Movies (How to??)
13 February 2024
Horror movies told by the people that film them. They all speak the same language. I think they make horror movies because it is an easy genre to start out in. Let's face it they couldn't, with the actors they used, make a street car named desire because the drama, at a high level, needs Marlon Brando and the like and the writing is top notch too. In a horror movie get the best woman or man that makes the most scared/surprised face on camera and go with him because he is cheap. All has been done before.

Lastly, and this is about society in general, they, these film makers probably heard Ebert and his buddy say that the slasher film kills woman and that's old and wrong. Look at the films, Halloween and Friday the 13th and even Nighmare on Elm street, men get murdered just like the woman. But they have this in the back of their mind that only woman get murdered, just goes to show you that show business people are not smart, just have clout to help or not help you.

God Bless!!

Everyone wants to be an actor
28 December 2023
What I found was that the girl "possessed" was really able to do the contortions because of some issue that affects 15% of the world's population.

The acting is subpar and the camera is always moving, thus, it gets you nauseous. They, the so called pastor, listen to and believe the so called demon and the father is there which doesn't happen.

Lastly, the pastor is sort of like a deacon, at the deacon level if you will of the Catholic church, thus they aren't able/allowed to do exorcisms. Also, there are particular words said be certain people of the cloth and the reason why is those people are "The Lord" on earth. The Lord works through them not some dude that decides to quote scripture. There are 7000 Lutheran sects alone and all have different pastors spewing what they think (incorrectly) is true and it is not.

Frustration
18 September 2023
The movie is acted okay and shot okay for a sitcom. But the movie has to be the most frustrating movie, almost ever, to watch. He makes no sense and will hurt your insides. I didn't read the short story by Melville but this is an indication as to why he flopped and died penniless and unknown. It also says where we are today re - "watching" this junk and the rich (money rich) country we live in that we have nothing better to do or want to do. Like watching people make food, REALLY!!

I am short of characters and again we are where we are in society, reward DINGYS or the best of the DINGYS and in turn reward mediocrity.

GOD BLESS!!

Take a nap
5 August 2023
If you want to get to sleep, but can't, put this film on and within 20 to 30 minutes you will be out.

They have a cinematographer, why?

It's not the boredom, but it's they portray boring people and that's cool for real life. Many people get up and go to work and on their days off work on the house and then get to bed early and wake up early unless they are going to a party, movie, concert and the like or are on vacation. Ever hear people say been there done that (or that scene)? They mean clubs and all night partying and drinking, but you get older and have a responsibility to yourself, your children and society to behave, as best you can, responsible.

I get that people look at this and say not me. But these women, let's use North America, are what shaped great countries and if you really think about it there wasn't many nightclubs and the like in 1734 in America or Canada or anywhere. The "fun" you want is man made (again) and destructive if you can't control it and that is almost impossible. Believe, pray and go to church and you will be fulfilled.

Again, BORING, and thank the Lord for fast forward!!

God Bless!!

SO FLAWED!!
5 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
There are so many flaws to this movie, where to start. The FOLLOWING ARE SPOILERS >>> First, a woman, even a woman that hates, and men too, in the condition she is in will not murder a human being. Second, the taller woman is way to cavalier about murdering a human. Do you know what it takes to murder a person?? Next, he stayed in water (the bath tub) with a weight on him all night and the small woman didn't stay awake all night and hear any movement, which is impossible. Then the body isn't in the pool and the short woman doesn't get nervous right away. It's oh well.

Also, no one looks him up and on top of that the pool should be cleaned or drained way before students can fall or be pushed in.

We see none of this. The reality is these things cannot happen, especially the pool business. They watched or should have for 5 minutes and that couldn't have happened. I could go on but as G. K. Chesterton said about these "mysteries" is that they leave out information and/or make the audience "assume" this or that happened and they sometimes add things or characters never seen before that are involved.

That's why he wrote the Father Dowling mysteries.

The short woman whispers too much.

If you want to watch two women complain then watch.

Lastly, the surrounding actors are good and as always back in the day they have the best "character actors."

God Bless!!

