Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019)
A 2019 Pre-October Adrenaline Rush OF FEAR!!!
If this were a Try Not to Cringe Challenge on this movie, I'd say chances are you could fail more times than not if you're new to the horror genre.
First of all, how can anyone not like a movie that has Guillermo del Toro involved in it? I mean, I get it that he's had some terribly bad movies, but this one I felt was actually one of the most decent ones he's been involved in. It's pure tension and does have some creepy jumpscare scenes that makes it look like a horror movie.
Most movies that are inspired by the book either have been a success or flopped miserably, but I feel like this, being based off a short children's book series, I'd say delivered to a degree, minus only a few deaths in the movie. Some horror movies go WAY overboard with the kills, but this one used minimal deaths, which I'd say is a breath of fresh air, and does make it suspenseful to watch. They kept it really tight for such a movie that takes its visuals so seriously, and especially if it does follow the book in terms of the monsters. I have NEVER heard of the books myself, but if someone were to start off on something horrifying, this could be a good place to begin.
About this movie in general? Umm...not sure how to put it into words, but if I had to put it in a sentence. It's this...that I think I just have discovered the 6th level of hell...and pretty much got a big bowl of nightmares from it. The one takeaway in this movie (in which I got a big bowl of nightmares) was that ((SPOILER!)) R.E.D. Room scene. That monster pretty much was pure nightmare fuel and the way it grabbed Chuck by impregnating him into her was pretty much shock value. So yeah...thank you, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. You just gave me something that I'm marred over.
Overall, I'd recommend this movie...but not if you're going alone and don't have the guts for horror movie jumpscares. Five Nights at Freddy's ain't got nothing on this movie!
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water (2015)
Dude...just stick to the cartoons...don't rip off some ideas.
Even before I would think of seeing this movie, I know it's probably gonna go down in flames. Turns out I was right. This movie has several problems, especially if it rips off the Marvel franchise. You have Storm and Phoenix (Patrick), Wonder Man (Plankton), Spider Man (Spongebob), the Destroyer (Mr. Krabs), Squirrel Girl (Sandy), and Rhapsody (Squidward) with the Tesseract being the book and Loki disguised as a pirate. It almost makes it look like a low-carb ripoff of The Avengers, except with Nickelodeon characters. I've been a huge fan of Marvel for quite some time, but this definitely is a low blow.
I don't know about you guys, but my guess is that Stan Lee right about now will probably laugh in his grave sooner seeing this.
SpongeBob SquarePants (1999)
This show is literally going down...HARD!
I used to think it was funny from the first two seasons, but as it continued on, I think it was getting even more horrible by the second. Reasons in retrospect being that: 1) SpongeBob had failed over 1,000,000 times and is still stuck in boating school with Mrs. Puff. When in the world is he gonna be able to go get his boating license?! 2) Has only defeated Plankton once while the rest of the credit was from Mr. Krabs. 3) Acts too childish (Come on, he said that he needs to "BE A MAN!" during the Patrick's Nose episode). 4) What kind of clear message is there? I can't see it. 5) Cannot keep his nose on other people's business. 6) Doesn't take his friends/neighbors seriously. 7) Cannot say no without the courage to do it while others step over him. 8) The producers are coming up with more pointless episodes to delay the inevitable. 9) He's friends with a brain-dead idiot that doesn't understand what's going on. 10) It's failing even hard than most of the other cartoons. At least they have more success than this.
I would give this a negative score if I had to, but sadly, I would think not.
Frozen (2013)
I'm actually a lot more amused.
You know, beforehand, I used to believe that this was quite entertaining, and it is. Disney came up with something that almost all kids (And adults) to feel the sensation of singing. Every child who watches this probably is singing a lot and rather having me quite a weird vibe. For me, this was quite a better animated movie by far of what I've seen. I've been partially into few animated movies, and this one was the only one that seemed to make sense. Sure, it gets old with the singing at some point, but what's likable for kids to watch? The only issue I did have was the amount of songs in this one. When was the last time we had a Disney movie with this many songs?
Sofia the First (2012)
Wow...this is rather quite interesting.
I did scroll down the reviews on this, and saw someone who's 22 that watches this. I'm 21 and I do sometimes watch this show. I'm quite convinced that this show is rather interesting to look into compared to most of the random cartoon shows I've seen. I actually have a friend that works at Ala Moana on a Disney store that actually has her around all things Disney, which includes Sofia the First and so much more. Aside from that, the story does look well organized, each with a lesson learned in this. After all, who doesn't want to like being a princess? Girls who watch this should learn from this. The one thing that does question me is if they'll do a lot more appearances for the other Disney princesses. I would be a lot more impressed if they actually would do that.
Jake and the Never Land Pirates (2011)
Not that bad...but somewhat adequate compared to other kids shows.
(This is kind of my first, don't judge me, but I'm not sure if this counts as a spoiler.) Unlike one of the comments saying that they're 16 and watch this show, I'm 21 and do watch it at some points. Likewise, some of the cartoons have, for me, fell way below average. Shows like SpongeBob, Clarence, Uncle Grandpa, The Amazing World of Gumball, and Sanjay and Craig are an example of that. The cartoon era has died out mostly due to these new shows, but I gotta give props to Disney for a Peter Pan-like rerun, except with three pirates and not just one alone.
After all, it does show a little bit of an idea to grasp. It does teach kids how to face bullies and learn to help one another in situation. If there was one thing I could say, however, is that the changes in actors/actresses of doing the voices make it more different, but then again, maybe it's because each season probably will change from time to time, with different voice actors or actresses.
