Gem of a movie
Wow! What a gem of a movie. I found the cinematography, the acting, the story, very engaging without overtly giving the plot away.
In fact, I would go so far to say, as this was probably the most discrete, and emotionally engaging movie on the AIDS crisis, and coming out that I've ever seen. I challenge the viewer of this film to look for those keywords that would describe what's going on in the picture. They are not spoken, they are not mentioned, yet the film is emotionally powerful because of that. It's as if the Director said, "let's tell a story without telling the story"
It so good. I highly recommend it, and wish I had seen it in the theater.
House of Boys (2009)
A hidden gem
I wasn't expecting much from this movie, based on the title alone. I'm glad to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Wonderful story, thoroughly engaging characters, And if I hadn't lived in that era and witnessed everything myself, I would find it hard to believe. Take it someone who survived the 80s during the plague and lived to tell about it, this movie hits all the right spots. If you were up in the 80s, and also our survivor, check this movie out...... You'll be surprised. Highly recommended.
The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018)
Wow - any John carpenter / classic horror fan has got to see this movie!
I hear the complaints from the other reviews, and original it ain't. Let's be honest, if you want originality in horror read a book...But let's appreciate it for what it is! And let's count the classic horror movie "homages"! From Halloween; Christine, to Texas chainsaw massacre....the movie has style! The pool scene is an instant classic, the final truck chase is also one to remember. Leave you Brain at the door, grab some popcorn, and enjoy some fun nostalgic horror!
The Snowman (1982)
A Christmas classic
Although not as well known in America like Friday, Rudolph, or Charlie Brown...this s an absolute classic. Warm, funny, and so so original, do yourself a favor and share it with your kids. There are no spoken words, and there is no need for them....it's all heart,
