Def Worth watching on a Friday Night
18 February 2024
If this is based on reality like it says in the beginning of the film, THEN THIS IS PRETTY SCARY!!

Roughly 10 people wake up on a plane not knowing how they got there.

I did like all of the twists and turns that kept us guessing on what was actually happening.

No spoilers here so I'll just say it's definitely worth a watch if you like a psychological mystery thriller?

I'm going to say this is a 6.5 unfortunately I can't rate it that so I'm going to go with a 7. At least that will help bring up the overall score so people will watch it.

It's no Mission Impossible but it was entertaining.

I was extra surprised that this film was from 2013. It didn't look over 10 years odd at all ! (Not even the Cell Phones lol)

Too Avant Garde & DEF NOT FOR ME
26 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Where shall I begin? If you are looking for an entertaining "something to do" on a rainy Saturday, THIS IS NOT FOR YOU. GO and see The Boys In The Boat.

This is a movie that will be shown in a University "FILM AS DRAMA" Course. The poor students will have dissect it and write a 6 page paper on its themes and what the heck the Director was doing and what he meant.

I understand that the Director is known for his weirdness BUT I REALLY wish I had read the reviews on IMDB BEFORE WE WENT.

I'm no prude and of course have seen 100+ R rated movies in my life. This one had so much gratuitous uncomfortable to watch sex. If I had to watch Emma Stone play with herself one more time I would leave. That came at about the 30 minute mark and we actually WALKED OUT OF THE THEATRE.

I have NEVER walked out of a movie before! My husband said at about 10 minutes in "I may not make it. Wake me up if I fall asleep."

The ACTING was superb. Emma Stone & Willem Dafoe really are amazing. Watching Emma grow up from a baby in an Adults body was crazy. She played it well!

I've always been a big fan of Willem Dafoe and Mark Ruffalo. Going in I thought I was going to see this UNBELIEVABLE DRAMA. It's been nominated for just about everything so it MUST be good.

The cinematography was excellent and it looked good. Then it went Black and White. There's the Artsy that I don't have.

It all boils down to this: I felt uncomfortable watching this movie. I knew it was going to be another 1 hour and 45 minutes MORE to watch it and I just couldn't do it.

The rating ? I noticed that it got either a 10 or a 1.

I come to IMDB to see what others actually SAY and not just the overall rating. I feel as though if someone took the time to write a review then the film really stuck with them. I cannot give a 10 to a movie that I walked out of. Acting probably was a 10 but the story itself was too bizarre.

I go to the Theatre to be entertained ...NOT MY CUP OF TEA LIKE A LOT OF OTHERS WROTE HERE.

Another Cute Hallmark Christmas Movie!
15 December 2023
Here's yet another really cute Hallmark Christmas Movie.

Paul Campbell is one of my very Fave Hallmark Guys.

There are 4 or 5 that are excellent no matter if they are playing serious or funny. Paul is quite funny in this one and I'll watch a movie just BECAUSE HE IS IN IT. I wonder if he is like this in real life because it was so natural?

No Spoilers here but you know all things turn out in the end as they always do.

It is the first time that I've ever seen Cameron Mathison play this type of character!! He's usually the widowed father that ends up wth the damsel in distress ! Not this time!

I rate these as a 10 if they are so touching that they make me cry, 9 if they're Happy & Romantic or 8 if they're Funny & Cute. This is what you are going to get when you watch a Hallmark Movie. You come to Hallmark for the Feel good Christmas emotion !

Merry Christmas!

How did I miss this "oldie" but goodie? A "TEN"
15 December 2023
As a professional Hallmark Christmas Movie Watcher, I can hardly believe that I missed this one! Especially such a Fabulous Christmas Movie!

I was looking for something to watch that I had not seen before. I really love Bethany Joy Lenz so I went to her IMDB Page to search. I went backwards through her films and came across THE CHRISTMAS SECRET from 2014. It's NOT dated at all - come to think of it, really none of them are!

It's sweet with lots of twist and turns of FATE. They have intricately woven a few stories together that of course finish off with a beautiful Christmas Story at the end. The Actors have great Chemistry which absolutely makes the movie.

