Skinamarink (2022)
SkinamarinkiDont
Seems like a recent film graduate had his parents money and wanted to make a movie. Once you work in the Hollywood Film Industry, you meet people like this often. The ones who write, direct, edit...you know what I'm talking about. As a devoted horror fan, I knew this was the type of movie I'd either really love or really hate. I'm leaning towards hate...and hate is a strong word.
I JUST finished it and have been thinking of what to say in my review because I knew I was going to leave one. I'll start by saying I am very confused to of what the purpose of this movie was. I can dissect aspects of it and probably figure it out. We learn that "Kevin" (also my name) has fallen down the steps because he was sleepwalking. Okay, great. So is this movie his perspective of being in a coma? Or is he dead? Really not sure! I can say I do appreciate this film being different and unique. That I can respect. On the flip side, what the actual blank did I and so many others just watch? I'm not hating on it because it's different. I'm hating on it because it made absolutely no sense.
Almost every single scene is a static shot of a wall, the floor, a door, a tv, toys, closets, beds and even a toilet. That tells my brain that this isn't a movie completely. There were definitely some scenes where I did feel terror and anxiety. When they were able to capture those emotions, it worked. But the problem is the entire movie gives us nothing to really go off of. I'm a film lover who doesn't always love when movies spoon feed us everything. I often like to leave a movie having to use my brain to think of what I just watched. But not this one. This was too much of a subjective film, with little to no context. Also, what did the script look like? Had to be all interior shot descriptions with minimal dialogue.
I'll touch base on the possible Demon in the house. That part was creepy but again, why? And what? Was Kevin dead and stuck in his house and is now in hell or limbo? Was his sister dead too? Why weren't the parents there? So many unanswered questions. I'm going to need to read an article or a Reddit thread to find answers because I can't figure it out.
If you like experimental horror films that ummm give you virtually nothing, then go for it. I think most people will be bored of this movie. Oh and by the way it just ends and says "the end". So confusing!
Pet Sematary: Bloodlines (2023)
Skip This One
Immediately when I saw this on Paramount, I had low expectations, simply because the theatrical 2018 PS was hot garbage. This one somehow surpassed that. The first act had a lot of promise and I was actually enjoying it. The gore was good, it had some action in it, the dog was very adorable. But after the protagonist sort of catches on to what is happening, it falls short. By the time the climax happens you begin to think "is this over yet?" The ending was poopoo, closing out with "sometimes things are better off dead". Grrr so cheesy and weightless.
I cannot STAND horror movies that cut right when someone is being killed. It's lazy, it's stupid and it seems to be a way to save money on special effects. Why do directors do that??? The movie just made absolutely no sense in both story, cinematography and wardrobe. The locations were great, but whoever was in charge of costume design should have been fired. This takes place in the 60's and the ONLY thing that was even in that era was a VW Beatle. Maybe some outfits in one scene, but eh that's about it.
Every character in Bloodlines seems to have zero personality or depth. It's like they are all stoned and depressed, having a monotone voice. There's no character development for any of the leads. It just seems like it was a very corporate film with where they wanted to push a new Semetary movie out as quick as they can. Paramount as been successful with stream released movies. Not this one!
Give it a go if you have time to waste or it's a rainy Sunday. If you love fun kills, a plot or any depth in a horror film, skip it. I promise it's NOT good.
Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023)
CGI Gore Cannot Be Taken Seriously
It takes away so much from a horror movie. This film clearly had a very low budget. I don't understand why they have these gnarly kill scenes and then pay someone to edit in CGI blood...it's so bad. There is no plot, no story, nothing to zone you into the film.
Can we talk about the awful masks??? Jesus lord it's terrible!! It's CLEARLY a silicone mask the characters are wearing. They also have human hands? When did Pooh get thumbs? 😹
The continuity is also something that lacks. One girl gets her head smashed in and then a skull chunk flies off to the side in frame and then all of a sudden it disappears. WHY?? Oh, right. Everything is CGI.
Skip it. Don't support it. Now they are making a second one?? Really? Maybe this time they learned their lesson and will use more practical effects.
In Fabric (2018)
The Dress Floats
In Fabric is quite an interesting, bizarre film. No need to type out a synopsis of the film, that's what IMDB is for. I watched the trailer for this and the close ups, strange audio, quick cut-shots really pulled me in to click play. I love a unique horror film that makes me think, and this movie definitely did that. Honestly I will say, if I hadn't read the first sentence of another review on here that had "consumerism" in it, I am not entirely certain I would have picked up on that theme until the very end of the movie.
