The Simpsons: The Tipping Point (2024)
A new low in a season that I thought couldn't get lower
I have been a fan since the first season, which started as I became a student in the USA. I'm European, but not from the EU. Norway. To what must be a great surprise to the Simpsons writing team, not all of Europe is in the EU. I remember an episode with a Norwegian theme many years ago which was quite funny, without being offensive. Tonight I felt offended as a European. The Simpson writers must be the worst paid ones in the USA, because it's almost impossible to offend an entire contintent in such a short time, but they managed it.
When the episode wasn't offending Europeans it was completely without humour, and the story was so detached from logic that it wasn't suitable for even small kids. It was bright colours and song, so maybe toddlers were the target audience.
The season has been without laughs, but this episode replaced laughts with offense. It's a new low, and I've lost all hope. The show needs to end, this is getting so bad it's embarassing. I scored this 1 out of 10, and even that was too much. I see the IMDB score is what I think is an all time low for the show.
The Simpsons: Homer's Adventures Through the Windshield Glass (2023)
2 stars should really be 1
I gave it 2 stars because finally they did an intro again. 750th show, so it will now be 250 shows until the next one. Guess they cost money. Besides that nothing good to say about the episode. It was not funny. It's now a comedy show that's all about teaching us how to be good people.
Not being American I'd never heard of Lizzo. Her part in this episode was so in your face that she got to be super happy. But from the best show in any category on TV, in my eyes, to this.
750 episodes, going down slowly. I was a huge fan since the beginning. Now watching it feels like a total waste of time. I must say that the people giving this episode 10 stars either have a really low standard for their comedies, or they're paid bots. If this is worth 10 stars, then what is worth 1?
One Less God (2017)
First review ever, I had to, this was bad
So people either love or hate this movie. If you love it it's like baby only a mother could love. I only managed 30 mins, then had to stop. The plot, if there is one, eluded me. I just watched Hotel Mumbai, which is low budget excellence, and thanks to that I had some idea what was going on. We see extreme close ups of people I had no idea who was. Why they were there. And I've no idea where they were, as it was not explained which hotel (at least I didn't catch it). And then the special effects. Amazing. Haven't seen anything like it since the spaghetti westerns of the 70s. Low budget is one thing, but if you can't make the effects look good then don't put them in the movie. Smoke filled rooms where the smoke clearly is in front of the room, not inside (glass or just horrible effect). Bullet holes appearing on a wall like in a cartoon. Same with bullets flying through the air like tracers. No enough was enough, 30 mins and I couldn't take anymore. To be avoided.
