The Big Bang Theory (2007)
Simply the Best!
The Big Bang Theory is one heck of a brilliant show. A story about 4 scientists, who have one or the other issues that keep them from truly becoming who they are. Their most important personality trait is that they are super intelligent, the kind of people the world would otherwise envy. However, they have other goals and aspirations and struggle with dealing with the social situations.
The show is about their journey to becoming better people, falling in love, and learning to embrace themselves.
When you watch the first episode and then the last, you know the story has reached its full circle. I know Leonard was supposed to be the main character, but I can't help but fall in love Sheldon Cooper, a character I both love at times hate. However, if Sheldon wasn't what he was, the show wouldn't be the same.
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (2000)
If trash had a face
I wasn't a viewer of the show, but that didn't stop me from following on and off the details of this abysmally bad garbage, because people around me were tragically involved in this show. So, whether you watched it or not, avoiding it wasn't an option.
This show had had too many generations, too much drama, too much cringe that the makers needed to be sued for taking the intelligence of the normal crowd for granted.
The only positive thing I can think of is the actors. Some of the actors are really very good. But with the deranged state of Indian TV, all the talent goes out the window.
Koi Jaane Na (2021)
A lost potential!
This movie had good potential. Its premise was strong with decent characters and suspense that could keep you on the edge of your seat for 2 hours. However, the movie takes some silly routes, does things that are outrightly cliché in the horror genre and manages to become trite right away. The romance between Suhana and Kabir was at times tedious and character development for Kabir was almost none. The police officer was annoying even though she was played by a good actress.
The movie seems like a good effort, but that's just it. It never goes beyond being a good effort. Some things are introduced only for the heck of it. The movie could do without it as well.
Kunal Kapoor was the only saving grace about this movie. He's a good actor but he seemed a bit off.
Chhota Bheem (2008)
Horrid trash!
What exactly do they want to convey through this show? Chota Bheem is arguably the most popular Indian animated series but there's absolutely nothing that can be appreciated in this show. The characters are dumb and one-dimensional. The villains are so flat and boring that there's no need of them in the story at all. The characters rely ONLY on Bheem and the character has absolutely no depth to him. The ideas in this show are copied from the western shows and this show blatantly ridicules the legacy of the good shows it copies its contents from.
It's a shame kids have nothing good to watch. Doreamon is a saving grace somehow but Chota Bheem is a big thumbs down.
Ramayan (1987)
We don't deserve this epic!
Ramayan is THE best show I've ever seen (next to Mahabharata, of course), and while I always saw people praising Mahabharata, I always felt Ramayan doesn't get enough praise (which is why I was surprised at the ratings here).
The name of Shree Ram has been politicized a little too much, and quite unnecessarily so. People doubted his existence for their political gains, denied him home and whatnot. So, the show is a perfect tribute to him.
Moving ahead, yes, I did have hard time warming up to the show, but as soon as Arun Govil turned up on screen, I was blown away. Him, Deepika, and Sunil are wonderful actors with so much love and respect for the characters they portrayed. Nothing made me cry the way Ramayan did. Ram leaving for the Forest on his Vanvas. God, you are going to cry. His meetings with the people and their parting always rendered me tearful. Dashrath's death, Bharat Milap and the subsequent parting were heart-wrenching. Amazing acting.
Furthermore, the show captures the wisdom the Ravan clan had wonderfully. They, despite being evil, were wise beyond anything. Love their portrayal. Hanuman, Bharat and the rest were just as amazing. Love this show. It deserves all the love it's getting now.
The Tashkent Files (2019)
