ok, but
5 May 2024
The plot is very much my style; I like dramas about betrayals, revenge, and lies, but there are many jarring moments. The lead actress completely doesn't fit the role; she comes off as artificial, not suited for the role of a tough woman, more suited to Jane Austen, because she isn't a bad actress. She looks extremely stiff when holding a beer bottle, driving a jeep, running, or even walking in the forest. Her outfits, though excellent, look like costumes on her, not clothes, because it's clear it's not her style. And of course, just like in the 90s romantic comedies where the main character had a gay friend who didn't have his own life but lived the life of the main character, now it's either a black gay friend or a black gay girlfriend. It's so offensive. And this friend here again doesn't have her own life, only lives the life of the main character. That moment when they sit on the roof and the main character lies down, resting her head on the stairs, and she pulls off her sweater to put under her head... what was that... the same as when they're walking through the park and suddenly the phone rings, no "sorry," no visual cue of "give me a moment," just awkward. So you constantly remember it's a performance, which doesn't allow you to immerse yourself fully.

Surprisingly not funny
3 May 2024
Can't believe you can make a bad comedy with team like that, but I guess Jerry Seinfeld just lost it. The directory is bad. The sketches are not funny. And since I loved Seinfeld (the series) I was surprised JS can be such a bad actor.

Also, it is boring.

After half an hour I realised it's for children, but it's too boring for children.

Altogether it's just bad.

Someone wrote younger people don't get 60s. That's not the point. It's not relevant. I'm old and the time of the events don't affect the percpetion, and don't influence what's bad in the movie.

It also gives a boomery vibe to be honest.

Naive, artificially sweet, unreliable
26 April 2024
Naive, not funny, not reliable.

I really can't understand the average rating of 8.

It's simply a collection of very choreographed, colorful scenes, performed by white actors with a black friend and an Asian teenager thrown in, to silence those who say he's too white. All happnes in designer interiors. Filled with banal phrases, not inspiring, not brilliant, generally rather for children. In its unreliable style and candy-like presentation of content, it reminded me of equally stiff and artificial Courgar Town, and it turned out some of the creators were the same.

A bunch of people that don't work, have a lot of money and have a cheat chat once in while with one another.

Not worth your time.

Just OK

8.2? That's a huge exaggeration. Shows like Breaking Bad or Ripley have that rating. The series is okay, it tells an interesting story and addresses important issues, but it's often tedious and tiring. There's too much of the author's self-expression, his reflections and musings. Watching it, I get the feeling that aside from all his complexes and problems, he's just a narcissist. It was exhausting. And it definitely could have been a movie. I love psychological thrillers, and my guilty pleasure is stories about stalkers, yet with this one, I fell asleep twice and fast-forwarded through tiresome or boring scenes three times.

Ok, but...
10 April 2024
1.5 seasons are cool - not as silly and naive as others similar series, it's surprising and intelligent. But the episodes added to the second season are so dragged out, constantly the same "difficult" conversations between a chosen combination of characters, and then a repeat, and so on in a loop. Either way, Katherine Heighl is fantastic. Another downside, also to those added episodes - the jumps between times are too frequent. It might not be a waste of time, but the second half of the second season spoils the series and is too, sentimental, too dragged out, overly dramatic and too romantic.

if you don't get it, leave it, don't review it :)

I think anyone who writes negative comments doesn't understand the context, lacks knowledge of geopolitics, basic geopolitical history, or characteristics of authoritarianism. The series is absolutely brilliant. Of course, KW is absolutely amazing, but the series itself is just as great as she is. It's very sad that there are people who didn't get it, but if they didn't, they shouldn't write bad comments, but rather acknowledge that they don't understand. It's perfectly crafted, exceptionally acted, and very visually appealing. It's not even a satire on authoritarianism, but on politicians/rulers in general.

here we go again
14 January 2024
Our Polish cinematography is always behind - 20 years after the world discovered romantic comedies, we were making romantic comedies, and now, 10 years after the world discovered serial killer series, we are making serial killer series. And each one is identical. Every dark Polish series is a mishmash of Swedish series. There's a detective with a past, who has issues with his superior, there's a rebellious journalist, there's a psychopathic killer performing rituals. How many times have you seen this? So this one is for connoisseurs - those who don't have enough yet. The actors are good, the cinematography is good, but there's too much repetition and too many stereotypes. Not great directorial work.

