Downton Abbey: A New Era (2022)
Absolutely fantastic, beautiful, entertaining marvelous
An excellent movie, following the happenings of the Crawley family after the extraordinary TV series. Beautifully shot, really top acting and very entertaining.. I wonder why nobody has realized the homage paid to the famous film "Singin' in the Rain" of 1952.by the producers of Downton Abbey, a New Era. For those too young to remember, the film depicts the beginnings of sound movies with all the funny situations that came out upon adapting the new technology. Downton Abbey, the new era deals with the same issue when sound was introduced to movies in 1927. I am sure that the producers took into account and was inspired by the 1952 movie directed by Stanley Donnen when they wrote the situations of filming a sound movie in Downton Abbey. We are eagerly awaiting the 7th season of Downton Abbey and we are sure it will be a success. Eduardo, from Colombia.
The Flight of the Phoenix (1965)
The importance of the hobby of aeromodelling
The Flight of the Phoenix is without doubt a wonderful movie with very few flaws. Surprisingly, one of the issues of the film apart from surviving, is the importance of model airplane designing, building and flying. It is a fact that the most important aviation pioneers and also astronauts, test pilots and aircraft engineers have all been or still are ardent aficionados to aeromodelling. Model airplanes are far from being "small airplanes for big boys". They are scientific apparatuses that operate exactly the same way as full size ones from basic design, structures and up to flying performance). It is not like small car racers, model railroads and other hobbies that have nothing to do with its full size counterparts. So the main merit of this wonderful movie is the fact that Herr Dorfman was a MODEL AIRPLANE designer and after applying his knowledge, he designed and built the Phoenix. No model aircraft; no Phoenix.
And James Stewart was not only a pilot. He even had his own full size Cessna 310. He was also an AVID MODEL AIRPLANE BUILDER AND FLYER. Perfect choice for this excellent movie. A wonderful actor and person.
Model airplane aficionados: watch it several times and get touched when you watch the scene when Herr Dorfman tells his friends that he is the designer of model airplanes for the SCHUCO German model airplane kit manufacturer and how he defends the fact that he doesn't design toys!!!!
Best wishes to all. Eduardo (Greetings from Colombia).
Madame Butterfly (1995)
Excellent performance poor acting
This rendition of my favourite opera is extremely good. Beautiful scenery excellent singing and orchestra and very good development of the story with several acenes that add mood to the story. Two issues that I find not good enough, first, Butterfly's acting is a little cold, lacking more feeling and the Bonzo uncle shouldn't arrive "flyng", this work is no science fiction movie. It is an extremely touching story with a beautiful strong music and singing so in my opinion, any scenes that are not real, are out of place. Apart from these issues, I find this movie beautiful.
Aftershock (2012)
The worst film I have ever seen in more than 50 years of movie watching
Aftershock is disgusting, dirty, decadent, it shows the worst instincts of human beings. Acting is very bad, scenes are extremely strong and the entire film is completely negative. From the first scene to the last one. I was extremely shocked to see how can producers spend a lot of money on a film that has absolutely nothing positive. No message, no respect, no shooting quality, a completely terrible script etc.
Ratter (2015)
Too boring
Boring, not interesting, flat and with a terrible unexpected ending. Scenes are repetitious. Acting is fair but the whole script is weak due to bad scenes handling. It is very easy to lose interest in the picture And after some action begins, an unexpected end closes everything very bad. The only positive issue is perhaps some very different scenes that help a little to hold until the picture ends.
