Comfort and Joy (2003)
Gender reverse. . .
. . . Of The Family Man, in which Nicholas Cage plays a similar part. But this update is engaging, fun and less serious.
The Family Man (2000)
One of my top two. . .
. . . Philosophical films. This, and Groundhog Day me me realize that life isn't a rehearsal. You get one shot - this one - and its up to us, to enjoy life.
This reverse Scrooge plot is engaging and fun.
Maternal Secrets (2018)
Confusing
One of the things that most viewers expect in the movie, is resolution. Although the ending of the movie provided some of that, it was never really resolved who this other "mother" (Kelly McGillis) was.
I think it's a given, that most Lifetime movies are very formulaic. It's not difficult, to figure out who's who. This was poor, even for Lifetime.
V.C. Andrews' Heaven: Dark Angel (2019)
Not bad, but. . .
There often was no distinction, between acting and overacting, sometimes to the point where characters became cartoons.
Jason Priestly's performance, at best, was disappointing.
Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet (1965)
Poor Faith and Basil
If there were a C grade scifi gente, this would or should be in it. My only takeaway was how bad I felt for Faith Domergue and Basil Rathbone.
4D Man (1959)
Oh, the music!
Although the background story isn't too bad, for a sci-fi movie of its era, the background music is both annoying and distracting.
To be fair, many movies of its era were plagued with that overly loud, distracting jazz in the background. Sometimes, the movie doesn't need background music...
The Big Sleep (1946)
Not the right time for this movie
After watching this movie several times, and being totally confused, I decided to read the book on which it was based.
The written story is far more complete and explains many of the editorial holes that are left, when they brought the book to the Silver Screen.
Without divulging too much, suffice it to say that there were some subjects that were dealt with in the book, that could not have been brought to the screen in that area.
The Giant Claw (1957)
Let's Relax, Folks!
Look. Neither The Producers nor the actors nor anyone ever expected the giant claw to be an Oscar contender. That said, it's really a fun movie! The dialogue is cheesy, the special effects are not all that special. But you know something, it really is a fun film.
Is my review worthy of publication? Absolutely not! It's not erudite. And it certainly isn't the voice of experience and training. But every so often, I watch this film only because dot-dot-dot I enjoy it. In all its cheesiness and campiness and fun. Try to relax and do the same!