The usual mush and one sided!
2 May 2023
The depression was rough but for every guy like Joe there are a million or more that don't go around punching and old man numerous times because he had to. Many know that it is hard so you work many different jobs at different times. The kicker is, that for all of his belly aching and woe is me, that he got two jobs and one, if he stayed with it, (barring the murder part) might have been left the business by the owner that liked him very, very much. Movie people know they have power over the people, some people anyway, yet so few people get married by a priest. They get a secular marriage and have a "contract" with one another. I know that started a few hundred years before this goofy film. But things like that show people they don't need discipline and the like. Alan Hale, as usual, is very good and most of the "supporting" cast is good. A few mess ups by the crew, but that is expected for a "B" movie. Garfield is okay as is Lane, but they don't have "it" and because of that they need outstanding elements around them to try and shine. Elements like acting with Bogart or Barrymore, John and a great Script and James wong howe and Howard Hawks direction and then maybe a great movie, but they aren't worth that "greatness" around them, thus, you get a movie that is subpar and doesn't know where it wants to go.

Thanks God Bless!!

She wore a yellow ribbon
23 February 2023
Watching the great "She Wore A Yellow Ribbon." This movie, "Creek" came on immediately after Yellow Ribbon, automatically, and was to lazy to get up and get the remote. I went from rodeo champion, horse master, oscar winner in Ben Johnson, not to mention the Duke of all actors, John Wayne, in a movie by John Ford with top notch players, in front of the camera to behind the camera to a movie called "Creek." These people have to hone their skills in the theater and with top notch people. Watch and learn from the best and you have a chance, learn from average and you become average unless you have "It." They just made some signs and put them in bushes and used the stereotypical plot and actors. I guess they watched others and just thought that's what you do.

Is being in the business of show that important that you have no self respect in realizing that your skill should be a little better before you make a movie, I don't know. Maybe I'm a little picky, but these are supposed to be easy movies to make and they can't.

If you want this movie in the background for noise and have other things to do then cool.

I'm going to go get some Haagen Dazs ice cream and read the bible, better stories in the old testament.

God Bless!!

Top notch
20 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Everything is here. The opera club at the beginning and "Vivian" complaining about her wig to the Monte Carlo night to the end in the pool hall and Oscar (Jack Klugman) winning all the money so Felix (Tony Randall) can put on Madame Butterfly.

Note: When Oscar Explains to Felix that he was challenged to a pool contest listen carefully and it will tell you when the episode was filmed (around). Because Felix says I'm making your favorite cookies and Oscar says in the shape of a horses head, a reference to the Godfather that came out the year before this episode aired.

Thanks James.

P. S. The other review does a good job saying the names and the like for the episode.

Zorba (The Greek)
11 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Got here because I wanted to see Lila Kedrova. She was in Zorba the Greek and won the academy award for Zorba.

She is, again the best, by far a heavy weight compared to all in the movie. The anorexic daughter and the 17/18 year old Connelly making out and half naked like a 30 year old woman that has been around the block (disgusting) that no one should see. They are terrible actors and always have been. The movie made 80 dollars, for a reason.

What do you say about a hap hazard movie with children acting lines adults write for them. There is no feeling or passion in their acting.

Look at Kedrova and see the huge difference in acting. Even when she says nothing she far, far outweighs the other actors even when they were her age. They are typical actors born after 1959 and before 1980, give or take a couple years.

Don't watch unless you fast forward through it.

Example of why things are like they are in the world. The boyfriend (Dempsey) is seduced by his girlfriends sister and they are supposed to be a "close" family and she tells her sister about it before hand, really.

We, as a society, delved into a anti religious, anti-strong, anti-patriotic society into Europe, well, we can't do that because we are not an homogeneous society.

AND AS A SIDE AS A MAN we see an ugly Dempsey "being with" what most men would deem beautiful women and other men can't figure out women because of it.

Lastly, the asinine father walking around naked, really and him coming out asking Dempsey how many daughters he slept with, really and Dempsey character stays in the house, not happening.

I wrote much because you have to on this site.

God Bless!

P. S. The 2 stars are only for Lila Kedrova!!

Top Notch
18 December 2022
Violent war movie with the overriding theme that no matter how violent "something" is, God, with his infinite mercy and love and truth show men that there are things bigger than themselves.

Common sense and nature, gifts from God, help most that aren't jealous or greedy to understand that love and help comes from above and not from governments (Hitler, Stalin, FDR (especially FDR (LOL))) and that love is ingrained in all our hearts and shows that we, not government people, can make great things happen.

