American Masters: No Direction Home: Bob Dylan (2005)
Boring while waiting on the Bob Dylan parts
First of all I adore Bob Dylan and think he is the greatest songwriter of all time! Bob Dylan's simplicity is sheer perfection, nothing fake at all! Amazing his consistency to write great songs thru every decade. As well as I equally love his voice, his voice and music are the perfect marriage...all with no ego or a front as a star!
However I did not like this film, it was boring as I was only interested in Bob Dylan and not the others sorry..I'm a focus person, so my focus is Bob Dylan and that's all I wanted to see. Yes I understand it's important to show one's influences but Scorsese failed to present it properly. Scorsese is a talented technical film maker but he lacks in the air and magic why he has been overlooked many times: ( However a couple of his films were perfect. He is so grand that the smallest imperfection shadows his grand talent...
A bit of personal disappointment is that nearly every film maker and writer does not mention how Bob Dylan influenced Jimi Hendrix. This film mentions other's that covered his songs but no mention of Jimi Hendrix
Django Unchained (2012)
Awesome except the ending but I gave an 8
I read the screenplay before I viewed the film. Wow my vision was right on when I finally viewed the film. The filmed touched me and I cried a few times..The actors and direction was awesome. The ending sucked but that's okay...Ending was too commercial and quick to fit run time, cheesy sorry. But I loved the film and watched it over and over..Quentin always ask what was your favorite scene meaning pick one scene? Hmmm had a lot of favorite scenes, so I will say my first favorite scene is when the Doctor shots the Speck brother in trying to negotiate a deal to buy Django. I'm always excited to watch a Quentin Tarantino film and have never been let down.
Jimi: All Is by My Side (2013)
Sorry wasted my money on this movie. Acting was good however
Being a huge Hendrix fan, and studying, researching his life! "Mind you his own words and voice" The direction, writing sucked, the actors were good. Sad the actors were thrown in a bad band meaning the tone and writing were bad! Why? It was not all true ask the real Kathy!!! The film had a depressing tone...André Benjamin did a great job of capturing physical character and hats off for the voice but missed the beat. But hey who the hell could play Jimi 100%. I'm sure André Benjamin could have been greater with an Oliver Stone.
Really all the actors were good, just the band sucked (direction, writing, cinematography, tone, everything) True or not the direction and writing (band) sucked!
