Same recipe but tastes damn good
12 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Fast and furious was never about logic or agreeing to the laws of physics, its about crazy car chases, ridiculous survivals and total destruction. This movie is no different. Be it the race in the beginning, jail sequence, hacked cars or the submarine, the movie is full of adrenaline. If you thought the series would die out with brian you are definitely wrong, One thing that came to my notice was that the franchise never seems to have a real villain its like there's always someone bigger and the last bad guy was just a pawn. The rock's hulk action scenes and Statham's baby rescue were real kickass. The movie ends with the classic around the table family meal and a new addition to the family Since The fast and the furious, after watching each sequel you feel this is the best movie of the franchise and thats what i felt after 2hr 16 min. At the end of the movie questions do arise and certain comebacks may feel unnecessary but since this franchise is not going to end any time soon lets just wait. Overall the MOVIE IS WORTH YOUR TIME AND MONEY just leave your logic back home. One may ask now WHATS NEXT, SPACE???

Literally out of ammo
8 April 2017
The movie begins with colonel Mahadevan commanding a UN mission. The mission scenes were short and the focus soon shifted to retired major Sahadevan. The film shifts to a flash back to the 1971 period. By the way Mohanlal has got really fat. But that didn't stop the versatile actor from pumping patriotism into our veins. However the plot wasn't interesting enough to keep you on your edges. The movie begins to lag after a point making it boring to watch. An unnecessary song sequence just added to the boredom. It was only until the tank scene, things started to get interesting again. The movie in a whole wasn't convincing enough regarding various emotional scenes. There was an attempt to recreate Jeeva's character in Keerthichakra but again wasn't convincing enough. The entire film tries to tell us why Sahadevan was impressed by the valor of Colonel Raja but as the viewers we just couldn't feel it. Frankly speaking Picket 43 and Keerthichakra could kick this movie out of the park.

wow wow wow

This movie is my favourite movie of 2016. A movie like this took a bloody long time to come. Karthick Naren thank you. In a masala filled industry with cliché dialogues and overrated action sequences, this movie definitely stands out. The movie puts you in the edge of your seat from the very beginning. The movie captures every details so delicately. The plot is decent but the way it is dealt with is what makes the movie so thrilling. Rahman did a great job to keep us thinking till the end. This movie should have been dubbed and released in multiple languages. The twist was like icing on a black forest cake. Best 1hr 44 min of my life. This is a must watch. DO NOT MISS IT

Loved it till the very end
8 October 2016
This was a movie that generated a lot of hype before release and I was all geared up to criticize the movie but after watching I felt zipped shut. The movie gets into our hearts from the very start. The movie doesn't stand just for its action sequences, it is more of a family entertainer. The story goes in such a pace that you start to admire Murugan and stop questioning his one man army fights. As for the action sequences, the last time we witnessed this type of weapon fights was in Pazhassi Raja and Puli murugan nailed it. Good camera work, graphics, screenplay, direction, acting hell everything went good to keep you entertained till the very end. Kamalinee did her part and it doesn't even feel like she was the new face anymore. The movie has a social impact too, Murugan is a simple man with simple ideals about life. Like the innocent villagers in our country Murugan too is used for the modern man's greed. Another issue is the killing of tigers as it reminds us of all the idiotic laws against killing dogs. What I found interesting about the movie is it does not settle with the current atmosphere and keeps moving. Simplicity in the heart and fierceness in a fight is what Murugan is about. NOT A MOVIE YOU WATCH WHEN YOU HAVE TIME,THIS IS A MOVIE THAT YOU MAKE TIME FOR.

80%comedy 20%action
7 October 2016
First of all I would say wrong timing. The movie should have been released later on to avoid competition from pulimurugan. The movie has some fun moments. The story is good and kind of enjoyable. However the rain dance was a bit too filmy. The teaser's tagline (20%Love 80%Alcohol) is pretty much the movie's summary. Pashanam Shaji and Alencey goes well with Mamooty's screen run. Mamta is as usual lovable and cheerful. It was kind of nice having Kaviyur Ponamma back. The casting was all familiar faces but there efforts were not enough to make the movie memorable.Frankly speaking, the movie is being overshadowed by Pulimurugan's success so you must keep your ears away from bad reviews. A mamooty fan would love it. Well for the others it depends on your mood, if you want to laugh then laugh.

