Children Of The Bride, A Good Blend Of Humor & Family
22 March 2021
Being a fan of Rue McClanahan seeing this movie made me laugh because it deals with life and the love of family. The whole cast did a wonderful job, Anne Bobby's performance was decent, her character is a great combo of funny, sarcasm , and full of emotion.

The plot follows a woman named Margaret who's in her early 50's that becomes engaged to a man named John who is approaching 40, what follows is a comical and crazy road to the altar as her four grown up children come home to attend the ceremony, each one dealing with their own issues.

It was a a wonderful film with a good story.

No Other Love (1979 TV Movie)

An Exceptional Tv Love Story
9 March 2021
Seen a few films about people with handicaps such as Like Normal People, Profoundly Normal and The Other Sister, i found this simple yet endearing little gem on You tube Sunday morning and have watched it three times.

Richard Thomas & Julie Kavner delivered top notch performances as a young couple who meet, fall for each other and strive to have a life of their own without others saying they can't.

Supporting cast members include Robert Loggia, Elizabeth Allen, Norman Alden, Frances Lee McCain, Scott Jacoby and Robert Wightman.

As the film begins we see Kavner's character Janet as a shy 21 year old woman who is placed in a home run by a caring and supportive couple, struggling to adapt to a new environment and different surroundings.

Things turn around for the better when she meets a fellow resident named Andrew who seems well adjusted , has two jobs and gets into trouble once in awhile, soon enough these two adults begin to grow and mature emotionally as his love and support changes her life.

One of my favorite scenes occurs near the end of the film when after standing up to her parents and receiving their approval to marry Andrew and Janet are reunited.

A poignant and wonderful film.

Do No Harm (2012 TV Movie)

Decent Television Thriller
4 August 2017
The first time I saw this movie was on Lifetime channel in 2014, it's at best a popcorn thriller with a simple plot that somehow manages to work well.

Do No Harm tells the story of an up and coming fashion designer who suffers a tragic loss when her fiancé dies in a plane accident, then for the next year is placed under the care of a psychiatrist who as the film continues begins to show a dark and obsessive side.

Lauren Holly as Dr. Thorne makes for an OK villain, she appears to be caring and compassionate , but later on she oversteps the line between doctor and patient when she begins stalking Emily (Russo), following her at the mall, sneaking into the spa when she's getting a massage, destroying her drawings at work and even planting seeds of doubt in the head of her new boyfriend Ian (Greene).

Sarah Allen as Gillian Stewart is supportive. She's the only one who stands by Emily and believes her, When she discovers the reason behind Thorne's motives for interfering in her best friend's life is shocking.

For fans of simple films watch Do No Harm. Give it a 5.2/10

Not Bad For A Remake Of A Classic Film
8 March 2017
First time I saw Beaches was during the premiere on Lifetime in January 2017 , one of the reasons why remakes are made is to introduce a new generation to a popular film with a new spin on it.

Idina Menzel's rendition of Bette Midler's Wind Beneath My Wings was amazing and sung so beautifully, the film retells the story of a friendship between two women from different backgrounds that spans from childhood to adulthood.

Nia Long's portrayal of Hillary Whitney was good, like Barbra Hershey in the original film her character goes through many changes beginning with befriending CC Bloom who wants to be a star to becoming a lawyer, wife and then eventually a single mother is handled well.

Fellow cast members Gabriella Pizzolo, Grace Capeless, Antonio Cupo, Colin Lawrence, Sanai Victoria , Jodi Capeless and Donny Lucas rounded out the cast perfectly.

I give this film a 6.3/ 10

A Grumpily Funny Sequel About Life & Love
4 March 2017
One of the things I like most about sequels is that they give viewers a chance to see the return of their favourite characters as well as being introduced to some new faces.

Walter Matthau & Jack Lemmon were the perfect choice to play Max Goldman & John Gustafson, their comedic timing was spot on and flawless. Other cast members Burgess Meredith, Kevin Pollak, Daryl Hannah, Katie Sagona, Ann Margret and Ann Morgan Guilbert delivered top notch performances.

Sophia Loren as Maria Sophia Coletta Ragetti is lovely and hilarious, her character is new to town and when she turns the bait shop into a restaurant it makes way for pranks and the unexpected happens when Max falls in love.

Many of the scenes during the film are filled with jokes and romance, one scene I found to be poignant occurs when John Gustafson goes to the couch by the lake to talk with his dad, only to discover that he's passed away. "Looks like god remembered you Pop" was a moving moment as it helped the two main characters to reconcile their feud once again.

The film ended with yet another wedding and another prank pulled in the honeymoon limousine, Grumpier Old Men proves that you're never too old for love and laughs.

I'd give it a 7.4 out of 10

A Great Story About A Love Worth Fighting For With Superb Performances By Kylie Minogue & Charlie Schlatter
24 August 2015
I saw this movie for the first time on you tube last week and found it to be a strong and moving love story. The Delinquents tells the tale of a young teenage couple in an Australian town in the 1950's who face opposition from parents, the law and other people for being together and in love.

Kylie Minogue is a talented individual not just in the music industry but also in acting as well, her portrayal of Lola Lovell was brilliant and heartfelt. Even though this is her first movie role she does a great job with the material given to work with.

Charlie Schlatter is sensitive and boyishly handsome as telegraph delivery boy Brownie Hansen, his character in the film is so sweet and his feelings so genuine.

What makes this story so unique is how the young couple fights to find a way to stay together despite forces trying to pull them apart time after time. Why this film has a rating of only 5.5/10 is surprising I'd give it a 6.4.

