The Wolf of Snow Hollow (2020)
Dialogue too negative
Couldn't get past 15 minutes with the constant stressed out dialogue from every character. Seems like they're out in the middle of nowhere but the cops are somehow seasoned tough guys who are used to seeing mutilated humans. I get the whole not every character should be perfect but I was overwhelmed by the faux tough guy dialogue by actors who are pretending to ignore the 4th wall.
Demon House (2019)
Creepy
Researching the background shows there is possibly something to the story. People claiming it's fake but what were they expecting to find when they watched the movie? Also this is the first "poor black people" ghost movie I've seen and I've seen way too many horror or possession movies. Enough doubt a jury and as the people in the movie say throughout, maybe something is going on.

The writers loved Lost
Its some weird tv world where they're either dead or in some of weird dimensions. Not much makes me sense after a to few episodes and it's a mysterious few bread crumbs each episode hoping to have some intuitive or worthwhile payoff but of course it's more about the experience of getting to some finality.
The Righteous Gemstones (2019)
Too one dimensional characters?
The main characters are so focused on money and talking nasty to each I'm not sure they have any enjoyable arc of a storyline other than being swept along by where the money storylines take them.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
It's so confusing
The idea is great and compared to most of what's out there it is entertaining but there are so many questions I have. Why is the non matrix so dreadful looking? Why do they have to go back into the matrix all the time? Mostly just questions but I still was thrilled by it.
Debunking Borat (2021)
Terrible
Couldn't make it through first episode. SBC is so annoyingly dumb and not funny at all. The country boys having to talk sense into a really dumb Borat doesn't work. Maybe if you've never seen Borat before it's funny but the character has gotten annoyingly cliche.
Wander (2020)
Interesting
Never becomes crystal clear how real any of the story is and the payoff seems kinda dumb with all the other devices in the world that do the same thing.
Chad (2021)
Creepy
The creepiness sexually of the character is the hardest hill to climb and then the beyond belief naivety of the character makes it too weird and unredeeming.
The Hole in the Ground (2019)
Could they try to have common sense
Common sense always gets thrown out the window in horror films and this one hits that right on the nose. It's a complex movie because there is no way to attribute it to real life events. Way too much physical violence for it to have been some sort of mental illness. Overall you're going to find your cell phone much more entertaining than this movie.
Mid90s (2018)
Mild
I'm trying to figure out where the brother got his money from to afford all his cd's and Jordan's and clothes. Then the brother jumps at the chance to go into the brother's room and it's like his first trip into fairyland. Maybe he was never allowed in the room. Maybe the brother had a good job. They didn't seem to be rich. But as for the movie it was hard to believe this super young sweet kid is making it in his world of bums and alcohol and adult language. The dialogue never gave much edge to the relationships and the choice of using such a young actor keeps it mostly in the children's
section except for the drinking and sexual references. Probably would be a cool movie to an 11 year old.
Under the Silver Lake (2018)
Unsatisfying
The movie has many plot paths in but only gives a couple of unsatisfying conclusions to those plot paths. The theme seems to be the cliche make the audience ask questions type of movie. It doesn't want to be defined and it expects a lot of its audience. It's not a very boring movie but it's as if the writer couldn't come up with entertaining or smart enough ways to wrap up why things are happening in the movie.
Hold the Dark (2018)
Book ruins a decent movie.
The movie is pretty good. It's hard to figure out who to pull for throughout the film. Is it supernatural? Do the natives have some sort of secret rituals to keep the village safe? Are the wolves important? No. It's really something that follows a weird plot from a book that doesn't fit that well in a movie scenario. It's not a bad film but after reading the reviews about how it was an incestuous relationship between 2 sick people and everyone around them suffers because of their folie a deus.
The Remains (2016)
Lower budget film that keeps you watching
This movie is getting some undeservedly low ratings. Its a lower budget films and low budget horror films can get very bad but this one manages to have some bright spots. The teenage daughter is really attractive and plays a role probably written by a guy who totally typecasts her as a typical hormonal teenage girl. But her acting does not let down. Its hard to determine the outcome of this movie and there are some moments where you have to just go with it. But if you've seen lots of horror movies I think you will find an appreciation for this one. Its a fairly typical horror work. The acting is spotty only two or three times. I would have liked to have seen some smarter choices by the characters but such is the horror genre. It is probably inappropriate for kids under 14.
