Ma vie de Courgette (2016)
the only zucchini that made my girlfriend cry
We just watched this and had a blast. It was funny, heartwarming and just wholesome. We'd like to adopt every single one of them. The storyline was well written, the running time is short but the pace is great, it's not missing anything. The subtle details in stop motion are great. The characters are beautifully written, the way they show love in different kind of ways and the way they talk exactly like children was beautiful. My girlfriend bawled her eyes out during the end. Loved it.
You (2018)
Season 2 was better, but the cliffhanger idk man
Season 2 was way better written: -the characters are likeable like actually likeable. Not like Beck and her friends. I actually liked Love Forty Delilah Ellie and even Loves friends -the parallels drawn to the first season were great, I loved that they kept the whole book scheme going and his cage and some phrases are exactly the same
- there was the Dexter reference I've been waiting for the first season thank you!
- what they did like the last three to two episodes was great - spoiler alert - him not knowing if he did it or not and the 16h he had made it much more intense.
if you watched Dexter (especially the last seasons) and consider the fact that the focus in "You" is always on love, you'd kinda knew from the start where this was headed? Or at least you had it in mind. But the writing did a great job in letting you forget it from time to time. And of course bc the great acting at some point you're doubting this could be how this turns out and well then it turns out like that. To many probably a great surprise and it was really well done. I enjoyed this plottwist. What I didn't like was the end like the last minute maybe. Like seriously his neighbor is next???? He reflected, he was healing, accepting etc. Yeah you could just say he's a sicko but I would've loved to see a character change. Cause people do and it would've been nice to see this inner conflict with all that happened. Not a do over. Not a next victim just as fast as that. THEY DIDNT EVEN FULLY MOVE IN. So sth like idk maybe his past is still haunting him. If his mother is still around bring that in? Idk just don't exaggerate this or you end up with people stop caring anymore. I want a fresh third season and I'm exited how they will go with it. Where will the cage be if there's no basements in LA? Haha and will WILL return to help out? What is Ellie doing? I'm glad some are alive to be possible reoccurring characters. I wonder how Love and Joe's relationship will turn cause it has to be after all this. So yes I'm invested I'm in but don't disappoint me. Make him a protective daddy or something.
Oh and less blurry pictures in second season THANK YOU that was so annoying. Pls never use that again. Not even in flashbacks to his childhood cause ive seen some blurrs there JUST STOP haha
Velvet Buzzsaw (2019)
Critic is so.....
All in all it's an entertaining movie with a great performance by Jake Gyllenhaal as an art critic but it was lacking something in the second half. You're always waiting for something big to actually happen but you end up being a disappointed because you want more than this movie gives you in the end. Still entertaining to watch tho. But it's not coming even close to Nightcrawler. Didn't really get the thrill it was probably supposed to give me.
Le flic de Belleville (2018)
French Rush Hour
The second this movie started I felt like it was trying too hard to be like Rush Hour. The plot is kinda similar but it's not even coming close to Jackie Chan's Movie. Omar is funny and there are a few good lines in this movie but overall it's just missing something. No big laughter just a few chuckles and the action scenes well I don't know what to say.. they were french.
Scream: Halloween Special (2016)
a little Brandon James break feels good once in a while
This episode (in the length of two episodes btw) was a nice entertaining extra episode for the upcoming Halloween. It picks up right where it left off after the season 2 finale which is really great, because after the finale you always want new information, new input about the next season, new hints about the next plot. And that is what this episode did. It had a whole different horror story with great references two other horror classics, but it also managed to satisfy that thirst for knowledge that had begun to grow inside me. At least for now. The horror story line for this episode was fun and entertaining, with a few jump scares here and there, but to me it was a little too predictable, which is why I still rate it with 8/10.
Overall a good episode with a -for diversion- refreshing new story line.
