Bloodhound (2020)
A great watch
I think this has got to have to been one of the best films I have watched in a while even though it is not a Hollywood budget.
It has a story which will keep you on your toes as there are lots of twist and turns which make for a gripping story even though the theme of it is a difficult one to tackle but it is well done. I cannot praise the performances of all the actors highly enough.
I am going to recommend this to everyone as one to add to their film watch list.
The only thing is I found the ending came around a bit to quickly and I felt it could have been rounded off a bit better and with more of a conclusion.
Gray (2023)
Could Have Been So Much Better
I watched the first two episodes and thought that this was going to be a brilliant series and a great idea looking at how the past catches up on an old spy and how this has effected her life and her fight to clear her name. Some great casting and characters. The story developed well until about the middle of the season when there was some serious lack of checking the story and big hole in it by the writers and production team. It spies don't see some of the clear evidence and follow it, no wonder the world is in such a mess. And the ending of the series was rushed and such a mess I'm not sure I would want to watch a second series. Such a shame.
Black Snow (2022)
A Real Jem
This has turned out to be a real jem. It starts out really slow and builds up well.
Great casting of the past and present characters. I love Travis as the main character with his dark past which slowly comes out in each episode.
The twist and turns of this story is amazing and the dark undertones are brilliant. This story is one of the best TV shows I've seen for some time and I hope that they some how can do another show some how.
It is a must watch and you will not be disappointed. I know it can be a bit slow moving but it is worth watching to the end of the show and then ..................
Why Didn't They Ask Evans? (2022)
Brilliant
Brilliant and amazing show and acting by the two main characters. Great chemistry and there is an amazing supporting cast to go with their stella performances.
This was an absolute joy to watch and a brilliant adaptation of the Agatha Christie story which was written and directed by Hugh Laurie and he has a part in it too. He has done a brilliant job with this.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes Agatha Christie or Hugh Laurie. Or who are looking for a enjoyable show to watch.
Please please please give this a go and you won't be disappointed and you'll have a great time watching it.
Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire (2023)
Good Story Idea But Fell in Delivery
I thought this was a good story idea at least in that first part but fell in delivery as I felt this should have an least been a three hour plus film or split into two movies.
I would have love to see more character development or more back story show so you could bond with the characters.
From the first movie I am going to want to see how the whole thing comes together.
Personally I would have preferred for this to be a TV series as this leaves a lot more opportunities for story and character development.
A missed opportunity by Zack Snyder to have an amazing hit TV series rather than a bit of a flop movie.
Let's Kill Ward's Wife (2014)
An interesting watch
This film has a great cast of actors and I love the fact there are really husband and wife couples that are playing opposite each other. Brilliant. I bet they all enjoyed doing that and I love that fact that Scott Foley, wrote, acted and directed this movie. Thought this was a great idea for a story and I was not disappointed. Thought there was some areas where it could have been improved upon but an enjoyable watching anyway. I would have to say I would like to see more from Scott Foley. Think he is underrated. I know people haven't rated this much but I would say to give it a chance and it might surprise you.
The Tower (2021)
Utter Rubbish Writing
Watched the first episode of this show to see what all the hype was about. And was gutted by the writing which is utter rubbish. There are so many stupid point from the first scene, breaches of procedure, stupid relationship issues, and crap plot build up. The senior police officer, with ridiculous beard at the station looks dodgy from the start so you are automatically looking at him as the guilty party and cannot get past that. I was so disappointed by the first episode and l cannot bring myself to watch anymore episodes. A real waste of time and money by ITV, and I feel they should learn from this rotten egg.
The Italian Job (1969)
One of the best British Films ever
This has got to be one of the best British Films ever. An absolutely amazing casts ever in a film. Brilliant script and storyline. This has got to have showcased some of Britains be actors at the time in 1969 as well as Britians best ever car which the germans have now ruined. But you cannot watch this film without enjoying the time at which it is set. But I know the modern day liberals will absolutely hate which is another reason to watch. Two fingers up at them. Also it's is amazing to have Quincy Jones as the musical producer on this film which shows how amazing and a one in a life time this films is. So worth a watch as you will not be disappointed. Go for it. Such a classic.
The Reunion (2022)
This could have been so much better!
This could have been so much better! The first big mistake was to have Rupert Graves play Ioan Gruffudd dad especially as there is only 10 years between them both. Rupert is a great actor but you cannot make the father/son gap work without some serious makeup to make the gap would better. The other this is that as someone with dyslexia there are far too many subtitles and the speed is a bit fast so you cannot keep up with what is going on. Also the third point is that the stories didn't also seem to flow smoothly so you felt you bounce a long and jumps with some weird story plots that don't seem to fit or feel relieved to the over all story.
A Spy Among Friends (2022)
Utterly ruined by Anna
Was totally looking forward to this series and seeing Guy Pearce and Damian Lewis face off with each other. But this whole series is utterly ruined by the adding of the Anna Maxwell Martin's character which isn't in the book and this totally push for adding feminist character into period shows for the sake of political correctness. Anna Maxwell Martin is a wooden actor who adds nothing to the series and the character is a distraction.
I really wish that television companies, film makers, producers and writers would stopped not being true the source material or to the times that period pieces are set.o.
The Suspect (2022)
This could have been so much better!
