Money Plane (2020)
Its on the Edge of being good.
I enjoyed the movie mostly because I was interested in seeing Adam "Edge" Copeland in a starring role. Outside of that you have a somewhat predictable run of the mill heist movie that does nothing great and only a few things well.
If you watch because of Edge you might enjoy it but for anyone else who isn't aware of who he is you most likely will not enjoy the movie. His role as leader of the team kind of takes a backseat to everyone else he is working with. You don't get much if any action from him at all, its mostly his team doing all the work.
Joey Lawrence is fine but he's not really given much to work with. There isn't really anything to his character which is the case for pretty much everyone in the movie. Also the casting of his brother is very odd as you can clearly see they look a like but their characters have no relation.
Kelsey Grammer looks like he had fun in the role even though he is very much a typical bad guy.
There are a few good moments in an otherwise mediocre story. If that kind of movie appeals to you then go for it, but you won't be missing anything by skipping this one.
The Curse of Oak Island (2014)
One of, if not the biggest treasure hunts ever.
The show follows the Lagina brothers as their team apply modern day techniques to a very old mystery with the hopes of finding treasure or important historical artifacts. The mystery of Oak Island has been around along time and has drawn many people to the small island looking for treasure and to figure out just what happened many years ago.
The personalities of everyone who is working on that island really work well together. They make you want to join them or at least follow them on their journey. The show is not always exciting but what makes it so good is that they are finding treasure and more then a few times they've discovered things with the potential of changing history.
The discoveries they make are thought provoking and leave viewers just as puzzled or satisfied as the guys putting in this tremendous effort. Time will tell if they do end up solving the mysteries. There may never be another undertaking of this scope and size on this island ever again. If the mystery is going to be solved, these guys should be the ones to do it.
Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
Actually pretty decent, even for Terminator fans.
People are too dismissive of any Terminator movie for two reasons, they think T2 was a masterpiece (it wasn't) and there have been some mediocre entries into the series.
Dark Fate doesn't raise the bar but it also isn't as bad as the last 2 movies. I do commend them for taking the risk of going down a dark path and realizing an idea that fans have always wondered about.
Linda Hamilton is back as Sarah Connor and although she looks a bit weathered to be playing the hard up badass she is portraying in the movie, she does act her part very well and it does work. The characters of Grace and Dani work well together and with the contrast of Sarah, the focus on this female cast puts in a solid effort. Arnold puts in a decent performance.
The story doesn't feel like anything new even though they take some big liberties with the lore. Rev-9 is a great concept and does feel like a very credible threat. His abilities don't feel gimmicky, he has the right mix something new with the relentless stalking we want from a badass Terminator.
Its worth a watch and a solid entry into the very messy world of Terminator that's been seemingly haphazardly built over the last few movies. Terminator 2 is never going to happen again and thats a good thing, it did its job. People asked for a direct sequel to that story and now they have it. It works, its good, you got what you asked for.
American Pickers (2010)
Oddly entertaining
This isn't a show I go out of my way to watch. I'll put it on in the background or if there isn't anything else on that i'm interested in. However most of the time I do end up focusing on it because there's just something interesting about it.
People like to say they rip people off but you have to keep in mind they are buying to make a profit. Of course they aren't going to pay retail prices. Also, if you pay attention, quite often they will ask the seller for a price and then give them MORE because they know its worth more. They aren't ripping people off.
They are mostly car, bike, oil, advertising guys so thats the majority of the history you get. Sometimes you get the history of the cool area they're in, sometimes its of the seller and their life. You never know what you're going to get. Most of the time whatever facts and stories that are told are entertaining or at least interesting.
The two guys themselves are fairly entertaining. Mike can be a bit over the top and Frank's mild stand-offish attitude can rub people the wrong way. This is a show based around them, not a show with hired actors, they're real people with real people characteristics.
Unidentified: Inside America's UFO Investigation (2019)
More interesting take on a subject done to death on TV
The show has a message that people need to wake up to the fact that these unexplained crafts and events do exist. However the show itself is most likely only going to appeal to those who are already interested. However I do think it stands the best chance out of the many shows of a similar theme to convert skeptics.
There are many experts and knowledgeable people working on this team who are investigating strange incidents that seem to involve UFOs. They present a clear and educated investigation into these events along with interviews.
They do tend to repeat themselves throughout the series but its interesting enough to provoke discussion on a subject that has been seen mostly as a joke to the general public. Unlike other shows, they are not assuming aliens are behind it although it remains a possibility. Their stance is more focused on these crafts that display technology far advanced then our own as being a threat to the nations on this planet.
The most interesting aspect is that these aren't just people who are into the whole UFO mythology, they consist of high ranking officials that held or have held important positions in government intelligence agencies as well as experts in the field of aviation.
Its worth a watch if you like the subject of UFO's and want a different approach that most shows do not have.
Jay and Silent Bob Reboot (2019)
A better concept then a movie.
If you want a look at Jay and Silent Bob 20 years later then it might be worth a watch but its not pretty. It just doesn't capture the comedy of Strike Back. There's so many callbacks and 4th wall breaks in the first 15 minutes which is good in a way, get them all over with, but its a bit forced and overplayed.
There is enough cameos and celebrity appearances to be entertaining which is probably the best parts of the movie.
The worst would have to be Kevin Smith's daughter. She can't act and putting her with other girls who can just highlight that point. No charisma and no character. The movie starts to go downhill when the girls show up and and starts to pick up again when they aren't the focal point.
If you're a Kevin Smith fan then go for it, just don't expect much. Anyone else, don't waste your time.
