Sweet Carolina (2021)
Movie So Bad, Had To Sign In to Rate
This movie was Sooo bad I had to sign on to type a review why.
1. Lacey C. 's bad (acting) reaction to her character's sister's fate. It seemed she was trying to hard.
2. None of the characters had any screen chemistry. They all seemed quite stilted and wooden in their performances. Especially the children. Their performances seemed overly sweet at times and they.themselves had no screen chemistry.
3. I underatand the boy would have a reaction to his new circumstances but at times he was sooo disrespectful to Lacey's Josie that I found it hard to believe the grandparents (especially the controlling grandad) would allow his absolute rudeness.
4. Gregory Harrison is a wonderful actor and I found it hard to believe in the screen "chemistry" between him and the mom's character. Not to mention the awful "old man sweaters" he has to wear on the movie. I cringed! He was ultra controlling and I thought it strange for a kid to return home to her close knit family after hearing tragic news where she comforts the mom and appears to have hardly two words to say to her father in their happy home. They could have utilized this good actor better in this film.
5. Could Hallmark tell Tyler Hynes to please stop wearing that awful ,messy, trying to look like he's a hipster dude with the messy beard in every movie he's done this hear (that's aired)? That look Doesn't Work For Him. Its very distracting. Also, again lack of screen chemistry between him and Lacey C. Their "love story" seemed a tack on to the main story.
6. Lastly, Hallmark if you are going to set a story in the South please use Southern accents. It comes across as inauthentic and unbelievable. Lacey IS a Southerner and could probably muster up a real accent.
Lacey Convert has done much better movies for Hallmark and I agree with all of the bad reviews submitted. The story did not seem as if they put as much effort into it as they did designing the beautiful set. Its disappointing to know that MS. Chabert co wrote the story only to submit this poor effort. This film had great potential and is a shame this was the best submitted by the writers and Hallmark. Do better Hallmark, you have enough poor films on your network. Make sure Lacey Chabert makes better films.
Christmas in Evergreen (2017)
Ashley Williams is Awful In This Movie
Ms. Williams is Awful on this film. Surprising because everything else I have seen her in has been very enjoyable and she is none of those actresses where if she's in the film, you want to watch it. Unfortunately, every time she smiled it was so phony it got on my nerves and I could not finish the film.
Holly R. Peete was totally underutilized in this film. The writers made Ms. Peete's character look as if she were incapable and inept as if she could not solve a problem without Ms. William's help. I am.not a fan of films that tear down the supporting characters in order to make the lead character look good. Especially since Hallmark is just beginning to show some diversity. The sequel is much better.
Christmas in Evergreen: Letters to Santa (2018)
Better Than the First Movie
First I am a fan of Jill Wagner Hallmark Films. She is always good in.all of them. Second, this movie was so much better than the original "Christmas in Evergreen". Ms. Wagner's character was so relatable throughout the film.and the supporting cast was great. Holly R. Peete's character was much better as well. In the first "Evergreen" film her character was depicted as a whiny character who couldn't get anything done without the lead character's help. Very annoying. Totally opposite in this film and Ms. Wagner and her male lead had good screen chemistry. This movie made me cry at the end because of the side plot relating to the male lead and I look forward to watching this again.next year when Hallmark airs it.
Cocaine Godmother (2017)
Watching this movie right now and want to know Who's idea was it to Cast Catherine Zeta-Jones as Griselda Blanco?
Catherine Zeta-Jones is a talented actress who has made good films before (Chicago, etc.) But this one is a very bad choice for her. With all the talented Latina actresses out there couldn't they have found one to play Griselda, this more than life character? Just because a white woman has really dark hair does not a Latina she make. The accent is Horrible and there are times when you hear a slip of her Welsh come out. Not only that, but while her clothes are very nice, however they make her look old like she is 60 instead of a woman in her thirties. Those scarves make her look like a cancer patient(no disrespect to said patients).
The music was great but Catherine danced horribly in it. She's a trained dancer and I am not sure why they had her "dancing" like that.
Lifetime, your movies are usually cheesy but everybody likes them so do better next time. If you want to do a movie about someone who is not white, make sure you cast actors that actually fit the role. It would be much more believable.
