Blaues Blut: Wo der Teufel wacht (1990)
Devil's business.
Sunny Spain is our destination, driving to see a family friend, Henry sees a scared woman on the road, bringing her to his destination, he discovers that this woman is supposedly having an affair with the friend's husband, an art restorer, further digging reveals scared villagers and a devil obsessed art collector looking for a specific piece.
The Spanish locale offers a distinctive flavour for this installment, the bad-guy collector looks scary as Satan himself and the atmosphere tells you to get the hell out of there (pun intended) plus a scene with a creepy devil marionette, this segment may not meet David Lynch's standards but it's not dire.
Blaues Blut: Dunkle Pfade (1989)
Haunting secret.
Driving through the golden Italian countryside in a cute convertible, Samantha Milton has a feeling of Deja Vu about an old barn, heading inside, she has a vision of a murder occurring there on a stormy night, thankfully, Count Henry is in a nearby village and agrees to help, although he is hindered by local powerful people, the pieces uncovered reveal a past secret which threatens to destroy their authority.
Entertaining, has a red-headed black man and a jack-booted spaceman, (long story) the writer was clearly influenced by the story of infamous hijacker Dan "D.B" Cooper as a criminal similar to him plays a part in the overall story, similar quality to the rest of the episodes and has Lisa and the Countess Simone in it.
Blaues Blut: Sein letzter Coup (1989)
An honest thief.
Learning that his old mentor, Jean Sabin has died, Count Henry learns from his daughter Juliette that he was a former thief, who whilst infiltrating a building for one final challenge before retirement, was shot for his trouble and asked for his help, the investigation reveals that Jean stumbled upon a corruption plot.
Decent adventure, about as sophisticated as a typical episode of Knight Rider, A-Team etc, has a man named Michael Payne (and he is not a nosy neighbour!) And a dasterdly trap to boot, holy drink-driving Batman!
At the end the music by German singer Sandra helps set the emotional mood.
Blaues Blut: Das Mädchen aus dem Meer (1989)
Aptly titled
Count Henry, chaperoning a stereotypical vacuous American millionaire's daughter (named Tuesday) aboard her yacht (named the "Shere Khan") spots an unconscious woman in the sea, when brought aboard, she utters the name "Katerina", investigating the various items, they find themselves nearly killed by a sinister looking woman named Cordula, the truth turns out to be more complex than they thought.
More gorgeous footage of the Italian coast/countryside and an early performance by Kevin Sorbo's wife as Tuesday, a climatic boat chase and some banter about Othello.
Blaues Blut: Wer zweimal lebt, stirbt einmal mehr (1989)
Slippery bounty
Tempted by the prospect of desirable Christmas money, Henry takes the job of proving wether or not notorious embezzler Max Zinder is still alive from a Brit named Sinclair, enlisting the help of his ex-wife/sidekick Lisa, they discover someone is covering any tracks and they may have been used.
British director Sidney Hayers helms this and at least four others, this has at least one car chase, one ski chase and a woman named Pat Kenny (no connection to the Irish tv presenter thank God) and Mr Hayers clearly uses his experience from many a car chase with KITT to make it good.
Tears sometimes are not a girl's best friend.
Blaues Blut: Gegen die Uhr (1989)
Criminal gauntlet
Dubiously urged to "volunteer" for a mission of mercy: driving an important whistleblower to Rome for a life-saving operation, Henry takes the back roads to avoid the mobsters with a serious psychological allergy to going to going to prison, ex-wife Lisa manages to catch up with him to help which she does.
This show may not be award winning but it can be entertaining if you're a fan of "Knight Rider, The A-Team" etc, it does have the European scenery and 80's quantness to entertain plus this episode has a vehicular jump that would rattle your bones.
(Plus I have a soft spot for underdogs of television)