Majority of the movie has you guessing if the dress is cursed or if it is some type of illusion that these characters are experiencing. A lot of it is very confusing, especially the lead sales character who we aren't sure what she is. Is it a cult? Is she a witch? Why is her being bald so important? I couldn't tell you. Her strange henchman that never says anything also threw me off. I assume he is the owner of the department store, but what was their relationship and what was he whispering to her that made her snap out of her current emotion? Also couldn't tell you.
I like the theme of consumerism is killing us all, controlling our minds and it works well I suppose. I think what turned me off was that the dress could fly, float, crawl, make rashes appear on the skin but without an explanation to of WHY. Again, was the department store a cult who put a spell on this fabric or dress? I don't know! Maybe I'm missing the mark here. I enjoyed it for the most part. It's odd, creepy, eerie, beautiful and whimsical. But I don't think it deserves another above a 6 or 7. Seems like the director/writer just wanted a fancy art movie so he could complain about capitalism.
The Whale (2022)
Tear Crushing Tragic Story
I have been waiting to watch this movie for quite sometime. Never made it to the theaters to see it. Kept telling my partner we NEED to see it. I thought the title was intriguing because it is about an obese man so I found it sort of ironic. I saw many short teaser trailers saying "Fraser gives the performance of his life" - all of that promo stuff.
Last night I actually paid the rental fee on Prime to watch it since I was over waiting to see it. It opens with something I did not expect at all. I will not give any spoilers, but as a gay dude myself, I was...shocked? Annoyed? But as the story continued and unraveled the darkness of this mans life, I couldn't hate it. I NEVER cry during movies. It is very very rare (pure honesty). And when I say cry, I dont mean watery eyes, I mean outright tears dripping down my face and meeting at my chin, cry.
Now I know, imagine that. A gay guy crying during a gay centered story. You only understand if you understand. No other way of putting it. Even if you're straight, I am sure you could feel the utter pain and suffering Charlie had in the film. Liz, the caretaker, was such a realistic type of human being. She cared so much about this man and hated him just as much at the same time because he is so stubborn. Her being a real nurse made it more impactful. Then when you find out the relationship of Charlie and Liz.....FOUNTAINS! Haha.
My ONLY reason to give this 9/10 is the casting for Ellie - Sadie Sink. I think she is a good little actor, wide range of emotion and depth. But to me she still gives that Stranger Things energy and it sort of takes me out of thinking anything but. However, she did do a great job at the audience hating her, so I suppose it worked. But whenever I see her in a serious role, I literally role my eyes.
Lastly - this story isn't a gay love tragic story. It is a story about health. I am grateful this film came out when it did. Obesity is not a joke and it is NOT a "healthy lifestyle" - seriously. Sure, we should allow everyone to feel beautiful, but we must be realistic of the consequences of what extra body fat does not only physically but mentally. I applaud this film for going there and educating us, pulling at our heartstrings.
Brendan Fraser will go down in history for this performance, no doubt. Hong Chau (Liz) was phenomenal as well. Their chemistry was incredible to watch on screen. A24 usually either delivers entirely or misses the mark. This one hit a bullseye.
Cerdita (2022)
Here Piggy Piggy!
Before you start this film:
TURN OFF THE DUBBED ENGLISH! The voice acting is awful. Watch the original Spanish film with English subtitles. Seriously.
I really enjoyed the entire atmosphere of this film. We have all seen movies where the protagonist is bullied by terrible people. The setting for "Piggy" is in a quiet little town where everyone knows each other. Which means everyone knows everything about you. Our lead is bullied by some pretty girls. It seems that Claudia used to be Sara's friend. It was not totally elaborated verbally but they did a nice job with the two girls (Sara and Claudia) having matching bracelets. So it seems they were friends before Claudia befriended the "mean girls".
I REALLY wanted this movie to be a revenge film. Unfortunately, we did not get that. I understand that Sara was not that type of girl to just end up murdering people, but the entire film built that suspense for us. It was clear that the killer wanted to keep the girls alive so Sara, at the end, would end their lives because of how they treated her. I loved how the girls were hanging, suspended in the air by rope. I just wish Sara took this opportunity to kill them. The weird love story between her and the killer was actually pretty intriguing but it didn't go anywhere. Why was he interested in her? Why did she kill him at the end? Why did she let these brats go free? For god sakes, the one bully called her piggy as she was saving her! That's the opportunity for the writing to really just take this story to where we wanted it to go. But instead she rescues them and leaves the scene.