Loved it
14 January 2024
I don't understand why this movie has such a low average rating. First of all, its charm lies in its old-school vibe which lies in being engaging despite the story being simple, and that is thanks to great actors, good direction by the director, and beautiful cinematography. The movies nowadays are mostly shootings and chases, which just make me yawn, or fantasy that insults one's intelligence, but here, the thriller is based on the relationship between two characters. Jacob Elordi, as always, is wonderful, he's having a great time and everything he gets into, he does brilliantly, Zachary Quinto is equally wonderful, I really miss movies like that, movies like they used to make.

it's ok
3 January 2024
I think the series is a bit overhyped, though it certainly captures the atmosphere of those years and Colombia during the heyday of the cartels brilliantly. The actors are excellent. However, the main obstacle for me was that 40% of it is in English and 60% in Spanish. I'm not a native English speaker, so I'm used to subtitles, so it's not that I have a problem with reading. It's just my brain had trouble constantly switching from listening (in English) to reading when there were Spanish parts. For me, the fact that I couldn't program myself to get into one rhythm (either reading or listening) completely threw me off from focusing on the series. So that's my main technical critique, which ruined my enjoyment of the entire series, but maybe I was the only one with this issue.

Splendid
1 January 2024
The movie is fantastic. There's a definite shortage of psychological thrillers in cinema, and that's what life is all about. We are surrounded by people, hence lies and intrigues. Yet, recent years there's mostly fantasy and sci-fi everywhere. Maybe the success of this film will convince scriptwriters and directors to return to themes of human relationships. The movie is beautiful - with great cinematography, well-painted characters, an interesting story, and and great ending with incredible, daring long scene.

Generally, the movie, in its' character, gives off a strong vibe of Ripley.

It engages you from start to finish and stays in your mind.

Ok
18 November 2023
Without a doubt, the ratings are too high; initially, they were higher than Breaking Bad... evidently paid for. IMDB should have a way to detect this.

In any case, half of the first episode is unwatchable because the image is so dark that nothing can be seen. Furthermore, aside from scenes in Iceland, we're mainly forced to watch the main character endlessly clicking a mouse and staring at a computer. We have to read her text messages and analyze what's on the computer screen - oh, come on... There are also many cringeworthy or grotesque moments for such an expensive series, such as when she receives an invitation from Andy and connects with friends to discuss it. The acting is very poor, and the dialogues feel artificial in that scene.

And finally, technologically, it's sometimes amusingly outdated or simply stupid.

unbearably booooring
16 September 2023
This is unbelievably boring. Furthermore, why do networks and producers agree to sponsor identical productions - about criminals from the 70s and analyses of their psychology? If true crime is trendy, there are so many unbelievable crimes committed after 2015. It's the same thing over and over again. Childhood abuse - adult criminal and an analysis of their psychology and long conversations. And incredibly repetitive stories from their lives and their acquaintances. An incredibly derivative narrative. It's a shame for the work of great actors and the crew on set, and a waste of viewers' time...

good
3 September 2023
I avoid Polish productions like the plague (I'm from Poland) because they often come across as cringeworthy, filled with complexes, which leads to clumsy attempts to imitate American films. So, this series surprised me - the script is good, it's engaging because we know the murderer from the beginning, so the thrill is maintained, the actors are very good, and the cinematography is well done. Only when it comes to the daughter, the charm dissipates. She's not a bad actress, but those costumes... because you can't call them clothes, she's not dressed, she's costumed, like a teenager in the imagination of someone very old. I've noticed that in Polish productions, when someone is supposed to be laid-back or carefree, they put hats on them. And it stands out because these hats are always poorly chosen, always acrylic (synthetic material). It's exactly the same here. Every outfit of hers evokes a feeling of awkwardness in the viewer. It's not a minor detail because every time the daughter appears on screen, we're reminded that it's just a series, and we lose immersion. But other than that, for a crime thriller about a serial killer, of which there are hundreds, it's okay, you can watch it.