In the movie you know they sense something far greater than a government leader (a.k.a. FDR, Hitler, Stalin) that ALWAYS has ulterior motives, they sense, not only in themselves something yearning for love and peace, but yearning for a higher purpose than themselves.

The movie is done well too, thought I would add that (Lol)!

God Bless!!!

Really, maybe okay!
17 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
They, the writer, Bob Clark, says not all college is bikinis and the like and says they can be sensible and the like, college students. It's about money and selling, stop with this Aristotle approach to everything movie people do, like their philosophy is law. Example >>> The first victim (who is smart but scared when hearing the phone call) hears something in the closet and is nervous. Instead of running out of the room screaming she walks ever so slowly to the closet and the camera shows the killers point of view through the plastic that covers clothes from the cleaners and uses that same plastic to kill her. No, I repeat NO ONE does that. That's the sensible college people? He needs to say they are sensible and then show them with no sense! No one checks the house and so forth. He stumbles around and whacks things in the attic that everyone would hear in a house yet nothing is done. He lifts a dead weight body through a two foot opening into the attic from below, NOT, NEVER EVER!!!

Look, it is a slasher film without the slasher. What bothers me is the analysis and reverence some movies get at times and it is really unbelievable.

It is an okay movie, John Saxon is always good. The rest, well, good for a look at the late 1960s early 1970s things. I know people will be scared and they are always scared and the funny thing in most of these movies if actors watch them or directors watch them they don't get scared, most anyway, that speaks volumes. Oh, all this killing and they dont go into the attic to look and check for more bodies, REALLY, REALLY. THAT IS MOVIES AND WE ALL WATCH AND PUT THESE PHONIES ON A PEDESTAL!

Boring movie at a time when joy should be number one!

P. S. The so called killer is almost 40 and in school, really.

Same ol'
13 October 2022
Same old movie, different actors. "Bad" cop (Gere) investigated (and investigated on his own time, that's loco and unreal) by internal affairs (Garcia) and Garcia wins. Weak link (Baldwin) and others on the fence. They all have hot wives and/or girlfriends and all want pats on the back. The wives are always included in the "work" of the officer and not needed. Basic movie and really not that good overall. I heard Gere and Garcia didn't get along when making this movie. That might have been more interesting than the movie. Also, Garcia didn't go to the wrap party, means, on the face of it Garcia was the "wrong" person of the two.

Skip the movie unless you have nothing to do. Then get something to do!

So, so.
13 October 2022
I get it that some people think this and that. They say a new wave. New wave means they can't do what the other does because they are doing it, so to get noticed they do something else and/or take the "obscure" story from a writer of yesteryear. Again and again I always hear these people trying to show how smart they are yet they don't find techniques and the like to save childrens lives that have cancer. One doctor has and you know the actors and the likes of Schopenhauer and Goethe and Jung and the like, but not him. Most are against religion AND GOD/JESUS and the ones that praise Jesus/God, like Augustine and Aquinas and the like are not studied in secular schools (that is a plot and they make up reasons why not). And in film, Felini (ever watch those pathetic movies? When you get older, late 50s onward, you will see crap) and others, some know who they are, make things, or try to, seem different, but at the end of the day the plots are 99%, maybe 100% of the time redone a different way. These are directors and actors (funny, Reagan is made fun of because he was an actor, but on the other hand these DINGYS praise actors, again they are backwards in their thinking and worst of all they think they aren't) and all you have to do is entertain, make me laugh and then go home and not be heard from again, that's all. As for the reviewers, they think they are intelligent yet never physically do anything for society except verbally tear it apart and say it isn't their fault. The movie is a piece of crap and Hopper is good, rather ok in the movie.

Thanks.

P. S. I wrote so much because you need a minimum of words, sorry!

Junk
25 September 2022
Terrible acting and the whole thing is based on CGI. They are trying to do things and change things just to change things and "make things equal." The fact of the matter is to give other actors work and the like and use the feeble minded to make money is disheartening. Because Prime likes Tolkien means nothing and makes this irrelevant. If someone liked Tolkien so much, then make it in the 1970s or 1980s. It shows you, money is usually giving to the wrong people, but that is cool. Further, there was not one elf women why have them. No one associated with this junk comes close to the skills of Peter Jackson and they want people to like this over and under acting and terrible direction, but that's the business. You can be average to below average and still become wealthy, it is sickening.