What happened to her parents when she got home? Did the dad die? I understand we don't need EVERYTHING handed to us in movies to help us understand. But loose endings really frustrate me.
Anyway. It's a fun movie. Super suspenseful. Give it a go but do not expect a revenge movie like "Last Door On The Left" or "I Spit On Your Grave".
Story: 7/10
Scary: 3/10
Gore: 7/10
Acting: 10/10.
Old (2021)
Ignore the tasteless reviews.
Yes. We all are well aware of M. Nights downfall after The Happening (terrible terrible ending).
Honestly, I went in with very low expectations. From talk of bad reviews, to my sense of annoyance for his weird, nonsense "twists". I have watched Servant on Apple and it is absolutely incredible. So I figured MAYBE this new movie of his would be good. And it was!
The haters are senseless and do not understand how to view a movie from a deeper, more intelligent prospective. This movie touches on wealth, intelligence, greed, mental illness, growing "old" and what it does to your brain. I wish it was rated R because I love some good gore deaths. But honestly, a lot of the deaths were pretty gnarly and disturbing. This movie is beautifully shot, and the acting IS good. Not sure why these reviews say "worst acting ever". Could the ending be better? Hell yeah. But it's an M. Night movie. His endings are a hit or miss.
Old definitely is worth the watch if you can underhand on a deeper level than what the script tells you. That's the point of movies. Sometimes they don't give you everything visually but through the writing they can be quite ambiguous and make you think.
If you're lazy and don't want to have to think further than what is shown, not the movie for you. But if you actually ENJOY film and appreciate a decent story, then give this a go. A lot of it makes absolutely no sense at all, especially the ending. It seemed rushed for sure, so that was annoying. But if you listen to what the sibilants keep repetitively saying to each other, then you'll understand!
Gore: 2
Violence: 8
Story: 7
Acting: 10.
Ozark (2017)
Should have been Wendy.
I very much dislike any series or movie that starts with and "ending". They start off season 4 with the Byrde's almost hitting a semi, crashing and turning, doing Pirouette's on the highway. So of course we all think "well they definitely died." Nope. I thought AT LEAST Wendy would die. It just doesn't make any sense why they would toss this accident in the show, except to just mess with our brains. It has ZERO relation to the stories or to any character development. And they all walk out of it with barley a scratch? Really? In a Honda Odyssey? Cool Hollywood.
I'm okay (ish) with Ruth dying. I think killing off main characters makes a show better, in my opinion. But it should have been Wendy. She's pure evil. I read that the writers were split on Ruth's demise for the finale. Not sure how they green lit that. It would have made more sense for them to let Ruth have the life she wanted because that was her ENTIRE arch of the final season. The entire point of her having visions of Wyatt was so she could have that life. And then they kill her because of a tattletale and loose threat.
Not sure why tf shows continue to make horrible writing choices like this, instead of a "Plan B" option. Like killing Wendy.
Anyway. RIP Ruth.
Aquaslash (2019)
NOT SET IN THE 80's. Slow burner.
For the idiots who are not paying attention this movie is NOT set in the 80's 🤦🏻
They are the class of 2018....hence why they have newer phones. So far the movie is boring and the first 30 mins in any film, is where the audience should be pulled in. NOTHING is happening!
I am waiting for the gore.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2022)
Very pleasantly surprised!
I went into this movie with very LOW expectations, given almost all TCM movies are garbage. I'm an avid slasher movie fanatic, so of course I'm gonna watch this.
It starts off, of course, with not so awesome characters. One in particular seems to be a flaming lefty who hates guns, on account her sister was involved in a school shooting. She automatically attacks a man with a pistol on his hip, so she's annoying already.
Instead of the usual "hippie bus" this time we see the protagonists drive a fancy Tesla. So, sort of cool new take I guess. They stop at the gas station, meet the weird towns people (per usual) and go on their way.
This film touches on gentrification. The Gen-Z kids are buying an abandoned "ghost town" in Texas, where our beloved Leather Face has been staying quiet for the past 50 years. The movie went a completely different, new direction, which I think viewers either loved or absolutely hated. Personally, I liked it. Every other TCM has the same plot. Young kids stumble upon a town where EVERYONE is a part of Learherface's murdering habits. This time around, it's not quite so. Which is fresh and less annoying.
