Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023)
Definitely not an Oscar winner, but a fun and crazy horror movie nonetheless
I'll admit. When this movie was revealed, I was 100% against it. A Winnie the Pooh horror movie? The concept was blasphemous. But overtime, I slowly started to open up to the idea. I still wasn't sure I was going to see it, but I ended up caving.
Granted, the movie definitely isn't perfect. But it has some great kills, a good bit of suspense, and some admittedly great performances by the actors playing Pooh and Piglet. And honestly, it distanced itself from the Disney version of the characters and the tone of the books enough that my childhood really isn't ruined by this movie.
All in all, for an independent horror movie made on such a small budget of less than $100,000 it's pretty good. It has the energy of a grindhouse midnight movie.
Meet the Feebles (1989)
Disgusting, unfunny, and just plain disturbing.
Alright look. I love when puppets are used for mature comedy. So when I came across Meet the Feebles, I felt this was my kind of movie. I watched the trailer, it looked hilarious. I saw the posters of the hippo with the machine gun, I felt this was going to be a wild ride.
BOY WAS I WRONG.
For the next half hour, I saw one of the worst movies I had ever seen. Sure, the puppets looked cool, but that's about it. The movie was boring, the plot was all over the place, there was too much gross out humor, and it was not funny at all. It's like they figured "Oh, it's puppets doing adult things, that's funny on its own!" It's not.
And the ending, where the main protagonist snaps and shoots up the place, killing almost all of the characters, is just plain disturbing, especially in 2022.
Peter Jackson has given us some incredible films. Meet the Feebles is not one of them.
Blue's Clues & You! (2019)
Blue is Back!
Ok, I'll admit I was just a touch reluctant when I heard they were reviving Blue's Clues. That show was a staple of my childhood growing up. But they did incredible! It's not a reboot it's a continuation, they only changed a couple things, and Blue is so cute! I also love the excited energy that Josh brings to the show.
Jay and Silent Bob's Super Groovy Cartoon Movie (2013)
Eh, it's ok.
I mean, it's alright. I got a few chuckles out of it. The story itself was good, the cast was great. The art style was weird it looked like something out of Mad Magazine or the Mad TV show from Cartoon Network. The movie was EXTREMELY graphic, and I don't just mean for violence, I mean the other thing too. I guess they figured they could get away with more since they were animated instead of live action, but it was just kinda gross. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. This was definitely the weakest thing to come out of the View Askewniverse.
The Little Hours (2017)
Great movie, bad ending.
I loved almost every minute of this movie, from all of John C. Reilly's scenes, to Dave Franco's very descriptive confession of the affair his character to he, to Aubrey Plaza's emo nun moments.
However, the ending is awful! Sure, it's happy, the nuns go and save Dave Franco from being tortured in a dungeon, but it doesn't show them sneaking in or anything, it just cuts to them rescuing him, and it goes off without a hitch. There's no chase scene or anything, they just get away. And then it doesn't wrap the story up it just shows them running off.
Other than that, hilarious movie, definitely recommend it.
