorced wife. And he faces a plethora of obnoxious problems on the way which slow him down. Sounds pretty horrible and boring when you put it on paper, but this is a perfect example of a movie that's driven by dialogue and characters rather than an exciting plot.

You will feel all sorts of emotions while watching this due to the actions done and words spoken by our main character. At times you will feel this movie was a black satirical comedy, and at other times you will feel that this is almost like a fictional documentary about how foul our society is becoming.

I've seen this movie many times, and it feels like it gets better every time I watch it. 10/10

Dark Web (2016)

There is no word in the English language to describe how awful this was
25 May 2017
This makes the acting in The Room look Oscar-worthy. This makes the writing in Batman & Robin look like an allegorical novel. The sound dubbing could have been done better by brain-dead elementary school kids. Uwe Boll could have made a better movie with $10 and a crappy camera.

This is actually quite possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. See, at least with movies like The Room, Troll 2, and Manos: The Hands of Fate, you can still enjoy those despite it's obvious flaws. Those are so bad they make you laugh. This isn't even that. This is just a 90 minute torture test for your brain.

Because asides from the obvious painful flaws it has (writing, acting, horrible sound dubbing). During the movie you will have multiple questions to ask yourself such as "How did this have a budget of $1,000,000?" "What did they have to threat Danny Glover with in order to sign up for this abomination?".

Please, for the love of god, if you love your brain do not watch this foul, putrid waste of space on our plane of existence.

I promise you that if you look hard enough, there are porn movies out there 100x better than this.

Area 51 (2015)
3/10
So, you're telling me...
21 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
That Area 51, a government facility holding top secret answers about the very existence of intelligent life forms in our universe that could unleash chaos upon our world, has such terrible security that 3 average jackasses can sneak into it?

Okay I'll be honest, it all seemed believable when they were explaining how they were going to get near it and went through with it, but how were they walking around inside without getting caught? Does Area 51 not have security cameras and guards monitoring them 24/7? They were legit sneaking and walking around inside the base and no one notices this until near the end.

Like.....I know I said this already, but just stop and think for a second about how stupid this sounds.

A government facility, funded by unlimited amounts of money, which holds answers to hard questions we ask every time we look into the sky, has such terrible security that 3 average teens/young adults holding cameras could break into it.

..........'kay

Otherwise, the acting was passable, the special effects were great, and the found footage feel was there, I just couldn't get over how stupid the writing was.

The Cliché (2016)
10 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Middle class white American family, check. "Creepy" kid doing unusual stuff, check. Generic signs of a demonic presence such as hand prints/faucets turning on by themselves/doors opening by themselves, check. Family searches on the internet on what they're up against, check.

Oh, you want me to stop and write about the actual movie? Alright then.

Well, Other than the background story of the demons and the five stones, this is all the same garbage you've seen in just about every other horror movie to come out in the past 20 years. Some kid or character does something stupid, day by day things get worse, family calls supernatural investigators, they can't do much s***, family deals with it themselves somehow.

Unless you're 5 years old or you've been living under a rock and have never seen another horror movie in your life, the only thing about this movie that will scare you is what could have possibly been on Kevin Bacon's mind when he signed up to be in this train-wreck. The movie could have had one saving grace, but it was a missed opportunity. Because near the end, the ancient animal demonic avatars could have been horrifying if they actually tried, but when you finally see these 5 figures, you're not scared because you KNOW 100% that these are people with goofy looking masks, headdresses and costumes.

The only good thing I can say about this movie is Ilza Rosario's pretty face. But keep in mind, you have to go through over 70 minutes of boring garbage to see her for less than 10 minutes. Oh, the struggles...........

Wasn't expecting a masterpiece, but still disappointed
1 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
It's like the same old two original movies, just each of them cut down run-time, tone down the scares a bit, and a cheap plot device with a clichéd blind psychic girl sidekick to force them together for a disappointing 2 minute faceoff.

I'm proud to say I like Ju-On and Ringu, and I have always since middle school, but both of them suffer the exact same thing, terrible characters and stories overshadowed by decent scares. This movie is no exception. Actually, scratch a small part of that, there was ONE character that I was interested in, and that was Professor Morishige. His obsession with wanting to meet Sadako stroke my curiosity but we didn't find out anything because he got killed off halfway through.

All in all, I was somewhat excited for this movie because before it's existence I've always asked myself the same question. "What would happen if you watch that cursed videotape in that vile house of death?". Well my question finally got answered, and it was "lame disappointment".

Check it out if you're a fan of Ringu and/or Ju-On, but it's nothing spectacular.

Satanic (2016)
4/10
It's bad, but watchable
31 December 2016
Warning: Spoilers
The only two things that stopped me from giving this movie a lower rating is the very small twist near the end which I thought was pretty cool, and also it was still mildly entertaining.

The story is the same cookie-cutter premise you see in almost every other horror movie, a group of idiot teens doing one questionable thing after another which results into painful consequences, and of course if you pick it hard enough you'll find gaping holes.

The characters are forgettable, bland and punchable. I would say they're stupid too but it's a horror movie. That's like ordering a cheeseburger and complaining there's cheese in it. You kind of expect it. The only thing I liked about the cast was the acting, it was pretty decent and believable, but asides that it's the same thing you've seen many times. Out of our 4 main characters, we got two overly adventurous idiots (Seth and Elise), and we got our main character "good girl" (Chloe) who's always saying "I don't think this is a good idea, let's not do this" but eventually goes along with it anyways, and her meathead boyfriend (David) who's on the edge of both sides. Just by looking at them you KNOW who's going to die first and who's going to die last. I didn't care for any of these boring characters, the only thing I was interested in was to see how they were going to face their inevitable deaths, and I was very disappointed.

And with that said, this movie also could have been a million times more horrifying if someone with an imagination worked on it, but it was nothing. Just a throat slitting scene, very mild gore, one of them fused and mingled on the ceiling, a stitched mouth, and very crappy implications that demons are stalking them, such as crows slamming themselves into their house, and hard scratch marks on their bodies and car. Wow, soooooo original.

Overall, check it out if you're a horror movie junkie, but don't expect something amazing. I watched this on Netflix, and I'm glad I didn't pay to see it because I'd feel kind of ripped off.
