Two Shallow Graves: The McStay Family Murders (2022)
All of the lawyers are idiots!
Both prosecution and defense attorneys are ridiculous. Botox Raj and Mental Case Jim seem to be working two different cases. Chase Merrit is full of himself, but he is right about one thing: his legal team sucks. Smirky Britt Imes looks like he is going to burst out laughing at different points. And Melissa R is no better. Why are they so confidant? They have stepped on landmines left and right too. If you tried to sell this as a fictional legal drama, no one would buy it. The incompetence is too unbelievable. That being said, it did keep me watching. Like watching a train wreck, I guess.
Holiday Wars (2018)
Season 2 is so mean-spirited
I think Raven is fine. At least she is being nice. Erin is way too critical of these poor competitors. They are not pros, give them a break. I blame casting for throwing unprepared people in there. And the arguing with Shinmin? Where is the Christmas spirit? Bring back Jason! Also having one crew sit out and gripe about the competition? Again, just nasty and mean. I wanted to catch up to this year but I am not sure if I can finish this season.
What Now, Catherine Curtis? (1976)
I don't love Lucy in this production
I get that this more of a theater performance than a TV/movie role, but Lucy is over-performing. It is all the more obvious when Art Carney is on screen. He is very comfortable and natural while she is all theatrical and actorly. Carney was the best part of this show.
His Secret Family (2015)
So much wrong here
The concept made me think this movie would be fun to watch. Wrong! First off, she discovers hubby leading a double life and chases him down but doesn't confront him immediately!!! If your child is dying you run across the street and grab him on the spot, not stalk him to his home and come up with a blackmail plan. The only person who behaved normally was wife #1. Seriously, the fallout on her side was NEVER explored. She is an absolute hero in this and gets no credit and minimum screen time. They don't have kids meet each other, commiserate, nothing. We also never find out about the woman he may have killed. Did she find him out? Was she wife#3? And the supposed heroine tells her son that Dad will help him. Based on what exactly? The fact that he was going to kill him? The acting was terrible except for wife #1 and hubby. Ugh, and the climactic boat chase. Just so bad.
The Great Indoors (2016)
Waste of talent
What a terrible waste of Stephen Fry! Who thought up this mess? Joel McHale is fine in the right role but he does not in the least strike me as a technophobe outdoorsman. Seriously, everything about him screams metrosexual city boy. Don't even get me started on the stereotypical millennials. CBS had to great talents to work with and they came up with this?!!!
Kevin Can Wait (2016)
Some bad ideas
Cops retiring at 50 is not weird. I actually applaud James for playing age appropriate here. The part that messes it up is the supporting cast. The wife is the worst offender. She has no character (Leah Remini is tough to follow) and she is too young. The friends are interchangeable, the would be son-in-law is a pathetic stereotype. I don't dislike Kevin James but he didn't carry King of Queens on his own and he sure can't carry this show.
Man with a Plan (2016)
Great Casting
This show is much better than I expected. Unlike many others reviewing here, I wasn't much of a Leblanc fan. He is great in this role though. The supporting cast is also terrific. The wife and brother are perfect. Compared to Kevin Can Wait, for which I had high hopes, this show is miles better. I hope people give it a chance.
