Hotel Cæsar (1998)
Not a good show
I am not one of the people who hates soaps, I love some American soaps like Sunset Beach and Days of our lives(the way it was in the 90s that is) But this one is terrible !! The story lines are boring and usually about something that has to do with money. The characters are so boring and unoriginal it isn't even funny. Its the same day in and day out at the stupid hotel.
The only good thing about this show is Svein, he is the only character that is fun to watch and the actor is brilliant !!(not to mention Hilarious !!) I also liked Ragnar played by Nicolay Lange Nielsen but thats about it. 2 characters aren't enough for me to watch a show.
True some of the actors are good but some of them need to show more emotion. For example in one eppies a girl just lost her father and she was talking about her fathers death as if she got a bad math test back !!! I just had to laugh...
If you want to see a OK soap from Norway the only one is Syv Søstre, although it had some really bad actors in it the story lines were far more exciting and actual had original characters. And the good actor in that show were far better than the good ones here.
Its a joke that this show have been on for over 10 years!
Norway don't fit to make soaps IMO, I prefer real life shows from Scandinavia(where as I prefer unrealistic American soaps). Like Vestavind and Sommer.
Life Goes On (1989)
This was when America TV series had depth
Remember this show ? It was a great show about a kid who had downs syndrome and the difficulties he had to deal with.
It also talked about other real life problems like aids, teenagers in general and things that had a lot of depth and meaning. Yet it was very entertaining.
All the actors were excellent and gave their characters layers.
Fast forward to today, all we get are superficial shows like Lost,Prison Break and DS !! They are all about special affects and no substance.
What happened to American TV series ? I haven't like one single TV series that has come out the last 10 years from USA. And the shows I liked in the 90s has gone down the hill big time the last couple of years.
I doubt I will ever like an American TV series again(or a Hollywood movie for that matter)
Lionheart (1990)
Amazing movie, one of the few that has ever made me cry
Like other reviewers said this movie is much more of a drama movie then action. I saw this when I was 14 year old and loved action movies, but I didn't expect this to be as emotional(especially the ending scene)
This is about Lyon who escapes from Africa to return to his family. His brother was killed, and his wife and Lyons Niece have little money so Lyon has to fight on the street in order to get money to them.
Harrison Page is amazing in this movie he and Van Damme have awesome chemistry together. His character is kind of funny(goofy) but have a very good heart. Cynthia is a bitch, but she cracks me up especially when she gets so angry when Lyon refuse to sleep with her!
Fighting scenes are good here, especially the last fighting scene and the one in the Pool, but I feel I've grown away from that sort of thing I now watch for the emotional effect it has on me.
SPOILER !!
The ending scene makes me cry every time I see it (4 times so far over 10 years) and I don't usually cry at movies very easy. When Lyon has to say goodbye to his family and his friend says "You have a good heart Lion don't lose it" and they hug as the tears flows from the eyes of Harrison Page I just lose it !! and the great twist at the end when the car stops and Lyon runs to hug the little girl wow !! It has to be the most emotional ending scene I've ever seen in a movie and I've seen many so called "tearjerkes"
This is without any doubt the best movie with VD and also one of my fave movies of all time, so I bought it on DVD as my VHS was totally worn out LOL ! Van Damme is good in it and one can wonder why Harrison Page isn't a bigger star then he is after his powerful performance !
Watch this if you like Drama/action movies.
