A BEAUTIFULLY FANTASTIC FILM -- truly uplifting
7 September 2018
A peculiar young woman who aspires to be a writer is told that unless she fixes her garden, as part of keeping the property she lives in at it's best, she will be evicted. This already is a promising story. But if you add the scrappy old man she has as a neighbour, a single irishman father of two lovely girls who works as the neighbour's cook, and a young man yerning for knowledge who wishes to become an inventor, (who all help her in her journey) this becomes a truly magical film. Jessica Brown Findlay is ever so sweet as Bella Brown, and the rest of the cast (Andrew Scott, Tom Wilkison, Jeremy Irvine...) do a fantastic job at lifting her and the story up for the audience's pleasure. If you ask me, this film is a must see.

STOP ROMANTICIZING TOXIC BEHAVIOUR!!
1 September 2018
Why? Why is this film centered around a controlling guy that dates his younger brother's best friend being idolized? This is not good. Not only is the acting bad, the script cringy and the overall photography of the film lacking, this is AN AWFUL MESSAGE FOR YOUNG GIRLS. Or girls/women of any and every age. When a guy fights over a girl, scares away all other possible dates, tells her what to do and not do,... he doesn't do so because he loves her, he does so because he thinks she is his. Enough is enough... let's have a romantic comedy where everyone envolved is respectful and respected. Let's romaticize that. And if you really want a film where a guy is controlling over a girl, make it a drama and have it end with a restraining order.

A MASTERPIECE
10 January 2018
I went in with high hopes for this film, and it surpassed every expectation.

It is a visually stunning film, there's simply no other way to describe it. From the colours, to the music, to the costumes, to the locations, to the shots. But most of all the story and the performances.

If you've read the book, you already know how beautiful and heartwarming/heartbreaking this story is. A story about how two young men fall in love with each other during the summer.

The actors cast as Elio (Timothée Chalamet) and Oliver (Armie Hammer) do an absolute fantastic job. Their performances are as natural and pure as they come.

This film is a must watch. It's full of love, heartache, culture, music, love, love and love. Full of gorgeous shots, incredible scenes and lessons to learn. It'll be referenced and quoted to for many, many years to come.

It's simply a masterpiece.
