Deadloch (2023)
Surprised and very glad I watched this series!
Deadloch is a wonder! I expected a stuffy whodunit with the same plot as all the other mystery shows; however, I realized just 10 minutes in, that this series was going to be a dark comedy, which was a very nice surprise!
I couldn't believe the things that started to happen. Some things are gross, others hysterical. Without giving anything away, I can at least say that the lead investigator is trying to hold a town together with paper clips and rubber bands! Everything falls apart, and keeps doing so even until the last episode!
There are some endearing characters, who don't change and happily so! I can't say anymore or I'd be giving spoilers!
I highly recommend this series. I can't stress enough how well written, directed, and developed Deadloch is. Enjoy!
The Whale (2022)
A most extraordinary story
Brendan Fraser was genuinely masterful and my heart wrenched watching his performance.
From start to finish we watch Fraser's character try to come to terms with not one, but two emotionally charged situations in his life.
The Whale is one of the best movies I've ever seen. The movie is thought provoking and awakens the viewers deepest regrets in life. Fraser's performance pushed me out of my safety bubble, and forced me to do what his character did-he let love prevail.
I'm so glad I watched The Whale. I will never forget this movie; moreover, I will never forget the performances I witnessed in this movie.
Baking It (2021)
Like a variety show!
I watched all of Season 1 and the current episodes of Season 2 of Baking It.
What a joyful, charming, and entertaining show! Baking it combines real contestants with talented and amazing hosts! Add the judges- the "Grannies"- to that mix and you get a show that makes you feel good!
The Grannies are the judges-4 lovely retired Ladies who have history with cooking and baking. They are so charming and honest in their critiques. They are cute, sitting in their rocking chairs with blankets on their laps!
Baking It is a genuinely wonderful show! You will learn cooking and baking techniques, as well as laughing a lot! Give the show a try with episode 1. I think you'll be presently surprised!
Motel Makeover (2021)
Valley Girl competition
This is the most annoying show I have watched in a long time. These girls are so busy with their pretentious valley girl imitations that it's nearly impossible to focus on the renovations. My advice? Reno your accents. I seriously put the captions on to watch the show.
Some of the renovations are so so...there are a few I would do, but I think their budget needs to be bigger to make more modern renovations for the property. With a task for the the restaurant alone the budget should be huge. Function is more important that fashion.
I feel qualified to make these comments, as my husband was a contractor for 30 years.
They should've pitched that awful dishwasher!
I Saw What You Did (1965)
This movie is a missed opportunity!
I rarely see this movie on TV, and it's disappointing! I'm in my 60's, and first saw this movie as a young teen...it terrified me! At my age a lot of kids were making prank calls, but this movie brought my prank calls to a screeching halt!
Born without cell phones, laptops, and even call waiting strikes the note of reality of the 60"s. Teenage girls take their pranks just a little too far. The results are frightening to say the least.
An older Joan Crawford has a cameo appearance, the victim a woman who pushes a man too far with threats.
This really is a good movie. The kids are good actresses, and the situation they get into can realistically occur.
Enjoy what I consider to be a timeless film.
**footnote-this movie was the inspiration for I Know What You Did Last Summer!
Murder Mystery (2019)
What a fun movie!
As somebody who has seen her share of stinkers, I thought this movie was adorable and refreshingly fun! Anniston and Sandler play to each other beautifully.
In fact the seemed believable as a couple having trouble dealing with the mundane and insecurities.
If you just want to laugh and enjoy an uncomplicated movie this is a good one!
Cinderella (2021)
Uplifting & Entertaining!
From the get-go the music was Great and uplifting! The twists and turns were different than the usual Cinderella stories from past, and it was just so much fun to watch! I really got into the music myself and I'm 63 years old! I think it's a wonderful family movie, and I will watch it again. The ending was not what was expected, but it was a pleasant surprise! So take a couple hours and just have fun!
Breach (2020)
72 minutes I will never get back.
Breach is about people running away from Earth. Save yourself and run away from this movie.
The premise of this movie was interesting.
I watched because I love Bruce Willis...who actually sees dead people. I love Thomas Jane...who was pretty good in The Predator, where he really helps kill aliens.
In regards to the set, could they only afford only 3?
In regards to the monster, I made better monsters out of flour and water in first grade. True story-I loved stop action with clay.
In regards to the ending, it was not only predictable but the movie ended abruptly as if they ran out of, well, you know, stuff.
Sorry to diss this movie so badly. I know I'm just an "arm chair critic", but I've watched hundreds (if not thousands) of movies over the course of my life, and my 3 star rating is for as follows:
1 for Bruce Willis
1 for Thomas Jane
and 1 for the guy who played the janitor-he was cute.
Life on the Line (2015)
Yikes
This movie had the potential to be a very good movie, but seriously missed the mark.
I felt that John Travolta tried to bring more than was possible, given the soft script and too many weak plot lines.
Being a lineman is dangerous and unforgiving. Being someone who knew the tragic loss of a linesman, the only hope is that people come away with that knowledge-to honor those who risk their lives every day, so that we have the comforts for a good life.
RIP Dean Batey
Cosmos (2019)
This is a good movie!
I was pleasantly surprised that a movie with just 4 actors could pull off such a wonderful movie. I go away with two things:
What's out there?
What's in here?
The movie delves into the friendships of 3 men who at the same time are attempting to survey the sky.
There was little to no bad language, and the acting was great!
I definitely recommend this movie.
Dark Encounter (2019)
I was surprisingly pleased by this movie
Dark Encounter started out as what I thought would be another hokie alien movie; however, the plot took an interesting turn and I really like this movie! What a nice surprise it was.
Planet of Dinosaurs (1977)
Yes, I gave this movie 10 Stars!
If you've read the other's reviews you already know the plot. What I'm going to say is this:
I laughed 10 times harder today while watching this, than with any other movie I watched! I was a teen in the 70's and tried to imagine myself watching it....I love it!
Yes, my expectations of this movie were higher, but guess what? It was fun!
Now, after I watched this movie I watched it on Rifftrax.....I think I broke another rib laughing!
If you can take a joke and are looking for a fun, retro-inducing movie, here it is!
Destroyer (2018)
I'm sorry, Ms. Kidman...
I really wanted to like this movie, as I like Nicole Kidman very much.
What a difficult time I had trying to like it, but every overworked, tough cop cliche is in the first 8 minutes of this movie.
I hated that this movie had bad makeup, bad hair, and a bad script.
Hangman (2017)
Storyline was like a slinky, just kept going down, down, down...
The whole movie was not well written. The medical examiner acted as if she'd never done an autopsy before. Al Pacino's accent, which I finally figured out its southern...I think, and with all due respect to this gifted actor, this was a poor venue for him.
There were moments that almost made the movie redeemable, but the movie still came out with a negative balance.
It's almost as if this were a movie made where the actors had to do community service. I tried to like it, I really did, but no go.
Razorback (1984)
Worst movie I've ever loved!
This movie is so painful to watch, but you can't look away! It's like a train wreck in slow motion, and, one by one, the cars are flying off the track. The smartest thing to do is watch this with someone you hate. If you enjoy watching bad movies and imitating MST3K then this is the movie for you. I won't even say anything to spoil it, as it sat in the sun too long already, and got spoiled when the director said cut and print. Enjoy? I mean, enjoy!
