Tracker (2024)
Reimagining of the old Canadian TV show "The Littlest Hobo"
From IMDB :The Littlest Hobo ... A German Shepherd dog wanders endlessly, only stopping to do a good deed or help a person in need, before returning to his road without end. (1963-1965).
I liked Tracker, it brought back good memories of watching The Littlest Hobo when I was a kid in Canada. The character Colton is quite likeable and obviously is haunted by some childhood trauma.
Hopefully the show won't be too formulaic, and can keep itself fresh. Also, I hope that the secondary characters become more developed and prominent in the future episodes. His Toyota truck also looks like a secondary character but know how to stay just in the background.
Unforgotten (2015)
Learning about The Passing Out Ceremony - Season 4
Near the beginning of Season 4, there was a story about Cop who failed a sobriety test after he had finished his police training at "The Passing Out Ceremony. I didn't know what this was because I'm Canadian and we don't use this expression. However, I am well aware of the British stereotype for binge drinking and I thought that this was a ceremony celebrated by the cadets where they drank so much that they all passed out. I wondered how a cop (even a young cop) would be so irresponsible as to drink like this then drive. I also wondered how one of the other celebrants in the car was able to drive on after the first was charged with a DUI. I thought that everyone in the car had drank till they passed out then all got in the car together when they woke up. A few episodes later I found out that the "Passing Out Party" was the ceremony as they passed out of police training and became police officers (or as a Canadian would say, Graduated from the police academy). Thank you, Unforgotten writers, I learned something from the show. I'll miss it now that I've seen Season 4.
Raised by Wolves: Happiness (2022)
This show is getting weirder and weirder
I lost track of what is going on. So much weird and disjointed events. That's it, I'm out. Not coming back for season 3. Sorry, I usually love this sci-fi genre.
Monsoon (2019)
Where is the ending?
I was loving the movie, sex scenes were a little juvenile, it meandered but revealed the characters slowly. I guess the budget ran out when they were 70% done and closed up shop.
American Rust (2021)
5 episodes that could have been told in 2
Half the episodes didn't even form a story. Cliffhangers are meant to make you want to see more, but this show made me wish I had watched less. Waste of time.
Ted Lasso: Beard After Hours (2021)
Too weird and unlike anything I liked in previous episodes
I hope that there are no more episodes like this. It was 99% cringe and disturbing with only a few laughs.
Manifest (2018)
Every season is worse than the one previously. I tried watching Season 4 but the slow tedious pace is killing me. I need to watch it at 1.5 speed while surfing in my IPad.
Season 3 seems like filler to pass the time until season 4. I fear that the final season of Manifest will make the final season of The Game of Thrones feel like the most satisfying ending a TV series ever had.
Beckett (2021)
Was this supposed to be a thriller?
Lead actor was good but he needs to pick better scripts. I spent the whole movie saying WTF to myself about the story, then when it was finished I asked myself why did I watch the whole thing.
Let Him Go (2020)
Soooo sloooow
I wish I could have watched it at 1.5x normal speed. The pace was past painful.
Spider-Man (2002)
Quick synopsis
Teenage boy discovers he can shoot a sticky substance from his body.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
The show just disappeared into its own a-hole
The writers are making it up episode by episode as they go along. The Giorgiu is as convoluted A, Tilley as assistant manager ???, Michael was raised as a Vulcan but is completely ruled by her own emotions and doesn't respect authority. Season 3 was all over the map and has left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. I'm ready to give up on season 4. The plot line is all over the place. I've been a Trekkie since the first series and have seen everything episode and series since. But...Discovery is killing me, I think I will stick with reruns and Picard.
Enslaved (2020)
Would have been better without Samuel L. Johnson
Samuel shows up for a few minutes per episode and if he is indeed passionate about the subject it did not come through. He looked bored when he met his "people" in Africa, he showed little interest at the door of no return and then showed up sporadically and unenthusiasticly in following episodes. However, Afua Hirsch is a star, she is smart, insightful, informed and compelling. I would have like for her to be the common element in all episodes and she would have done a great job all the episodes together. Also too much time talking about the technical aspects of diving; if viewers want to see this they can watch Jacques Cousteau.
Inheritance (2020)
Good as a five minute film
The best advice I received for watching this movie is to watch the first 2 minutes and the last 3 minutes. The rest is filler.
Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020)
It captured the essence of Eurovision
I enjoyed this movie from beginning to end. As a Canadian who spent 16 years in Switzerland, I looked forward every year to the spectacle of Eurovision. Bravo to Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams.