Sorry I digress but it is an insult to all including Tolkien.

Good movie
22 September 2022
The movie is one of those where people get second chances and figure out they aren't the center of the universe. Acting okay, really anyone can act anywhere at anytime if you can act, generally.

Without saying what happens, but I think all can figure it out, how does the age add up? When you see the movie and those that saw it and want to watch again am I adding the years wrong for the "Lenny" character? The beginning of the movie (1960 to 1962) and the "present" in the movie is 1984-1985 and Lenny is a "star" student in high school. Do the math and tell me how Lenny is the son, not working.

When you see the movie you will understand what I wrote and maybe make sense of it all!

Again, same
18 September 2022
The so called hero is a guy that never fought or was hit (most have not been hit in todays western world) and holds his own. I get it if he was fighting others like him. But he is fighting trained (and much younger and conditioned) adversaries. And I don't like they believe in spirits yet not God/Jesus.

It is communism (and all the terms from communism) lying to show how they are good, but it is impossible because it is anti God, anti capitalism and anti human and anti America. But, what happens is that the people (even temple goers and the like) say it's a movie, it's fiction, who is it hurting. They said that about Kinsey, many did, and now, downstream, we have what we have CONTINUING to happen to children and they then become indoctrinated and the good doers (at least they think they are and they are not, they are the worst) that allowed this can't figure out why but then lie about God and that religion is the problem and the only, THE ONLY way they get things is by LYING and FLAWED AND FAKE (NOT TRUE OR REAL) SCIENCE, thus, their whole existence is based on lies and deceit and the bad thing (if that isn't enough) is 1) they don't know it, & 2) They teach AND FORCE THE CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS TO BELIEVE IT AND CONTINUE THE LIES AND DECEIT AND THEY (VERY, VERY FEW) EARN LOTS OF MONEY and the rest of the followers complain when things don't go their way. That's what Dr. Strange is about. Oh, and it has the usual CGI and terrible over acting and entertainers make lots of money, funny right, the power of money over delusional simpletons.

God Bless!

God/Jesus and real power!
14 September 2022
Not that good, but okay acting. Why believe in Ghosts? It is not really important but it could have had a better ending and better writing would have helped immensely. Also, the 1906 earthquake destroys most of the "ghosts" "home, thus God and His infinite power will destroy everything evil and will be the arbiter of right and wrong, not a ghost. Also, because they were on soundstages the grounds look manufactured and not real, I guess.

I have to keep writing because they say it is too short, my review. Maybe I'll make a remake but better.

I would definitely change the actors, for obvious reasons and bring in the small mansion itself to show many a different angle and tense.

Scary???
13 September 2022
Many say this is a scary movie. I think not. I think it is a scary movie for those with a weak mind and I don't mean smart or intelligent. I mean easily swayed or deceived and any level of intelligence can fall into the category. But, doors banging and doorknobs turning, for the sane person, is not scary, just pisses us off. That brings me to what the movie is about. It's about people that are serviceable in the real world (like an working alcoholic) but are, in certain situations, usually when nothing can hurt them physically or financially that they become crazy. Like people that hit their wives or children, on the outside they seem cool to us, but we don't know what is going on inside. So, if you want to watch annoying banging and the like and see actors portraying crazy people and make lots full of money doing so, then this movie is for you. But if you are the one that can't take it when someone near you keeps screaming and lose their heads when things happen where you can't concentrate on how to handle the situation at hand (like in the E. R. and the like or even lesser things) then this movie will bother you some, but the acting is okay and the direction is adequate. I laughed much though because of the so called haunting to most are not real and makes you laugh that people get scared of fake things, thus, brings me to the point I made about concentrating on how and what to do next. Lastly, the doc points out that it may be in their mind and thus, a MOVIE, wants you to think what happened I'd real, that's nuts in of itself!

God bless!