Thug lives in a slum told in a very realistic manner
28 May 2016
Violence, drinking and everything your parents don't want you to be doing.Thats Kamattipadam because it is the life of a bunch of kids who grew up to become reckless thugs. I noticed that the actor who portrayed Dulquer Salmaan's youth did a great deal of homework to mimic Dq. Apart from all the violence there is a sideline romance between Anitha and Krishnan (Dulquer). The movie isn't sugarcoated in any manner. You don't look amazing in a slum and thats exactly what Ganga and Balan conveyed. In fact it was they who captured all the focus more than Dulquer. This isn't a movie about good guys and bad guys, it is about how the slum folks are used like pawns and thrown away for the gains of the rich class. It does not get preachy or anything which was a definite plus for me. Its life you can watch it like it or not you just have to accept it because it is a story inspired by real events, the folk songs also give an added feel to the movie. The story telling was a bit hard to catch on initially because it runs in three timelines. I didn't quite understand how the Anita Ganga thing work out. The movie doesn't end on a good note, well you cant expect a happy ending for gangsters. OVERALL THIS IS NOT A FAMILY MOVIE. DON'T SAY THE MOVIE WAS LOOSE AND FILLED WITH VIOLENCE AND ALCOHOL, WAKE UP ITS A GANGSTER MOVIE WHAT DID YOU EXPECT

A Tamil dish with a sci-fi masala
7 May 2016
Impressive teaser trailer and beautiful songs composed by AR Rahman, 24 was backed by everything a tamil movie needed. The movie is truly a visual treat. An experimental gift by Vikram Kumar to Tamil cinema. The movie cannot be called as a complete Sci-fi movie as the movie had comedy and romance just like any other Tamil movie. There was one small thing i felt unexplained ,it was a bird that played a crucial role at different points you can call it coincidence or fate but there is a limit to that. Imaginoromanceophllia and i am a watch mechanic madam... brought little smiles here and then. The movie takes Tamil cinema to a different level by the repeating of events through time travelling something seen throughout Edge of tomorrow. Vikram Kumar did surely explore multiple possibilties of time travelling and hats off to him in blending all these concepts to a fun ride. I felt it quite nice that they related all the three characters rather than making it a senseless scenario of three look alikes. The run time is quite long but there wasn't much drag because of the fine performance put out by Suriya Saranya Samantha and Nithya. Overall the movie is definitely a one time watchable and it is worth your ticket money because IT IS VARIETY

MAZHAYE MAZHAYE throughout
6 May 2016
The movie was expected to be a romantic flick but it was more about the sacrifices and adjustments to be made in married life. There is something about that Nandhu actress that strikes and tells that she is going to have a future ahead. Coming to the movie the college type romance was reduced to a small flashback and emphasis was more on how James fails to maintain his married life together due to work pressures. There are two scenarios one is the school and the other is the death of the father in law. The situations are taken to give a message on how good communication, making sacrifices and giving up egos could make any marriage work. Its the song Mazhaye Mazhaye mashallah. The song's tune is the bgm for most of the scenes and it just gives this beautiful feel. In fact the bgm saved the movie to a great extent. Can't say the movie was bad though because I have to admit walking out of that theatre i felt like I gained something. The movie has no comedy, action, wow intros or anything that makes you jump from your seats. Its about relationship so the movie is not an everybody's cup of tea.

A feel good movie nothing more
1 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
A December release and a movie from Dulquer Salman after a long gap, there was bound to be a lot of buzz and hype around the movie. Naturally the expectations were too high. Also since Dulquer-Martin Prakaat's previous venture ABCD was a hit with positive feedback. Charlie however does not have a great story or comedy scenes like ABCD. The movie is simply a search by Parvathi Menon to find Charlie. Where the movie scores: 1The curiosity raised among the audience by Parvathi Menon around this Charlie character. 2The positive vibes created by the attitude of Charlie towards life and all those who he meets along the way 3The moments were Dulquer's commanding laugh reminded of his father Mammooty. 4A helpless daughter, an ill-fated wife and an unlucky doctor who gets back happiness thanks to Charlie However amidst all these positives, the end felt like i was told to get out of the train before reaching the destination. A ridiculous magic trick and poor attempts at jokes did not make the climax any better. Overall like any other viewer I would admit that Dulquer Salman owned it and I may even watch it again

Superman v Kryptonite Monster ft Batman
29 March 2016
A huge disappointment for any Batman fan. Batman is nothing but a bag of muscles. The movie is nothing more than a sequel to Man of Steel and any expectations regarding the other super heroes would turn to disappointments. At a later part of the movie Batman brings a monster to Gotham for taking it out using a weapon thereby destroying an entire city instead of taking the weapon to the monster. A basic introduction given during the movie hints of a possible sequel or maybe even a spin off series. The only character that actually impresses is Lex Luthor who runs a fine puppet show. The title itself becomes senseless during the second half. The movie feels like it has been unnecessarily dragged at various points of the film. However the visual effects of the movie deserves due mention. Overall An average super hero movie