This could have been so much better! This started out well in the first episode but thennit starts to go down head bad and become stupid. The police blinkered investigation is not real life and the lead police officer should be fire for incompetence. And as for the lead character, well if he really wanted to clear his name when he would have worked with the police instead of making the whole this waste for his family and himself. Very unbelievable that he would do some of the things.
This just shows how bad the writing or the whole production of this series was. This should never have been released to the general public. What a waste of five hours!
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022)
Wow! Not the sort I thing........
Wow! Not the sort I thing I thought it would be. The trailer was very interestking when we were looking for a film to watch on a raining UK afternoon. I wasn't sure what to expect but it is a little gem if not a little rough in places. I do like most of Nicholas Cage films and to do a film which you star as yourself I thought was very brave.
Some interesting twists and turns and some good lines which make you laugh out loud. A pretty good story line and definitely not a wasted afternoon.
Well done to the whole team who put this together. Not too much CGi or unbelievable action like Marvel films.
Dangerous (2021)
Very Interesting Film
Very interesting film with Scott Eastwood and Mel Gibson. At times with Scott you can see and hear his dad, Clint in him. When I read that the film was about a reformed sociopath, I had to see how they would do the story. It was very original idea and it was not a bad attempt. It could have benefitted from some more depth to it and a bit longer developing the characters and back story. But it was an enjoyable look at the possible reforming of a sociopath and both Scott Eastwood and Mel Gibson well cast in their roles. It is worth a watch with some very lines and scenes with both Mel and Scott.
Southland (2009)
Brilliant gritty drama
I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch another drama about police in LA after catching up with the Rookie but I like Ben McKenzie so I gave it a watch. This is so much more gritty and feels more real life with the bleeps. I like the fact you follow lots of different characters across the show and some storyline cross over episodes. It shows the struggles of the individual characters with life on and off the jobs as well as the supporting characters. It is definitely with a watch and you won't be disappointed. It's just ashame there wasn't more episodes in a series and/or more seriez to watch. Brilliant.
The Capture (2019)
Utter Rubbish and Down Right Stupid
Please don't waste your time and never watch this show. I thought the first series would be worth a watch and it wasn't great. An interesting story line, some good acting but it was a bit far-fetched and unbelievable. Then the second series is down right stupid and a waste of time and cannot get back these six hours of your life. I don't think the series one writers are the same as series second and if they are they have gone down the rabbit hole with Alice and just making s**t up which you can not believe or be real. Please just stop. No more. This is a waste of tax payers money and another reason to stop funding the BBC.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022)
Very Disappointing
After watching the first two episodes I was very disappointed. It feels like there is no one at the rudder of this show and it has already started to sink. There seems to be no coherent plan in place as to how to get from one scene to next and some seemed out of place. There was no real character development going on or clear idea of the relationships between some of them. At the moment I don't feel that I would want to invest any more time in this because I have no strong connection or affinity to anyone. I'm not sure what books were used as source material, but this show does not feel like a Tolkien book. I think Peter Jackson could have done a better job even though I feel he is a poor job with the Hobbit!
Signora Volpe (2022)
Utterly Brilliant
This is well written and acted. Great character development across the whole feature length episodes. Amazing scenery and a breath of fresh air when it comes to drama shows. Cannot wait for the next season.
The Coroner (2015)
Great series
This was a great little show just finding its feet in the second series and then the BBC cancelled it. Don't understand why. Typical lack of foresight from them. Big shame. Worth a watch all the same.
The Terminal List (2022)
Utterly Brilliant
For all the negative criticism of this, they are wrong. This is one of the best things to come out of Hollywood. From the advert it looked like this was going to be all action but it is so much more. Great pace, lots of twists and turns and great casting. Well worth a watch. You want be disappointed.
Dune (2021)
Not An Improvement On Previous
It's a good improvement on special effects from the previous film but it is not an improvement on how to deliver the book to the big screen. There is so much missing and I had to explain things to my wife and we watched it together. The volume levels in this movie is so up and down it hurts your ears. This is a problem with most modern movies.
I still think the best version of the book to screen is that TV series. Nice pace and most of the story covered.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Enjoyable and entertaining
Like so may people I was apprehensive about watching a new Matrix after the first three meant so much to me.
I was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed how they build up the story and brought in so many elements from the previous films.
I felt it need either more time or an movie to get the best out of the idea but really enjoyed watching it.
Nobody (2021)
Brilliant
I wasn't sure what to expect with this movie but I was pleasantly surprised. Was a good pace film and great story. Brilliant all round and highly recommend.
My Life Is Murder (2019)
Easy, light hearted Mystery series
This is another great Australian/New Zealand mystery drama series with Lucy Lawless. Great to watch and a good character development from series one to two. Love the fact the second series is in Auckland and good individual cases which throw in some twists and turns. Looking forward to the three series.
Equilibrium (2002)
Brilliant
This is a brilliant film. Christian Bale is excellent. Very interesting idea and look at a possibly future. Great casting and acting. Worth a watch and brilliant fight sequences.
The Adam Project (2022)
Brilliant and Funny
Watch out for the young actor, Walker Scobell. Ryan Reynolds brilliant as always. I well thought out film and not too sci-fi to put of the non-scifi people. Worth a watch.
