Star Trek: Discovery: Jinaal (2024)
I'm impressed at the people's ability to write detailed reviews
When I watched this episode, I had to prevent myself from feeling sick because of all the bad acting and bad dialogue. How can people tolerate the cringiness and write objective reviews?
It's always this same specific type of emotional reaction from all the characters and especially Adira.
All conversations are emotional support, and avoiding any word that may cause some feeling of discomfort, God forbids.
Even children's animated movies contains more realistic emotional reactions.
It really feels like the people who create these episodes are afraid of something, and they try to walk between mines while writing the dialogue.
I wish they allow the creativity run free without being tied by the chains of social acceptance.
Autómata (2014)
A Disappointing Experience: Automata (2014) - A Tale of Incompetence and Unanswered Questions
Automata, released in 2014, promised an intriguing story set in a dystopian future where humanoid robots gain sentience. However, this film ultimately falls flat due to a lackluster plot and the frustrating incompetence displayed by its characters, particularly the main actor Antonio Banderas.
One of the most frustrating aspects of Automata is Banderas' character's complete disregard for asking questions. Despite being confronted with a world-altering discovery - robots developing consciousness - he never shows any curiosity or desire to understand why the robots are doing what they are doing. Instead, he simply complains about things not going his way, displaying a shallow and self-centered demeanor that quickly becomes tiresome.
But Banderas' shortcomings are not the only problem with this film. The supporting cast also leaves much to be desired. These characters repeatedly engage in unexplained actions that consistently land them in trouble. Instead of acting rationally or attempting to comprehend the situation, they persistently make foolish decisions that defy logic. It is baffling how nobody wants to listen or understand what is happening, further highlighting the incompetence of the human characters.
What could have been an exploration of humanity, ethics, and the consequences of artificial intelligence is reduced to a frustrating spectacle of missed opportunities. The film fails to delve into the deeper implications of the robots' sentience and the moral dilemmas it presents. Instead, it opts for a surface-level narrative that never truly challenges or engages the audience's intellect.
Furthermore, the film's direction and pacing lack cohesion. Scenes jump from one plot point to another without proper development or explanation, leaving the audience feeling disconnected and confused. The narrative fails to establish a clear direction, leaving important questions unanswered and storylines unresolved.
In conclusion, Automata disappoints with its lackluster execution and frustrating character choices. Antonio Banderas' character's unwillingness to ask meaningful questions and understand the situation at hand diminishes any potential for emotional investment. The supporting cast's inexplicable actions further compound the film's flaws, ultimately resulting in a disjointed and unsatisfying experience. For those seeking a thought-provoking exploration of artificial intelligence and humanity, Automata is a disappointing misstep that falls far short of its potential.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: For the Cause (1996)
Another great episode in a series that doesn't get tired of delivering
The video conversation between Sisko and Eddington about betrayal, and Eddington's argument that the Federation is acting like the Borg, then Sisko's response afterwards, these talks, conflicts, morality gray areas, they make this show what it is, a thought provoking Scifi with a taste of reality. I honestly don't know who to side with.
Star Trek: Turnabout Intruder (1969)
Annoyingly non intellectual
I will not discuss the point that this is the last episode, instead I would like to point out something objective in relation to the events.
Captain Kirk's mind is swapped with the mind of another person's, a woman, who wanted to take his place as the captain of the Enterprise.
In a situation like this you would think surly there must be a way to know which one is the real captain kirk, by all the smart people aboard the Enterprise, but somehow no one can tell, even after physical an mental examination of the imposter.
Ok forget asking questions only kirk would know, what about security protocols, authorization keys to take over the ship, activate and deactivate the self destruct sequence, transfer control of the ship to auxiliary control room? How did the imposter plan to know these things when the time comes?
I don't think TOS being an old show excuses it being intentionally ignorant of basic logic, there were many shows and movies from that period with much greater intellect. Neither does the low budget justify that. Even I would write a better plot events for free.
Jupiter's Legacy: Paper and Stone (2021)
Chloe
Elena Kampouris as Chloe Sampson is a great actress, I hope she gets the appreciation that she deserves.
Thor: End of Days (2020)
Not bad for a $1.5M movie
This movie's budget is $1.5M which is a fraction of a percent of Marvel's movies, you can't exactly compare.
Considering that, it's not as bad as the reviewers make it seem, you can enjoy it if you know you're not watching a blockbuster, I enjoyed it, there were very few cringe moments because of the silly screams from the main actress, this could've been improved, the visual effects are even better than what you would expect from a movie with this budget.
It Chapter Two (2019)
Nothing in this movie can keep you watching
Regardless of how long this movie is, it's too boring, I couldn't keep watching for more than half hour straight and then pause it and try to do other things then come back to it, until i almost reached a half of it (the part where billy runs to save the neighbor kid) and that's when I said that's it, I can't tolerate this boredom.
There is absolutely nothing interesting, no story, no events, no delivery, also nothing scary, it's more like a comedy satire of a horror movie.
I liked the first one by the way, so it cannot be that this genre isn't for me.
I salute anybody who could sit through it all, with or without pauses.
