The X Files: Babylon (2016)
Islamophobia and fear mongering
I have been a fan of the X-Files ever since day one. I watched every season again in preparation for the re- boot. I must say I was a little disappointed by some of the episodes, but none of them enough to warrant a negative review. This episode though drove me up the wall.
It portrays one of the bombers as a normal Muslim, one that prays, says "Bismillah" before eating (In the name of God), eats normal food (peanut butter & jelly), and acts like a normal person. Until the part obviously where he commits an act of terror (a term usually only reserved to Muslims). The funny thing is, if that kid was so religious and dedicated to commit mass murder, why is he listening to music in his car? Same goes for the other bomber? Seeing that music is generally forbidden in Islam (except drums I believe)
This episode is basically saying that Muslims can seem like normal human beings, but on the inside they're all plotting to blow themselves up. I loved the X-Files for never getting involved in such propaganda against religions, races etc.. Now thanks to you and this episode, myself, and all of my friends and family are boycotting the show, great job...
I did like however the fact that Scully reiterated that not all Muslims are extremists. To which then a DHS agent replies with saying that she's wrong, that they're all out to get us...
Blue Bloods: Worst Case Scenario (2015)
Leaning towards propaganda
I knew from the beginning of this episode that it will be leading towards propaganda. It began with a look at supposed Tel Aviv bombings that are obviously insinuating that Islam is to blame. The rest of the episode was nothing but negative and incorrect depictions of Muslims, from them being at strip clubs, drinking, to weird prayers and broken Arabic that has nothing to do with the religion. Nothing can describe this episode other than Anti-Islam propaganda. I have always enjoyed this series, but over time it has deteriorated and has begun to focus on topics that viewers may see negatively. I do however rate it 3.5/10 for the actors' performances
CSI: Cyber (2015)
Not Impressed
I was very excited to watch the show, but after having had the chance to watch the first episode I can say that I am not impressed. I felt as though the plot was not well formulated. A few of the actors that they had for the small bits were just awful, I mean I couldn't tell if they were pretending to be under the influence or were actually under the influence during filming. The way the whole show is captured in regards to video quality and such is also not done well. It made me feel as though I was watching a mini episode prepared by high school students without experience in film and video. It was filled with unnecessary CGI in between every scene that made it look just horrible. It looks super cheap and a waist of time, and does not come even close to other shows within the same genre. I would be surprised if it lasts for more than a season.