The leads are super annoying yet become sort of likable half way through. I wasn't convinced though, that I wanted any of them to survive. They tried to give us Texas, however again, not convinced. Honestly the main location looked like the backlot of Warner Brothers (gotta go to understand). We definitely got Chainsaw! Holy chainsaw. And for sure we have a Massacre at its pure definition.
This movie has a new wave to the series. I am excited to see the next one. All I'm gonna say is BUS SCENE. That scene proves that we are idiots always on our phones and not in reality. It's a mock of the younger generation as though all they care about are likes and follows. Which turns into them being ripped apart. It's awesome.
Gore - 10/10 (extreme)
Acting - 9/10
Story - 7/1 (eh)
Watch it if you want some intense gore!!
Love the blue text for credits. Really cool and fresh for this series.
OH and watch after the credits ;) will there be a second one? 🤔
Butchers (2020)
So many cut-shots.
Where is the gore? Are they serious?
I cannot STAND horror movies that CUT while the good stuff is happening. WHY! If you're gonna shoot a horror film, go all out man. Budget? Time? Laziness? Studio restrictions? I dont get it. This is NOTHING like "Wrong Turn" like some of the comments say. Sure, there is that vibe, but nah. Wrong Turn had balls with their gore and deaths. This is just another Hollywood slob thinking all people in the south act like this. It is tiring!
Zero backstory. Stupid characters that you don't care about. Obviously dont get in the tow truck....dumb writing. These lazy writers who make the characters so stupid, with no human instincts to fight back..dumb. You can still kill them off but at least let them have some sort of brain. Lead actors are doing the job of creating their own solid characters with good acting.
I will say the Cinematography is really well done. I just wish I would get gore when the title is literally "Butchers"..... Like a chick getting hit in the head with a butchers knife..but you cut away?
If you are like me, and hate cut-away shots (especially when its horror) then dont watch. It is so frustrating haha.
Give it a go if you can't find anything else to watch I guess.
After Midnight (2019)
This isn't about a monster.
It's a love story.
What happened with the editing in this movie? The girlfriend finally returns and she's doing the dishes downstairs? And we don't hear ANYTHING about what happened to her, or where she went until weeks after she has returned?! That was the perfect opportunity for the writer to explain to us what happened. But no. We get to see this long, boring dialogue that seems like it was an acting class practice in Los Angeles. I've been there. Horrible.
This movie has some comedic relief. But the ending is just cringe worthy, watching another long boring sequence of the lead acting "singing" a damn song.
Skip this one. It's poorly written. I don't get how this trash is made. It's pathetic.
Things Heard & Seen (2021)
Oof that ending ...
We know this movie is based off of a book, so let's be clear we NEVER get the full details in a movie from a book.
I read the reviews before watching this, and most had a low rating. Now I know why. The movie itself isn't horrible, I actually liked a lot of it. But that ending .... I just don't understand. Not sure if that is how the Author of the book intended it to be, but DAMN. Such a let down!
No arrest? We didn't even get to see Justine tell the detective ANYTHING. And she's a very interesting character and a huge piece to this puzzle. She comes out of the coma, to get our hopes up we will see a cool story from her, but no. I get we didn't "need" that fir the viewers, because we already know what happened. But would have been cool to see.
The ghosts? What was this movie! I am genuinely confused to of why we spent so much time getting to learn who the ghosts were, but never actually figured out the purpose. Also, there was another spirit in the house? Are we supposed to assume that spirit was a man who took over George? Just sucks. Her death was never even brought to justice, we only saw maybe 7 minutes of them trying to figure out who killed her. Again, maybe there was never an arrest in the book. But it would have been cool to see what happened to George. Did he die? Is he on an island somewhere?
I'd say watch it. But don't expect the ending to make any sense, except to have something to do with that book we saw throughout the movie. I don't get it.
Def NOT horror. Don't get your hopes up horror fans.
Mortal Kombat (2021)
If you play the video game, you'll love this.
WOW
I LOVED this new Mortal Kombat. Finally we got a very good, well directed film that we all deserved! There's gore, incredible costumes, it's funny, it's fast paced.
I could see someone giving this a lower score if they have never played the game, or not even know what it is. But from someone who played this growing up, and even now, it definitely gave me that feeling of nostalgia over and over again.