No spoilers here. THE CHRISTMAS SECRET has Christmas + Heartwarming + Tears and deserves a 10. It's why we come to Hallmark in the first place !

You Get EXACTLY what you came for ...
10 December 2023
This is a Hallmark Christmas Movie. It's this time of the year that I come to Hallmark to get out of the "Real World" and stick my head in the Christmas Sand.

The formula is basically the same with each film but THAT IS WHY WE WATCH THESE !!! They make us feel good at Christmas.

There are about 6 or 7 Actors that I'll watch the Christmas Movie without knowing what it is about. In particular, Paul Campbell is one. I used to look for the new Christmas Movies to watch by the current year first. Now I look by Actor's Name AND the current year hoping they've made a new one!

After last year's "THREE WISE MEN AND A BABY", he stuck out. That film is a Hallmark all-time Fave and you don't need to be a Hallmark Fan to love that one.

So when I read negative reviews, I can't help but think "why are you here?". You are getting exactly why you turn on these holiday films to begin with.

No doubt that some ARE better than others and I am a huge Hallmark Movie Fan. I watch with my cuz and we came up with our own Rating System as follows: Fair (7) Cute & Good (8), Very ROMANTIC (9), BIG Feel Good movie that makes us CRY & a Fave (10).

There have been a couple of them that I have stopped watching for 30 minutes bc they have not captured and kept my attention. We warn each other not to bother. They NEVER star one of the big Hallmark Stars.

THIS MOVIE WAS CUTE & GOOD...hardly a flop by any means.

Frasier (2023– )

Has the Feel of the Old Frasier !
16 November 2023
Kelsey Grammer has not missed a beat coming back as Frasier Crane. I loved this show in my youth and I feel like I'm just waiting for Lilith to walk in the door! Kelsey's delivery is what made me love him so much back in the '90's. He has still got it.

I love Jack Cutmore-Scott as Freddy. After only a few episodes I think they have some good chemistry. I hope the writers can keep this going. Nigel & Daphne's son David is as nerdy as you'd expect him to be (more so).

I'd love to see a couple of cameos from the old crowd since it's set back in Boston. It would seem as though someone from the Cheers Gang might make an appearance ( Even if it was Frasier bumping into one of them in the Street or a store)

So far so good. Feels like Frasier. <3.

UPDATE AFTER ALL EPISODES: We really enjoyed the entire Season. The writing was terrific and the characters had REALLY GREAT CHEMISTRY. Frasier & Freddy are terrific as dysfunctional Father & Son trying to repair their relationship. I LOVED the cameos (no spoilers) Nephew David is hilarious playing the too smart - no common sense Harvard Boy.

Honestly I will be very disappointed if there is no Season 2.

Another Christmas Fave!
14 November 2023
If you a lover of Hallmark Christmas Movies, this one of the best!

I watch at least 20 per Christmas Season from November through the Holidays on the usual channels; Hallmark (all 3 channels ) and the Lifetime Channel.

These movies are always heartwarming and put me in the Christmas Spirit.

This movie was adorable ! The chemistry between the leads (Andrew Walker - my personal FAVOURITE Actor) and Rachel Skarsten was cute.

The story was certainly a new one ! A High Strung Famous LA Family getting stranded on Christmas Island via a Storm while flying in their private jet. Their Pilot? KATE (Rachel Skarsten) on her 1st trip in her new job as a private pilot. No spoilers here.

This movie was actually filmed in the place that it purported to be ! It was not filmed in Nova Scotia pretending to be Maine but filmed in Nova Scotia and they got stranded on Christmas Island, Nova Scotia!

I always rate my Hallmark Movies by if they give me goosebumps or make me tear up from Christmas happiness. This had both :)

This was a really Cute movie and a 10!

Still a Must See of....
5 October 2023
We started watching a ton of old Horror Movies about 3 years ago in October. There are so many streaming now in time for Halloween.

This one, THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD is a 70's BAD version of 4 Night Gallery episodes. It's still a MUST SEE just to watch what they thought Horror was back then.

This still probably would have scared me to death as a 12 year old watching on a Saturday Afternoon Creature Double Feature for sure.