There's No Greater Friend To The Nerd Than The American DJ If We Weren't All Nerds Ourselves We'd Be On Television
2 August 2015
Revenge Of The Nerds Part III The Next Generation isn't one of the best entries in the hilarious franchise but it somehow manages bring a few laughs.

It was awesome to see the return of many familiar faces from the first film such as Robert Carradine, Curtis Armstrong, Brian Tochi, Julia Montgomery, Larry B. Scott, James Cromwell, Bernie Casey and Ted McGinley.

In this next chapter the nerds of past and present team up to regain control of the Adams College campus when it's taken over by the Alpha Betas led by fellow alumni Orrin Price (Morton Downey Jr.) and Stan Gable(McGinley).

When Gable is installed as the dean of students he uses his power to cause trouble for the new Tri- Lambs consisting of Harold Skolnick (Binkley), Ira, Steve Toyota (Cho) Malcolm Warner Pennington III (McBride) Trevor Gulf (Pinette) and Judy (Moglen).

In addition Lewis who hides his past is happily married to wife Betty he is concerned about being friends with the enemy

However after seeing Stan's true colors this causes Lewis to spring into action and return to his nerd self, assisting his nephew and friends in their battle of brains vs. brawn.

Surprisingly enough when Price's reign of trouble goes a step too far and Lewis gets accused of a crime he didn't commit, all of his old friends return to support him.

Seeing this causes the former jock to change his mind and stands up, admitting to being a nerd and testifies against Price leading to his arrest.

The movie ends on a happy note as the heroes celebrate victory once again.

Revenge Of The Nerds Part 3 The Next Generation does provide some great quotes and decent performances.

I'd give it a 5.2/10

We Flow Together Once & Forever Love Came For Me
31 July 2015
My brother bought this for me on DVD as a Christmas gift in 2006, every year on Valentine's Day I watch it because I'm a big fan of the romantic comedy genre.

Director Ron Howard with the help of writing team Babaloo Mandel & Lowell Ganz created a timeless, funny and enchanting romantic comedy that's so magical it's also classic. The cast is well selected, Tom Hanks is one of Hollywood's brightest stars I remember seeing him on television as Kip Wilson from Bosom Buddies and Ned Donnelly from a few episodes of Family Ties. His portrayal of a lonely businessman who falls for a woman with a secret was comical and sweet.

Darryl Hannah is lovely and whimsical as the mermaid, she doesn't act like a dumb blonde but rather a curious beauty trying to navigate through a world she's never been in before. The chemistry between her & Hanks is smart & touching. John Candy's break out role as Freddie Bauer Allen's older, bachelor womanizing brother was a laugh a minute great. There's a memorable scene in which Allen, Freddie and Dr. Kornbluth played by the brilliant Eugene Levy make a rescue plan to save Madison. She tells him not to feel guilty about not loving her anymore, He says "Oh Madison". "All the time we were together, you always knew how I was feeling. Can't you tell now? then they kissed. The song Love Came For Me sung by Rita Coolidge during the part where the happy couple swims away together and while the credits rolled was a moving moment.

Splash is one of 1984's best films not just for the comedy but also for the romantic fantasy displayed,I'd give it a 6.9/10.

Valley Girl (1983)

Punk Romeo Meets Preppy Juliet
9 July 2015
Valley Girl has become one of my favourite romantic comedies to watch because it's funny, classic and stylish. I bought it on DVD from Walmart a few years ago, it's like Romeo & Juliet meets the 1980's but with awesome music and a totally cool story.

Nicolas Cage at 19 was handsome and the perfect choice to play Randy a punk from the city who finds love with a girl from the valley, the cast includes Deborah Foreman as the love interest, Frederic Forrest & Colleen Camp as the hippie parents, Michael Bowen as the jock ex- boyfriend Elizabeth Daily, Heidi Hollicker & Michelle Meyrink as Julie's friends, and Cameron Dye as Randy's friend.

The story is simple Julie (Foreman) a girl from the Valley fed up with her boyfriend Tommy's (Bowen) attitude breaks up with him and begins to date Randy (Cage) a punk from Hollywood High. That's when the fun & romance takes off as they get to know each other by falling in love, however her friends Loryn, Susie & Stacey are disgusted and pressure her to end the relationship and go back to her ex. The most iconic scene occurs during the junior prom when Randy finally gets his revenge and a fight breaks out that ends with Julie dumping Tommy for the second time and reuniting with her true love. The end scene shows the young lovers departing into the night in a limousine and Modern English's I Melt With You playing during the credits.

For fans of 80's movies and romance Valley Girl is for sure to entertain and please anyone who enjoys good times and cool tunes.

A Delightfully Weird & Bizarre Good Time
23 February 2015
I remember the first time I saw The Rocky Horror Picture Show it was on a Friday afternoon, was spending the day with my sister and she chose this particular movie for me to watch. At first it seemed like a campy musical but as the story progressed it began to grow on me it's got everything from great musical numbers to excellent costumes, memorable scenes and wacky characters like Dr. Frank-n- Furter, Eddie a delivery boy and a whole variety of other strange individuals Some of my favourite songs from the movie include Hot Patootie (Bless My Soul), Damn It Janet, Sweet Transvestite and Touch- A- Touch-A-Touch-A- Touch Me. The elements of comedy, science fiction and horror are combined to create an amusing, pleasurable, nightmarish spectacle to watch again & again.
