Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire (2023)
Obsolete
Say you have 135 million to make an epic scifi movie. Rebel Moon is the living proof: don't waste it all on good effects. The whole scenario of this movie is obsolete.
Scifi, rebels, rebel army, female rebel leader, talking robots and a soldier for hire. Sounds a bit too familiar, isn't it?
Although Rebel Moon is pushed by Netflix - it is just barely worth your time. Better search for that 80s classic to have a better scenario. Or go for an indie movie with limited budget and more creativity.
The graphics look amazing, but the storytelling is just too thin. Add some slow motion fighting scenes and you have Rebel Moon. What a waste of money.
Terrorism Close Calls (2018)
Not bad, but not good as well
I really like the idea behind the documentaries: to inform public on close calls when it comes to terrorist attacks. And to highlight the work of police and intelligence.
And the shows are kind of informative. But they lack a certain quality. Like others also mention: i) it is over-dramatized; ii) you see the same footage in different episodes; iii) you see stock footages of bombs, explosions, etc.
It is basically a free PR show for justice and intelligence in the US. Without critical questions on motive, justification of the means the use.
The Great Hack (2019)
Turns into a political documentary
As a marketing professional I was thrilled about this subject - how do you change people's behavior. Every marketeer's dream. What if you can change the way people buy using online content. Is that unethical? I doubt it. It is what marketing does.
This documentary starts pretty interesting - but at the moment Brittany Kaiser (and the lady from the Guardian) arrives - it turns more into a political documentary. And that is a bit of a shame. And it misses a certain conclusion, in my opinion. Also because of the length of it all. It drags a bit.
The Curse of Oak Island (2014)
Absolute waste of time...
How could you drag this subject just longer and longer. Theory on theory on theory. 'Could this mean that....?' 'Look we found a rock...'
I normally like the shows on History Channel. But I really dislike this show. I have seen over ten episodes, but I really don't like it. And I keep watching it...just to see if on the eleventh show actually something does happen...
Storage Hunters UK (2014)
Unbelievable....that this actually is produced
I actually subscribed for an account here just to be able to warn you for this show. It is awful. I like to watch these 'auction'like shows. My favourites are the storage wars series and the baggage battles. Just good fun and entertainment.
This show is based in the UK, with an auctioneer (Sean Kelly) from the US. The bidders on the show are bad actors. With no knowledge whatsoever. During the show the person with the highest bid obviously wins the bid. But then the funny part: the buyer gets information on the value of the content of the locker from the auctioneer. They seem surprised when he tells them the value of items. Wtf? Based on what are they bidding? It is hilarious. They seem really clueless: Linda, Heavy D, Nat and John...
When you see an episode: please take a look and find out for yourself...