I see people giving this 5-7's? Y'all crazy. Was the storyline that bad? I don't think so. They had to start with Hanzo because he is an essential character, and everyone knows Scorpion. They had to really dig deep into what MK is, especially for those who are clueless. So it makes sense the direction they did. And this is the first installment, so once the second one comes out we will get that deep, more in-depth storyline we all know. We'll see those other characters (personally I wanted to see Jade and Kitana) but again, their storyline is so complex that it wouldn't make sense to fit it in this first one.
Again - if you played the game and are a fan, this movie is for you.
**plus James Wan produced this. Anything with his name, in my opinion, will be a movie worth watching**
The gore!!!! Fatalities!!!! Go watch it!
Wrong Turn (2021)
NOT "Wrong Turn" - Wrong Title.
I'm sick of these Hollywood writers remaking awesome originals movies, and making them NOTHING like the originals, OR sequels.
This is not the Wrong Turn franchise nor does it represent any of the past films.
If they did not name it "Wrong Turn", then it would be a decent film. But because the title is extremely misleading, it makes you wonder during the entire movie when the cannibalism begins.
Do not go into this thinking you'll see our fun, beloved, messed up face killer hillbillies (can't remember the family name) Except what you will find are totally new antagonists and storyline that has NOTHING to do with the original.
Cool movie alone, wrong title.
Honeydew (2020)
Change the title to "B Roll" because that's the entire film.
Listen to the 1 star reviews. PLEASE.
Every time I thought I understood what was going on, I was wrong. Another "back woods" movie where, of course, the "town folk" all know each other and each are involved in what is going on. Some things def stolen from Chainsaw Masc. For sure.
The ENTIRE film I kid you not is B Roll (stock footage of story placed in the movie) - oh an alarm clock that we have seen five times, a thermostat, the woods (10 sec hold), the house, the basement door. Like NOTHING is happening!
I do love artsy movies that have great cinematography, which this had, but there was absolutely no story except a couple on the verge of breaking up staying a creepy old ladies house cuz they need to jump their car (eye roll) ... IT HAS BEEN DONE.
NO GORE (seriously)
NO DEATHS (seriously)
NO HERO (seriously)
So many missed opportunities with this one. OH! But I did hear the title of the movie. Again, which had NOTHING to do with the film it's self. It could have been so so interesting with the wheat theory, because they gave us so much foreshadowing to that main theory, but nothing happened. So frustrating!!
Anyone giving this above a 3 is delusional.
Porno (2019)
Sigh.
Ughhhhhhhh. Nothing happens until an hour in. "Face palm*
Better Watch Out (2016)
🙄🙄🙄
Ugh. I wanted to like this movie. So many cool things could have been done. Yes it is horror only based on the fact that the good guys all die.
That little brat could have easily been killed or wounded and somehow no one has figured out how to get duct tape off of their lips yet. Ending is quite frustrating and I guess the writer thought it be unique to have the kid cover everything up. But eh.
Also I can't stand horror movies that cut away from the gore. What is the point in having a cool death by paint can, if the head isn't shown and we don't get to see the can hitting said head? Jealous little brat turned psycho. No back story, nothing on him. Except at the end he takes a pill??? Boring.
Waste of good gore.
Scary - 2
Gore - 3
Story - 1
Southbound (2015)
GREAT GORE/FUN MOVIE
I had zero expectations going into this movie. I am glad I didn't because I really enjoyed it. I had no idea this movie had several stories interwoven together. So when I saw the first story, I wasn't thrilled that I'd be watching an entire feature film with the two characters. But once the skeleton, spirit thing shoved his arm down the dudes throat, I was down.
Fun movie, GREAT gore, pretty solid acting. The different stories are very well thought out, and all of them have that "hmmmm WHAT?!" aspect to them.
This film is sort of like a horror version of The Twilight Zone. If you're expecting to have the story easily explained to you, and you're one to get bored easily, then this movie isn't for you.
If you like to use your brain and think about what is going on in the film, this is for you.
I don't know how anyone can rate this under a 6 after watching the car accident scene. You people suck!
The Ritual (2017)
Forget the whiners giving this a low rating.
Horror movies don't scare me. The last one that did was Hereditary. And this movie did the job.
The Ritual is a creepy, dark, terrifying film with awesome acting. The writing actually gives the characters brains and they talk about realistic decisions they would make if in this situation.
Very creative. The people complaining about this clearly don't see the greatness in this film.
Great gore and pure terror.
