Decent Low Budget Action
27 February 2024
Pretty clear from the start they didn't have a whole lot of money with this, but as long as you're not expecting a $100 Million movie like John Wick it's an enjoyable watch.

Unlike a lot of low budget movies it doesn't stay in one place, it moves around the city which is cool to see. Nothing worse than a movie that stays in one room all the time, especially when it's obvious it's a set that isn't believable. I've seen too many movies like that and they're just boring.

The story is interesting and the actors are mostly good, apart from a few of the local actors who are in it for about a minute each.

Should work, but doesn't.

This is quite a well done movie but none of the scares actually work, and I'm not too sure why.

The script is basically Predator with some supernatural element replacing the Predator. It's quite astonishing just how many elements of Predator they ripped off, even a couple of lines as well.

Unbelievably bad
14 July 2021
It started off mediocre, but then hit comedy gold with the arrival of the hit team, a bunch of out of shape middle aged woman. Must be the most inept action scenes ever filmed. It looked like the producer's mom asked if her friends could be in the movie.

What is sad is that this isn't the director's first film, he's been doing this for over ten years. Time to stop and change career, please.

What's the plot? No idea. Who cares?

Could have been great
14 May 2021
I really liked this at the start, but then drifted away from it. It's obviously low budget but has a great feel to it thanks to the main actor, but then the cracks start to show. The crime scene with one tech and no uniforms just shows the movie's limitations. Add in a few bad actors and a ridiculous coincidence at the end it just left me feeling hollow, thinking of what could have been.

Solid Movie

A good movie, something that doesn't rely on CGI or explosions, but just goes for a creepy unsettling feel, and Pare is great at this.

Starts in the middle, stays there.

You'd think Tom Hanks would know all about 3 act structure and character development, there's none of that here. Apart from a brief flashback it starts right in an action scene before we've had a chance to get to know the characters. Then it's all shouted orders and the hunt is on. It all becomes tedious.

Not good
20 March 2020
Either this writer has no idea how the prison system works, or he just doesn't care. The movie didn't make a lick of sense from beginning to end. I could list all the ridiculous things, but it's just not worth it. I know this is just a dumb dinosaur movie, but even so, its got to be close to real life at some point. I saw this only because of Robert LaSardo. He does a good performance but it's not enough, he is drowning in a sea of dross.

Awful

I agree with all the negative comments made about this movie, but nobody has pointed out what struck me as the worst- They have an assembled team and NOBODY seemed to be in charge in the team. Ok that adds tension with them arguing, but come on. Another thing, I've never seen so many unmilitary haircuts in an army movie.

No sympathy
15 January 2020
All through watching this I kept thinking of Figures In A Landscape and how much better that movie was. In Figures you had two characters trying to reach a border. In this movie there's one character that you know can't ultimately escape. There's also no dialog so we never get to know the character. Ultimately I really didn't care one way or the other.

Very Cheap But Enjoyable.
15 January 2020
The lack of money is apparent in nearly every scene of this movie, but it's an interesting fast moving story so all in all I still enjoyed it. Just be prepared for very cheap fx and supposed crowd scenes where you only see six people clustered around Mr Goss.

Who to believe?
13 November 2019
A lot of these reviews are suspicious, not just the positive ones. Two of the 1star reviewers have never rated anything else either. I wonder if this is all a friends vs enemies of the cast/crew. It's not a 1star movie or a 10star movie. I'd rate it a 6. It's entertaining and doesn't go where I expected it to go. Sure, some things could have been done better, but it's still a reasonable watch.

Watchable

For a low budget movie with Danny Trejo this is actually way above what he usually stars in. There's actually decent direction, acting, effects and a reasonable story about drug cartels employing killer robots. The one star reviews are way off the mark. Sure it ain't the best, but I've seen plenty of movies deserving one star, and this ain't one of them.

Another Cheap Horror
21 March 2018
The old horror favorite, a school with six students. The excuse this time is that its a boarding school, in the holidays and the remaining students are all orphans. Sounds bad? It gets worse. Simon Loui shows up as a 30 year old student too afraid to graduate. To his credit he does his best with what he has been given, but its a bit rubbish really. A new student turns up and things to get strange and people die. Michael Wong wanders in and out as a policeman not understanding anything. His voice has been dubbed and strangely even copies the parts where he breaks into English because he has forgotten his Cantonese lines instead of dubbing it all in Cantonese. I can appreciate cheap horror but this is worthless.

Cop show with a difference
7 June 2012
This is a wonderfully warm hearted cop show from Japan. It concerns an ongoing murder inquiry by the excellent Hiroshima Abe playing the Shinzanmono(stranger)

What makes this different from every other cop show is that each week he centers on a suspect who is lying about their involvement in the murder. He pursues this ruthlessly but when he finds out they are lying because they are covering up a crisis in their lives he tries to help them and each episode ends positively. Eventually the murderer is caught at the end of the series but it's more the journey, the cat and mouse Abe plays with the suspects and the conclusion that satisfies. This all done with the typical Japanese politeness.

Playing both the hard edged cop who is also a warm hearted caring human being would be a it stretch for any actor but Hiroshi Abe does a wonderful job

Humorous Cop Show
7 June 2012
The main theme of this show is that each episode the murderer is found within the first five minutes. Then the detective says no that's too easy and he will come up with the solution in 33 minutes. He then comes up with increasingly ridiculous theories about who did it before admitting at the end it was the person they had arrested right at the start. The first episode was entertaining but the number of jokes get fewer and fewer as the series goes on and it all just ends up being a bit boring.

It also steals two running gags from the Naked Gun TV show. A good idea but let down by weak scripts.

Waste of time
5 August 2005
This movie looks like it should be an entertaining screwball comedy but its anything but. Its actually a really tedious story about four school girls who start their own brothel. Simon Loui plays one of their uncles. It looks like his large part was shot in one day as he wears the same shirt throughout. The plot goes nowhere until the end when they tack on some plot about some woman who is looking for Loui. The other main actors featured on the cover only show up for about a minute each, no doubt on their lunch break from some other movie shoot.

Its all such a terrible waste of time, a case of making something to sell it, no way could they think somebody might have enjoyed this

I own 500 Hong Kong movies and this is the absolute worst.