The Film had some big time stars in it too! Peter Cushing & Christopher Lee weren't schmucks.

Each story took place in the "House" that was for rent. Scotland Yard comes down to try and figure out what is causing all the mysterious goings on. They tie the whole thing together with a nice bow at the end.

If you want something campy to watch on a rainy weekend day, this is perfect.

We are picking out one per night to watch after dinner!

Going to find some great old Vincent Price next!

Same as it was, Same as it ever was ..BRILLIANT.
1 October 2023
WOW & BRILLIANT. 40 years later I felt the need to RUSH to see this Film starring a Fave Band of mine from the 80's.

I knew I had to watch this re-release IN A MOVIE THEATRE as soon as I saw the FANTASTIC TRAILER. Even the Trailer was Fantastic. David Byrne walks into his Dry Cleaner to pick up. "It's been here a while" as the Dry Cleaner brings the GIANT SUIT from the back. When I saw that trailer and got goosebumps I knew I had to see STOP MAKING SENSE on the Big Screen!

My first memory of hearing Talking Heads was at my 1979 High School Graduation. The kid behind me was singing "Psycho Killer, Qu'est que sais, ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba " you get the rest !

The Talking Heads were played constantly our College Radio station in the early 80's.

I called my College Roommate from 1983 who I was overdue to see (it had been 2 years). What a great excuse to get together. We were huge Talking Heads Fans.

I drove an hour to Providence RI to see the Film. Im sure my mouth hurt from smiling (and singing) for an hour and a half. It felt like I was at a concert -minus the screaming fans. Instead we were sitting with a few other 60 year old people reminiscing. The music and film were perfect. I didn't feel like I was watching an old movie. Whatever they did to this 1983-84 film made it look and sound like it was new. WHAT A TREAT. A MUST SEE for any Talking Heads Fan.

I'm still singing Stop Making Sense in my head!

HILARIOUS CRIME at its Finest!
25 September 2023
This absolutely HILARIOUS Murder Mystery has been my #1 Fave Series of the Summer!

I watched with my American Cousins who put the subtitles on as they couldn't get the accent. We binged this over a 3 day weekend. The OUT LOUD FUNNY LAUGHS that we shared over this "Murder Mystery/Police Procedural/Who Done It meets Sketch Comedy" was devine.

AND ...Omg the chemistry between Dulcie & Eddie could not have been better scripted. They bounced off of each other perfectly. All of the Characters had a bit of quirky to them.

Comedy Crime. This was written by someone with a funny twisted sense of humour and I loved every minute.

I am soooo hoping that there's another Season of this Show. I think it could be possible? It does say 2023- which gives me hope.

A "9" even if it ended today !
27 May 2023
I don't know why the lowish reviews!! I don't care where this story is going. I could watch Patricia Arquette in her role as Peggy forever. She is CRASS (WITH CLASS according to her) with absolutely no filter. She absolutely makes this Series. Arquette is so perfect as this wanna be P. I. looking to make the Big Score catching the Bad Guy....

You need a Very Dry and Twisted Sense of Humour to appreciate this HILARIOUS Show. If you are expecting a Network TV Comedy, this is NOT IT.

High Desert is a DARK COMEDY that has Quick Wit and Brilliant Writing. I wonder how someone can dream up these crazy ideas. I just love this Show.

Not in one million years would I put this Cast together but they are PERFECT. Brad Garrett as Peggy's Boss is hilarious. I couldn't even RECOGNIZE Rupert Friend as Guru Bob with that Hair !! Bernadette Peters on TV ? I love her as MOMMY/Ginger. Matt Dillon is Peggy's SMARMY Husband who has been in and out of Prison/Jail. He's the one who got the family in their VERY DYSFUNCTIONAL WAY to begin with.

Ben Stiller is the Executive Producer and is owning Apple lately ! I love that he has his Wife Christine Taylor as Peggy's "Normal-ish" Sister.

Highly recommended if you like dark humour.

VERY Clever!
19 April 2023
I love CLEVER shows. This is one. You can't see ANYTHING coming. Just when you think it's going one way, it goes another. So far my mantra is I'm not trusting anyone yet except John and I'm going n Episode 5.