Kadaver (2020)
Hostel meets Hannibal
I just finished this having read through some reviews. I rarely trust reviews because they are all subjective.
The title "Cadaver" should give you an idea of some events that may take place in this maze of a movie. I didn't hate it, didn't love it. I did not realize it was a foreign film until watching it, I honestly prefer subtitles over English voice over, for obvious reasons. Saying that, I did not mind the voice over in this.
The cinematography is really beautiful. The idea of this movie is really fresh and made me want to watch it fully. The opening was incredibly strong. However, I do think it fell short with the majority of the film trying to find Alice. I would have LOVED to see more of the guests actually being hacked up and killed, because that room with the hanging bodies was really bad ass and I think they could have cut some other scenes to give the audience more of what was happening behind the scenes, rather than wait until the last 20-30 mins.
Other reviews mention this being sort of like Alice in Wonderland. I strongly disagree. Alice is not the lead character, but I suppose some details could lead to that thinking.
There is SOME gore, some pretty good scenes that keep you on the edge.
If you're looking for something new, a movie that has beautiful imagery, blood, I'd give it a go. A lot of it is pretty predictable if you're one to catch things in a script, and some of the choices the lead does is frustrating but you get that from many horror movies.
Not a bad film!!!
The Houses October Built 2 (2017)
Why did I even start the 2nd one.
Hated the first. As a huge horror fan, I still do not understand how these filmmakers even get financed for these horrible scripts?!
Unless they put all of their money together, which I highly doubt. If you're going to make a sequel...CHANGE IT. There's zero explanation for this except "we're famous from being almost buried alive experience, let's do it again!"
This could have been a cool revenge movie (maybe it is, I turned it off after saying out loud "why am I doing this again")
Ugh. Makes me so angry when filmmakers get away with such garbage horror movies. Really annoying.
The Houses October Built (2014)
Another bad found footage.
Bad writing. Stupid characters.
Typical movie that waits until the very end for everything to happens. Pisses me off.
Dave Made a Maze (2017)
Bad bad writing = bad acting
Oh, the lead actor "Dave" made me NOT want to watch this. The opening interview of him is like someone I saw in an acting class reading a scene for the teacher. But I kept watching because I wanted to see where this went.
The girlfriend comes home and cannot find Dave because he is in a fort. Then she says "I'm going to take a shower" the camera stays on the entrance for the Maze and then cuts to the girlfriend coming out in yoga clothes with a yoga mat...WHAT??? I don't get it. Horrible horrible writing.
And THEN we have to watch the interview in real time (linear time to the story) AGAIN 😫. I couldn't make it the second time. When the writing is bad, giving the actors little space for any emotion or creativity, you get bad acting. I almost started to believe they were all acting poorly to set the tone for the film. I don't know. I'm curious what the budget was and where it went to.
I did, however, love the set design and the humor in some parts made me laugh hysterically. Great imagination, great creativity. Bad writing, poor acting for what they were given.
Climax (2018)
If you've tripped b4, watch this. If not, don't review it.
Reading these low reviews, it makes one thing clear: these reviewers never experienced LSD before. Or else they would understand the art and depth of this film.
After seeing and enjoying Enter The Void, I wanted to give this a go. I knew the premise of the film and was curious to watch it. The interviews in the opening really gave us a good idea of whom we were about to watch in the film. Dance students willing to do anything for dance. (Did anyone else notice the "Suspiria" DVD to the right of the tv?)
I loved the opening dance sequence. I don't care that it was long AND one single shot. Brilliant in my opinion. The juxtaposition of the dancers being their normal, happy selves enjoying the party, to the slow (slow) build up of tripping their balls out. THAT'S HOW ACID WORKS. It can take a solid hour to kick in. I personally have never had THIS bad of a trip, but have seen people have them. I'm not sure if the amount of screaming in this film was necessary, especially since all of them had a bad trip and not a single one had a good trip makes me wonder. But again, it could happen. I've always wondered "what would we look like if sober people fake in and watched us rolling around on the floor"... this. This movie IS what people look like tripping. It is a front row seat to a bad trip.
Is it horror? Not in my opinion. But the horror of a bad trip and the events that take place? Yes.
Is it drama? Yes.
Is it art? Yes.
Thriller? Eh.
I see why Climax can be annoying. The camera angles did get a little too much for me at times, but that's the style of this film so be it.
Give it a go if you want to see a movie that goes from zero to a hundred.