We are DINGYS
12 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The movie industry is a place to make your own money. They take people for fools. In this "crime caper" they steal money from a casino pretty easily. Ok so what? But then driving away the woman (Colin's) is in one car with a member of the robbery, there is an ambulance and another car driven by the another member dressed as a chauffeur. They get out of the car to transfer the now dead Robinson character. But the woman and Steiger's character get in the car and the chauffeur is, I guess with the guy that was with the woman. Why would a perfect (but will never happen) crime be changed with the people changing cars, my pet peeve. The at the end they hit the roulette wheel, really. But this non reality means something especially when they always say they want it as realistic as possible, stop with the who and what you want your message to be. And today, well they all are way, way overpaid yet a people on a team that saves the life of your child you want to have it for free and not pay them one millionth of what a dingy actress gets paid. But, if you like Robingson then you will like his role here and you can give them there millions out of your hard earned money, not me.

Dumb people
7 September 2022
All these people, sort of smart, and they couldn't figure this guy out. He's loco! Also, all this traveling and doing things with what money. He has no money and doesn't work. I'm supposed suspend that reality yet accept all things that aren't real. Terrible movie and Ann Margaret shows herself (for the good of film and $300,000.00 dollars; 45 minutes of work and we wonder why people don't want to work). Why do they make so much money? Look, if you bring in money cool but if you look at what movies make, especially back then, well, there's no way they still should be paid that amount.

Lastly, his name is corky, really!

That's the problem
4 September 2022
I know few, if any, will read this. The special affects are good but they get carried away with the heros and the rival to Stark. The character owns the company (Hammer) and can't do anything to stop or know what they (Vanko) is doing, really. Then a woman that is 100 pounds soaking wet beats up men with more power and we sit and eat it up. I don't want to get political but everything is now, but no self-respecting actor back in the day would allow themselves to be beat up by a woman. Can you see John Wayne, Clark Gable, Clint Eastwood saying, oh the Script calls for this tiny woman that weighs 80 pounds is going to beat my men up and then me, no, NOT HAPPENING. THE PROBLEM is these actors, the men, are willing to take a role like that and if they have juice allow themselves to be beat up by a woman that can't fight. Then the woman outside in the real world think they are tough and the men become violent. That's why, in recent times, the last 50 years, The Predator is far superior to all thses marvel movies and their ilk. Wake up and make things normal and men in movies, grow a pair. (I say this because John Wayne was told, in a script, to shoot a man in the back, he said no way, the character and me are not like that, I will never shoot a man in the back. I don't mean that all these guys are tough or can fight, but you have to draw a line somewhere. BTW, that doesn't mean if she shoots them that's not ok, it wouldn't if I had the pull, it is, but again all the roles are discombobulated and that is a recipe for problems and always will be and that's why children or simple minded love these movies (and these people make money off the "masses") unless pressured to watch with people and do so to keep the peace. But, again, the best in the "alone" Iron man movies is Downey, bar none, but in this one Mickey Rourke is top notch and if I wrote something, definitely he is the go to man!

Usual acting!?
23 August 2022
Good movie with the usual plot. Girl doesn't go with intended (always different reasons) and other girl (in this case Constance Bennett) falls in love (with Jeffrey Lynn). He gets telegram and drinks because of being jilted. But they are all good serviceable actors and the top four in the film are as good as any known star or character actor. So, why do some make "it" and some not so much? It comes down to whether you like them when you see them or not. They catch your eye AND THAT'S IT GENERALLY SPEAKING!!

22 August 2022
The special effects are good and the story is okay, just a story.

The acting is good, but the scene with the scorpion is to long but still lots of action. If you want some action with a simple story, this is the one for you!

However, I thought that pegasus was white, what happened?

They shouldn't change for the sake of changing, I thought that was supposed to be wrong.

The movie could of had Tom Hanks, but the guy wanted to play himself, really. That tells you everything about this movie. The other actors should have b__ls and not be in a movie like this. Wake up.

Not good!
18 August 2022
Boring and more than that he glorified people that stole and embellished it like they always do. The way they died in the movie was way off and not like that at all. Showing their "real" picture at the end says see, do bad things and if you are lucky they make a movie and if you are still lucky they show the real you and that you really are good people (not smart people). The movie itself is a waste, however some good actors, but that doesn't make for a good movie.

Again, I know I hop on it but these movies are wrong and send a terrible message to those that can't compete in the real world.
