Greyzone (2018)
Entertaining
It's great to see a different take on things from the standard American method.
It's refreshing.
Sadly, the police are not portrayed as competent by any means and I would have sacked Eva in the first episode! But the main characters are developed and very like able and dislike able. For me to get frustrated with a character because another character is very terrible has to be some good writing. Shame a little more effort didn't go into the police side of the writing.
But, frankly, I'm very tired of the over worked US cop shows anyway.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012)
One to miss
Saw this way after it came out. I had avoided it as the trailer seemed quite rediculous. But, fate steered me to watching it and so I hoped it would be a tongue in cheek comedy satire.
Sadly its not. Its just terrible. The acting is fine. The script is awful and the cgi is carelessly obvious. Its not the worst movie i have seen but you do wonder what the point was when it finally dissolves to an ending. And once it is over you find yourself debating whether to sell the blu ray or give it to charity. Because this is a movie you will watch just once.
Into the Badlands (2015)
Entertaining pulp
The concept of fighting and macho power ruling the future world is getting tedious.
The story line surprises me as it has lasted beyond the first season. That aside, it has great fighting scenes
It's about fighting for a lost cause found after a lifetime of regrets. Yea. Tough to get over the fact that it takes a lifetime to realise you're fighting on the wrong side.
Poor direction but great characters lkeep the show together.
Better than reality TV. But blu just.
Continuum (2012)
Great until Simon Barry stopped writing.
Seasons one and two worked well. Cross between detective and science fiction. Season three had a team of new writers and would be the reason for the show being cancelled. Sadly, it lost continuity. No pun intended. It became an episode to episode series with poor direction and non believable dialogue due to unempathetic script writing and totally incongruous story lines.
It definitely lost its way.
Shame.
Suicide Squad (2016)
Simply Awful
I love watching super hero movies.
Sadly, the only thing worth watching in this movie is Harley Quinn's rear end. Which, oddly enough, has more time on the screen than some of the casts faces.
By the end of the movie, I could understand why. It is the best part of this movie.
The story falls apart before it begins, is diabolically written and ends just in time for you to not hang yourself with your own underwear.
Why do they make such terrible movies? Of course, you will watch this movie anyway, because you are also a fan of comics. Like me.
I wonder if anyone else thought it reminded them of the original Ghost Busters movie?
