Day Shift (2022)
Fox is likeable but the acting is terrible.
Whoever cast this film is obviously no judge of good acting. You can forgive the poorly written script and TV movie vibe, but the acting stinks.
Just another disappointing offering from the failing streaming service, but not surprise there.
1883 (2021)
Turns into a cringeworthy soap opera.
Like many others, I was really enjoying this up until the point were it descended into an embarrassing soap opera. This revolves around the character Elsa and her tiresome and completely unbelievable romantic relationships. Great actors like Sam Elliott are pushed to the side as they drive this progressive agenda down your throat, which is ruining drama.
The Witchfinder (2022)
Great cast but not very funny
Really looking forward to this, but it's turning out to be such a disappointment. The script just isn't funny and the woke casting is completely ridiculous and pointless. The BBC haven't had a decent comedy for well over a decade now, maybe they need to look back and remember how it used to be done.
The Last Bus (2021)
Nothing good to see here.
No one can deny that Timothy Spall is a great actor, but the character he plays here is far too decrepit and inaudible to draw you into the story. The film is also full of woke cliches that get very tiresome. It's hard to make a bad road movie, but they've managed to crack it here.
Sweet Girl (2021)
Dreadful Netflix Drivel
Completely ridiculous premise of a small woman being able to beat up grown men sums up this utter nonesense. The acting is poor, the script worse and it's way too long. Avoid at all costs.
2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams (2010)
Not A Patch On His Last Offering
As I really enjoyed Tim Sullivan's 2005 remake '2001 Maniacs', I foolishly thought this would have the same fun set pieces and wacky script.
However it is devoid of any real gore, the acting is wooden, and the script so poorly written. I was forced to hit the fast forward, which is something I rarely do.
The real shame is that does have actors like Lin Shaye and Bill Moseley going to waste. It's easy to maybe cite a reduced budget or external factors, but it's hard to make excuses for this turkey.
I'd avoid unless your a real masochist.