Keifer Sutherland plays John Weir the Leader of a Secret Group trying to save the World.

When the first word out of John Weir's mouth in the very first episode was "Damn It", it was a great Easter Egg to Sutherland's millions of 24 Fans.

The acting and the characters are great.

This is a Show that you MUST pay attention to or you may miss something. There are so many pieces to this giant puzzle. It has the perfect amount of ANXIETY and cliffhangers that I can hardly wait until next Sunday!!!

Can't wait to see WHO DONE IT.

Slow Horses (2022– )

Fantastic Spy Series!!
29 January 2023
First, I absolutely loved the first Season of Slow Horses.

I think I gave the 1st season a 9. The ensemble cast is terrific. The Writers were able to give you a little bit about each character and give them real personality. To do this in 6 episodes is great writing!

Second, IT IS MORE RARE that a second Season is EVEN BETTER THAN THE FIRST! GIVING THIS Season a 10.

Gary Oldman as the ornery Leader of the misfit MI-5 Agents at Slough House is SPOT ON. His one liners are sometimes so shocking but his team don't blink an eye. They know they're all at Slough House because they have done something bad or wrong and have been banished to work for the infamous Jackson Lamb. Instead of being fired the Agents on his team are relegated to work at Slough House.

No Spoilers here but sufficed to say the writing is so clever. Just when you think something will happen, it does a 180 and then 2 more.

Now that we REALLY know most of the Agents, I can hardly wait to see Season 3! IMDB shows a Season 4 too! HOORAY!

Tulsa King (2022– )

It's Taylor Sheridan's World now!
14 January 2023
What an ABSOLUTE amazing Series. Taylor Sheridan has hit another one out of the ballpark. With Yellowstone, 1883, 1923 and now TULSA KING, his writing has got us all hooked.

With having Sylvester Stallone as the STAR, We already wanted to watch it.

Sly plays Dwight Manfredi, a former FAMILY member in the Mob who was just released from prison after 25 years.

The "Family" wants him out of New York and sends him to TULSA of all places!

(A little reminiscent of the Series "Lilyhammer" Steven Van Zandt is a Mobster who needs to get out of NYC, ends up in Norway. )

Dwight finds his new "crew" after a couple of episodes trying to fit into Tulsa. A funny Culture Shock to be sure - adding in the 25 years in Prison he has missed a lot.

Each Episode is just as great as the previous one. Stallone has some great one liners that only he can do. He's got such personality in this series.

The entire cast is a fun group of characters. I only wish the episodes were a little longer!

I am SO happy that there will be a Season 2.

Looking forward to it.

Tongue in Cheek CHRISTMAS Comedy
23 December 2022
I thought this was pretty Funny and Heartwarming in the WEIRDEST way.

This movie is all over the place. It's a Comedy that throws in some Heart all while WAY OVERACTING on purpose.

THIS CAST? Who would EVER put these people together...they seem like they just wouldn't fit but they do. The Acting is fabulously overdone in this Tongue in Cheek Comedy.

We sure have seen a lot of Kelsey Grammar this year. I just read that there's another "CHRISTMAS FAMILY " Film 2 to this movie!

I'll def give it a watch.

This movie had a bit of a slow start for me but I suddenly got sucked in and realised these Characters were Caricatures of themselves. Always love John Cleese!

Cute
16 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Not exactly your typical Christmas movie but it was cute. The only really unbelievable part was at the end ....SPOILER...:

The Sister went from the Wicked Witch of New England to staying for Christmas in 2 minutes. I thought she was AWFUL (mean) and I would have kicked her right out of the house.lol.

The Mother asked her to stay for Christmas 3 seconds after the Sister waltzed in with Lawyers to take the Farm ! That was a little odd.

It was predictable but isn't that what we are here for ? I watch these Lifetime and Hallmark Christmas Movies for the "Christmas Joy" with a little RomCom thrown in.

Despite Reviews, we loved it!
4 November 2022
Warning: Spoilers
We are huge Horror fans and have no idea how we missed NOS4A2 when it was on AMC showing "live".

The only thing I can think of is cutting the Cable cord and going to HuluLive, maybe we didn't have AMC?