poorly executed
28 July 2023
Even Claire Danes couldn't save it. It seems like everything is ruined by poor directing. Chaos. Inconsistent atmosphere that makes you sometimes lose track of whether it's supposed to be thriller or comedy. Especially in the scenes with Timothy Olyphant. Lots of unreliable situations that don't allow you to immerse yourself. When it comes to the characters from Guyana, it feels like it's fantasy; when the scenes involve the wealthy family, it feels like it's drama. Lastly, I know New York well, and this is the first production set there that I don't believe it is. And it's not an advantage that they experimented with, for example, "a different NYC," no, it's another unreliable element. Because of all this, the whole series feels like you're grading a school assignment: "they did this wrong, that's good," instead of simply following the story.

Brilliant acting and directing
28 July 2023
I didn't expect the movie to bring me so much joy. The credit goes to the combination of three great talents: Josh Duhamel, the director, and the cinematographer. But Josh Duhamel is absolutely brilliant. I won't say he outdid himself because I've long believed he's underrated. Just watch how fantastically he plays the role of a prosecutor in the series 'The thing about Pam.' But here... it's like a role tailor-made for him. The story is wonderfully written, masterfully directed, and has beautiful cinematography. It draws you in, is enjoyable to watch, and is exciting. It's a great piece of cinema. I hope Josh Duhamel starts getting even better roles more frequently. I don't want to compare actors, as each is an individual, but I dare say JD could be the new (meaning younger) Brad Pitt in terms of the ability to excel in any role and being unbelievably good-looking.

Bad acting, cringy scenes
12 June 2023
I think it gets good ratings because we love Bob; the show itself is bad. I like long-winded dramas, so it's not that I lack action, it's just cringy, trying to be funny (not funny), forced dialogues and the worst: really bad acting of a lot of characters. You know a good acting when even a very famous actor, who you know is an actor, allows you to empathize with the character, here I remember that they are all actors and I analyze the scenes. It's like theatre show and not the best one. One minor example: how many times do they wash those armpits after training? Couldn't they take effort to move a body a bit?

Here we go again
17 February 2023
A Polish movie. Bland, boring and simply unpleasant to watch.

The story is dull. In many Polish movies, there is still a complex about previous taboo sujbects visible so there is a lot about sex or sex reliated issues. Usually cringy. And it's here too.

Dialogs are unsignificant at all.

And not original, we've heard them million times.

The only good bits are: Agnieszka Grochowska i Grzegorz Damiecki. Not that Jasmina Polak and Maciej Stuhr are bad, they're very good actors, but their voice emission is from a theatre, not cinema.

A viewer is not convinced the relationships are real.

Nothing is convincing tbh. Like when the women go to bar - their drink of choice is vodka - it looks ridiculous. It's not 1986 anymore.

And that title... Don't waste your time.

another good tv movie
15 February 2023
I wish big budget movies would be made like that. A lot of talking, but not overtalked. Psychological thriller. Filmmakers think we need action, due to our brains being spoiled by social media, but tha'ts not true, cinema is lacking psychological thrillers, especially those based on true stories. There's plenty of stupid fake stories, while life brings unbelievable scenarios. Anyway, to the movie. I don't think those law grades are fair, the actors are great, the directing is not cringy, this is a really good movie. Also, when you raise the reliability problem, you need to try to undersand the vulnerabillity of a person that is so hunry for love that they stop seeing things rationally. It si a good movie and. Nicolle Tom is fantastic, so is Adam Mayfield.

disgusting
18 January 2023
Disgusting. Why is it not a documentary made like interviews with other criminals? The interview with those thieves is conducted like interview with the stars... And they still sound like they're proud of it. So they learned nothing.

The most terrifying and sad thing is how empty and shallow these thieves still are. That other people's clothes, other people's cars, other people's cash and drugs still cause some arousement in them. It's pathetic and disgusting.

