Darkest Hour (2017)

Victory!
14 January 2019
Not many films nowadays touches people deep inside their hearts.

This one did. At least mine. I am not often generous with grading movies, but I proudly give this a 8/10.

And no Im not an englishman, im Swedish!

Gary Oldman is SUPERIOR in his acting. He is simply flawless in his acting. He even twitches his eyes from time to time making him look tired and old in his very eyes.

I dont know what else to say than bravo, and on to Victory!

Not perfect but way underrated!

Warning: Spoilers
This movie spoke to me in a good way. Its far from a perfect horror movie but it has its moments and overall its good.

What I liked most is the surroundings of a lab, kind of takes me back to the old Resident Evil games. (Read GAMES, NOT MOVIES!).

Some stuff was kind of scary bit unfortunately most of the jumpscares only got to me while the rest I didnt even flinch because they habe been seen before more or less.

I liked the music and the acting aswell. Olivia Wilde does a great job and so does Evan Peters.

I didnt like the ending very much simply because it left me feeling the story never finished. We didnt get the answers we looked for in the film. Was it a demon? The devil? Why did she do what she did? What is the purpose? To infect the world?

I give this movie a solid 6/10.

Good job but needs more work!

Attrition (2018)
10/10
Best Seagal movie in 10 years
27 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Yes....there. I said it. And I DONT regret it. For SO long I lost hope, i got so tired of being dissapointed time after time after time.

But this is without doubt the best movie Steven Seagal has done in at LEAST 10 years. Hes back for real.

I will divide it up for you:

1) Music. Great, asian feeling, mysterious feel, very very Kung Fu. Bonus in the credits for you all.

2) Environment. Beautiful settings of Thailand, rainforests, small asian towns, backgrounds, asian style houses and interiors.

3) Message. Yes, Seagal used to want to deliver a message in his glory days movies. Something that got lost on the way of later movies. Well....message recieved Sensei!

4) Acting. Yes, he actually DOES ACT in this movie. He is caring, sad, laughs, calm, serious. Why? Because for the first time in years he finally gets to do a movie he cares about. So will the fans.

5) Martial arts. Oh yeah.......havnt seen this great martial arts in Seagals movies since Belly of the beast and Into the sun. I love it. Kung Fu, Aikido, Wing chun, Thaiboxing. Its all there, packed into a glorious martial arts explosion of precision and grace.

6) Action. What is a Seagal movie without a few gunshots right? But this time its focus is more on the fist and not the gun.

7) Story. The story is simple, yet classic Seagal.

8) Wardrobe. SPOILERS! Seagal looks friggin amazing in that Kung Fu jacket combined with that hat. The beard on that, he looks like a true master.

To sum it up, im so happy. My spark had been reignited. Thank you Mr Seagal for showing us all you can still get the job done.

End of a Gun (2016)
10/10
I dont see a reason for a 3.9/10 rating. Its good!

Warning: Spoilers
First of all. We ALL know Seagal is putting out movies like there is a movie store atm behind him. But still, if you give this movie a shot, and think about it, its actually not that bad!

Seagal is looking good for his age, he had his special "Seagal" charm and attitude. Staying all calm. Bjt this movie delivers some fun jokes and lines from time to time.

His cameo, an old cop does a great job as supporting actor. The main villain, oh man he is PERFECT for the role! He doesnt over act in any way, he had his special character going, the settings are all bright and nice, making you wanna be there. The movie does capture the beauty of Paris.

The special effects are NOT bad as for in example "Code of Honor". No computer animated crap, real explosions, great blood effects and also the way the movie is shot gombined with the music, makes it work fine.

The female lead is OK. She aint bad, but she aint particulary good actress either. But she works as a sneaky damn character ripping people off.

The thing that made me want to see more and actually get interested, was the scene where rhe main bad guy suddenly slit a guys throat like a complete psychopath. I didnt really expect it so it caught me off guard. Good entrance for him!

Also i loved the ending scene, especially the knife fight. I mean COME ON! We just got a flashback to the good old knifewielding scene of Under Siege 1 when Casey Ryback met Tommy Lee Jones in a knife fight. THANKS!

The movie overall could have had more tempo and aldo the last scene where all characters were presented with the actors names, if I was in charge I would freeze the pictures on the characters, making it a "drawing" and place the name besides it. It would look better, be odd and add a more "special touch" to the whole movie experience.

Mr Seagal, good job overall! I liked it and it didnt dissapoint me as perhaps Code Of Honor and Flight Of Fury and others did.

I give it a 7/10. / Sonichund
