The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 3: The Streets of Mos Espa (2022)
Star Wars Stumbles
When I saw Robert Rodriguez was directing, I was hoping for 'El Mariachi Star Wars', but what he gave us was 'Spy Kids Star Wars'. So stupid and disappointing. It doesn't fit with anything in the Star Wars universe. I'll probably watch the next episode, but my expectations have fallen so far... maybe I'll just rewatch The Mandelorian.
Lethal Weapon (2016)
Super Fun!
With a great mix of action, comedy and heart, this show is such great fun to watch. A family favourite!
The Fall (2013)
Well done but slow
This is a well acted show with a plot that kept me interested, but the long, drawn out lulls grew tiresome. They could have made the show significantly better (and a number of episodes shorter) by just cutting out long, slow shots that cut back and forth to people thinking that were likely meant to build suspense but did the opposite by getting boring, and added nothing to character development. Sometimes the show seemed that it couldn't decide what it wanted to be, there is one episode that came across as a medical drama and was completely inconsistent with the other episodes and added almost nothing to the story. Good show, worth watching, but is made better if you can fast forward the tedious bits.
Hinterland (2013)
Incredible quality
I'm consistently surprised by this show. Everything is of the highest quality, which when all the ingredients come together, makes for a compelling and emotionally impactful drama. Powerful acting, highly artistic cinematography, creative editing, and an emotional score create a compelling moodiness that seems to be reflected in the locations, and it draws me in. The writing doles out information and builds characters at a pace that is long enough to be suspenseful but not too long to become tiresome. I'm very impressed.
Wind River (2017)
An Important Story
A beautifully made film, excellent on every level. Yet it brings more to the table in its handling of extremely important and delicate subject matter. This film must not only be seen, but heard.
Collateral (2018)
Visually Stunning
I disagree with many of the low marks given to this series. It was extremely well done in every aspect, and though a slightly slower paced than many of my favourite shows and films, the production is superb and kept me spellbound. What most have ignored here is the incredible cinematography and editing work that went into this, and I feel it's some of the best I've seen in some time. I really hope to see more of this series.
Numb (2015)
Watch this film!
Watching this film was a fantastic experience! Everything about it was completely on-point... acting, dialogue, cinematography, makeup, colour, score... everything!
My wife and I were both taken by surprise, there was one moment we both jumped in our seats we were so engrossed in the film. We looked at each other with big smiles... I love those moments!
I don't want to give anything away, so watch this film and be prepared for an exceptionally believable experience that will transport you to a bitterly cold wilderness and keep you thinking about human nature, consequences and the lies we tell ourselves to justify our actions. I highly recommend this film.
