The Gray Man (2022)
Too much action. Needs more intellectual stimulation.
Good movie with good acting and interesting locations, but too much reliance on bang and boom action. It would be better if one or two of the endless gunfire scenes could be replaced with some clever discoveries or dialogue. Almost forgot - the repartee between the Ryan Gosling and Julia Butters is great. Coulda used more of that.
Early on I sensed the potential for a movie series similar to James Bond, but perhaps closer to Derek Flint. That might happen, but I'm probably gonna be disappointed because there wasn't much Derek Flint in this one.
Woulda been nice if they had replaced some of the explosions with explanations, or even deeper backstory. But they didn't. Still, it's worth watching. Maybe there'll be a better sequel.
Uncharted (2022)
Predictable but entertaining
Uncharted = Raiders Of The Lost Ark + National Treasure. Not much is original, but it's still entertaining. There's not really a lead character. Coulda used a little more of Wahlberg's cleverness, or a Wahlberg/Ali or Holland/Ali romance to fill that hole.
Also not sure what the point of Antonio Banderas's character. Banderas is good, but his character seems to simply fill up time. It's teed up to be a Rene Belloq vs Indiana Jones thing, but that never develops.
The Triangle (2005)
Good idea, but...
Intriguing story, but told poorly. This show provides an explanation for disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle. Gotta hand it to 'em, it's pretty clever at times. Acting varies from good to mediocre, and the editing leaves a lot to be desired, but the story does eventually progress. Special effects are kinda B-movie grade. This show is on a par with A Sound Of Thunder. Worth a watch for Sci-fi fans.
