America's Next Top Model (2003–2018)
7/10
My guilty pleasure
11 June 2008
This show is my guilty pleasure all the way!! When I first tuned in to America's Next Top Model, I expected to be bored, and to find it very very stupid. I didn't. This show is actually serious fun. I read on one of the other reviews that it makes you wonder if you have what it takes to be America's Next top model. And it so does! Who doesn't love the glamour and excitement that come with being a model? On ANTM you get to see what it's REALLY like. And who doesn't love hearing the girls bitch about each other and get into fights? Or enjoy wanting to throw something at that Janice lady?

Give this a chance. Don't expect something intelligent or a show you can look to for a life lesson. Just enjoy it for what it is. Serious fun!

Extreme Makeover (2002–2007)
1/10
Just plain sad
23 September 2007
In this show, we get to watch a bunch of extremely insecure people getting plastic surgery that will supposedly make them look more beautiful. Afterwards, they are given a haircut, shown how to dress etc, etc. Finally, they go back home after being away for like 2-6 months and are presented to their friends and family who never fail to applaud, cry and tell them how beautiful they are. I don't get it. I really don't get it. Is this what entertainment is supposed to be about? The only thing this show has ever provided me with is an intense feeling of sadness. It makes me feel sick of the world we live in. In this world people have to get a facelift, breast implants, or a tummy tuck in order to feel beautiful. The people that win these makeovers are always going on about how thankful they are to their relatives for giving them "the best gift ever", a ticket to this show, that is. I, on the other hand, would be extremely hurt and insulted if my boyfriend entered me into Extreme Makeover. It is your family and loved ones you're supposed to turn to in order to hear how nice you look, even if that isn't true. Also, I've seen that others consider that to review this show means to tell people who don't like it that we're all wrong and mean, as it's a wonderful experience for those who were not born beautiful. My point is this: As long as shows like this exist, those people will go right on thinking they are ugly when they aren't. And you know why? Because shows like this promote a Barbie- doll idea of beauty, telling you that if you're not a size D with a perfectly constructed nose you're ugly. Right. So, you can have your beautiful experience. Just please please please understand that you getting plastic surgery will probably make another girl who is a size A feel ugly, even if she isn't. Good job. I guess somebody could like this show in a sadistic kind of way. I thankfully don't.

7th Heaven (1996–2007)
2/10
The American Dream at its full glory.
24 May 2006
I seriously don't understand why this show has been running for so many seasons, or why anyone would find it interesting. 7th Heaven is about the supposedly "average" American family ( if you call average being a minister and having 7 kids) The fore-mentioned family meet with supposedly everyday problems and overcome them due to their infinite love for each other and god. However, if you look at it more closely, none of the problems the Camdens are faced with are even close to being real. They are just mediocre people living the American Dream, though how someone would want a life like that is above me. In each episode we are forced to listen to the reverend's sermons, usually these huge clichés far from reality. And what is with these people's obsession to get married??????That's not what life is about. This show is a soap, right? It should be more close to reality if it wants to be dramatic. And maybe reality is harsh but denying there are more important issues than a teenage girl's first date is just plain dumb. Plus, the actors are just plain bad. Especially the mother. One more thing: This show is admittedly pure propaganda. It's supposed to be teaching young people how bad premarital sex is blah, blah, blah. in another words: SEX IS BAD! Therefore, isn't it pure irony that they are dealing with sex in every other episode? Like, Lucy got married at 16 or something and had a baby at 17. Why would you get married at 17 if not to have sex? There's a lot of sexual tension there, like it or not!