Not enough attention has been given to the victims. And it doesn't reflect enough how heinous crime stealing is, how profaned the robbed person feels, and how much it violates their sense of security.

is it 90s? that we still glorify thiefs?
18 January 2023
I thought that time passed with the 90's, but apparently it's still ok to glorify thieves. How can you glorify something as disgusting as appropriation of someone else's property. Have you ever seen in real life that thieves are so sophisticated? And those characters in the movie who are sophisticated, isn't it a disgrace for them to take something that doesn't belong to them? This concept is so passe that I'm surprised Netflix went for it. A clever thief who has to use his deadly intelligence to steal, and he doesn't even have the said 300,000. Really pathetic concept. Passe. Passe. Pathetic.

Great, BUT...
15 January 2023
You have to appreciate the effort - great directing, great scenography, all the scenes in Memphis are amazing, all the scenes with black community are amazing, you have to appreciate Austin's hard work on singing and moving and the nonchalant Elvis's way of being, BUT if you were a fan of Elvis Presley from your childhood, it is really hard to look at the actor filled with fillers to try to impersonate the real person. I think viewers would appreciate Austin's performance without chick- and lip fillers. An actor will never and doesn't have to look like the person he/she plays... Overall, very good movie and great Austin's performance.

Ginny & Georgia (2021– )
5/10
uneven
10 January 2023
The series has many advantages, it is not as infantile as other similar ones, it raises some important problems, but 2 years ago I did not see all the problems: the main character's accent is faked too much, the amount of music/video parts of each episode is way too much and insanely annoying, and the music for these parts is really bad.

If they were supposed to be fillers to make the series longer, you could at least invest in better pieces.

But in the first season, every now and then there are fragments in which music plays for a few minutes, and the characters dance sloppily, and I will add that it's not just music. The effect is that you don't lose anything by moving these scenes.

Ginny's panic attacks - bad acting and unreliable scene.

Ginny's father is so badly casted, so unreliable in the role, he's like from a casting to boy-band, the scenes between him and Ginny are cringeworthy to the max. And the blurred background doesn't help.

Also, panick attack doesn't look like stomach-pain... There's not that much cringe on Lifetime.

And the problems of the characters - all thrown into one bag.

For whom?
23 December 2022
It's hard to call it a regular series, it's more of a set of scenes. The point is to make them colorful and eye-catching, rarely picturesque. The plot doesn't matter, so it's bland. Once in an episode, there may be some not-so-stupid dialogue. I don't watch while looking at the screen all the time, so when there are scenes in French, I don't catch everything, and yet I don't miss anything... It is not known for whom it is, teenagers and twenties are more demanding, women aged 40 and more - also, I noticed that women in their thirties like it, who like to live in the dreams, who spend a bit too much time on instagram.

idiotic and embarrassing
20 December 2022
Bad story. The action is chaotic and sluggish. Ilana Glazer suddenly seems like a bad actress, and so does Pierc Brosnan and Justin Theroux. It's hard to say how these actors were persuaded to play in it, because supporting actors are also popular. Some of the scenes and camera work (pictures) are just grotesque, lame, and much worse than Lifetime. But the worst thing about it all is the directing. There are times when the film tries to be black-humored, but it doesn't work either. The horror and fantasy scenes are just idiotic and embarrassing. Embarrassing and idiotic are the best words to describe the movie.

not sexy, just vulgar
14 December 2022
I appreciate the acting and the lack of theatrical diction, which is often a problem in Polish productions.

But... why are most Polish productions so obsessed with sex?

And why are so many Polish productions so vulgar?

The idea seems cool, the scenery of the 70s as well, but it must be all about sex and still only "qrva qrva", Let me be clear - I do swear myself, and I love Tarantino and Guy Richie, so I don't have a problem with swearing as such, but in Polish productions it's all about showing "we're not afraid of sex anymore" and "we're not afraid to swear anymore". It's hard to watch. It's dissapointing that time passes and there is no progress in that matter in Polish cinematography.

Drop it already. We all know already you know what sex is and it's not a taboo for you, no let's move on.