I love Joe Hill and I had not read this book and was on the fence about reading it first, then watching ... but I knew it would take me forever to get through the book so we went straight to the series. My husband and I loved both seasons.

They definitely set up a potential Season 3. I think Horror/Supernatural Streaming is so big now that had this been shown in 2022, I bet a S3 would have been picked up.

***The only thing that I could not get or find on Google is WHO WERE THE KIDS IN THE CAR PARKED AT THE BURNED DOWN HOUSE AT THE END (when Millie comes out of the Woods and hops on top of the car??? ) The boy said he used to live there when he was a kid. WHO WAS THE KID? He's listed as NAT on IMDB. NO IDEA and it will drive me crazy .

Despite the reviews, I LOVED IT.

Had to turn it off :(
10 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
First, I am a HUGE SciFi Horror Fan so I was all in right from the start when I saw the ad for this on Paramount+.

As I was watching I thought to myself AND said to my Husband "I would have NEVER gone backpacking/camping in the first place". (I'm not outdoorsy so it didn't seem right). If she's so full of Anxiety, the last place she'd want to be is in the scary woods with no Cell Service! Where's the Satellite Phone Ruth?

It was VERY VERY Slow. I really wanted to bag the movie but Hub said "let's give it 10 more minutes". I put a 10 minute Timer on to give it one last gasp. SPOILER: when Ruth asked to go back up to the scenic overlook to get engaged again I knew he was in trouble. I said "OH I WROTE THIS MOVIE, She's going to push him off. " We had a good chuckle.

Had to shut it off. With all of the great programming out, no point in wasting a Sunday Night that.

I came here to review and was hoping for a good SPOILER REVIEW to let me know what happened at the end. ALIENS? Shark Attack? In the Pacific Northwest? Definitely did not expect or see that coming.

Maybe I have to go back and watch the last 5 minutes.

Perfect amount of Spooky
5 October 2022
I'm really surprised that this is not MUCH higher in the Review Dept. This was the perfect amount of spooky and uneasiness for sure.

I did not know it was based on a story written by Stephen King until after the film was over and I was reading the credits. As I was watching I thought it MUST be Stephen King! I KNOW THAT WRITING!

Donald Sutherland played Mr Harrigan and was fantastic as the VERY RICH Ornery Old Man. I loved the chemistry between Mr Harrigan and Craig played by Jaeden Martell. (He has been in a lot as of late! I recognized him from a few other movies that we have seen.)

Who knew a Phone could be scary? This is a much watch if you like Slow Burn HORROR.

Fun "Superhero ?" Movie
16 September 2022
This is EXACTLY what you are looking for in a Superhero Movie. I have always loved Sylvester Stallone. He's perfect in this Character. It's what he does best.

I keep seeing Wanna Walton (the Boy) everywhere! Will he big a big star soon? He was very good.

The movie was visually dark and the special effects are cool.

What is this "sorry, your review is too short. It needs to contain at least 600 characters"? Do you suddenly want everyone to write a book?

I think everything that I wrote was enough for a Review. I love reading and writing them but sometimes 600 characters is too much.

Warning: Spoilers

We called these DISASTER MOVIES in the 70's.

You are getting exactly what you think you are getting here. Not really a SPOILER but you KNOW what's going to happen. It's why you turned it on.

An Action, Suspenseful & Entertaining Movie that could not possibly happen (let's hope!) and the Heroes Save the Day. It did it's job. I thought it was quite good. Pretty big Actors and I liked the chemistry between the Characters. I have always liked Patrick Wilson!!!!

The beginning had SO MUCH POTENTIAL, it had the right amount of spooky and anxiety....but SPOILER: Once the MEN started giving Birth over and over ...it lost me and lost my review of 8. WTAF were they trying to convey here?

I love a haunted spooky movie but this? I think they were all in and then someone said "ok I don't feel like making this movie anymore, let's bag it" Don't waste your time. It's so bizarre it's not even worth checking out to see how crazy it is. 2 Thumbs DOWN.

I don't get some of these reviews. It was a highly entertaining "Tongue in Cheek Indiana Jones".

Great Movie for a Saturday Night at home.
