Dirty Work (1998)
How is Artie Lange the one of this core still alive?
If you enjoyed the comedies of Norm MacDonald and Bob Saget you will love this movie. Sure the acting is terrible but really it has to be to work with Norm and Artie's deadpan delivery. The genius of Norm MacDonald was that awkward path he sent you down taking the joke to its absolute edge before bringing it back. You can't get that comedy with a performance straight out of Juliard. If you have a stick squarely inserted in your posterior, if you've ever used words like sophomoric, or if you use juvenile in a negative context regarding low brow comedy don't watch Dirty Work. If you enjoy dead pan delivered in only the way the late great Norm could, you will not go wrong here.
Mike Judge Presents: Tales from the Tour Bus (2017)
WE DEMAND MORE
The only fault with this show is that it has ended... or maybe not. Mike Judge you leave us wanting so much more. There is so much more greatness to give. I have to believe that the punk world or the 70s rock n roll will give plenty of amazing stories. Hell, bring us the roots of bluegrass bootlegers and moonshiners. Give us the (probably) seedy world of Vatican choirs. The blues has to be loaded with stories I cannot even fathom to post here. I am sure Dave Brubeck can cover a two part early jazz series. 90s early rap and hip hop... there is probably a story to tell. Just tell them some more please.
Dave: Dave (2021)
Wow!
This show is full of positive messages and rooting for the underdog but nothing prepared me for this. With a very few exceptions no media has made me feel the way this episode did. My wife stopped watching in episode two. I am going to insist she watches 16 more just so she can see this one episode.
The following is just to fill space to meet the requirement:
As an aged out athlete I really get emotional for sports underdog stories and as a music lover I obviously hate rap. Somehow this show makes me fall in love with rappers like Rudy. I think the fact that this show is semi-autobigraphical makes Dave and GaTr so much more real.
Love Monkey (2006)
Why is This Show Burried
I loved this show when it came out more than any I can remember. I was hooked after 3 episodes (back in a time where I watched shows weekly) when it was cancelled and relieved when VH1 of all networks brought it back. In a bout of nostalgia I recently tried to find this show even if it meant paying for episodes but it doesn't seem to exist anymore. This show has not only been buried from network searches, Amazon purchases, and all other streaming options but DVDs were never made (or just not distributed) and even the pirate arenas have nothing. Somehow this show is locked in a vault and someone needs to get the keys to set it free. There is so much garbage available today Love Monkey may be welcomed with open arms if it were released from its cages.
Ozark (2017)
Season Three Was What We Wanted When Season 1 Ended
Season one was great in setting up the characters and seasons to follow as well as really developing the typical slide into darker parts of criminal underworld. Season 2 disappointed by doing too much. At one point there were I think 5 families, three government organizations, and two mafia involved. Everytime something turned one way two other stories and castophroies would follow where you forgot about what had happened by the time it came around. Season 3 was as complete a possible without getting so complex that the story lost its touch with the viewer. I can't wait to see what comes around season 4.
The Circus: Inside the Greatest Political Show on Earth (2016)
Really about 7 stars but 10 to offset the attacks.
Look at the dates of the other reviews. Fox News ran an attack piece on The Circus and created a run of reviewers who had never watched the show to claim it was Libral bias. There is a pathetic side which looks at news as anything not calling everything Liberal and using insulting terms for Democrats as being biased. To those reviewers when your news says "More Liberals are..." and talks about that for hours, that is biased. Not attacking Liberals for hours does not make a program Liberal. I am a current and lifelong Republican and I see the story from The Circus as being a very interesting and unbiased look back at the recent political past.
Ballers (2015)
Read to Understand
This is not a 10 star show but I had to vote a few more stars to even out all of the recent low ratings from those who don't even watch coming to push a political agenda. The snowflakes in the Trump camp must have been lead by their Fox News overlords into another one of their easily offended hissy fits. All of the recent reviews are of the same plight of the white man pretend to care about veterans crybaby stuff we have gotten all too used to over the recent years. All of this because a show about the NFL happened to show one player mention a movement everyone was talking about in the NFL. How dare they actually mention a major aspect of the medium they are covering?
