Oz the Great and Powerful (2013)
What was Disney THINKING?!
While the visuals of this film are in step with it being a masterpiece, I'd like to know what Disney was thinking asking someone who is known for horror movies doing a 'family' film.
The acting was a disaster as Franko's interaction with any actress that he was supposed to be flirting with seemed forced. It is also NOT Disney to have a 'prince' blatantly cheating on a 'princess'. Even in the Little Mermaid, Prince Eric was under a spell and in the Pirates series, Will stayed true to Elizabeth even though Elizabeth 'cheated' on him by tricking Jack so that the crew can get away, leaving Jack with the ship.
In Pirates, you EXPECT clothes to be ripped off, NOT in Oz. I thought it was in poor taste that Theodora began tearing her dress off as she became the Wicked Witch. This is a CHILDREN'S STORY! I think that if Walt Disney were alive today, he'd be horrified that his name was associated with this.
Whoever did the costume design also didn't do their research very well because this film was SUPPOSED to be set in the early 1900s. In the early 1900s women did NOT wear pants, and Theodora is in pants for at least 15 minutes of the film.
If this movie was in line with how L. Frank Baum wrote the Wizard, I've read all the books, and there are more ways to show that the wizard is a con man then having him flirt with every female in sight. In point of fact, I hated this movie save for the visuals and the fact that they put in the flying monkey and the China girl.

This is NOT the Potter You're Looking For...
Hey! It Harry Potter! XD Oh wait... it's not! Why is that my summary and opening line? Well, I am a great fan of Harry Potter and look for movies of similar content and quality and then, well... I found this and now I just want to gouge out my eyes.
If you are a fan of Harry Potter, with the great cast of actors that actually have acting ability, please take my advice and AVOID this movie like the plague! There's no emotion in this film at all. The kid bully, and his angry face was about the only emotion I saw in this film. I take that back, this hero kid is supposed to be worried according to the narrator, but I think he's confused on looking worried, because he just looks and acts depressed, and either way, I supposed that could be counted as emotion.
The guardian is a troll, alright, I get that, since you can't have a half giant due to copyright and all of that but SURELY you can hire someone to do make up rather than purchasing some cheap dollar store mask, yes? We have the bully and he head bad guy chasing after the kid and his friends in the forest, but - oh, wait, they're just there, their not CHASING them, we'll just stand here and yell, okay? The set design in the 'spooky' cave is simply dreadful and the kids show know fear, or emotion at ALL in times of danger, and I've seen FAN videos that have done a better job than this. This is most definitely not worth the hour and a half long show. I strongly suggest giving it a pass. Now I'm going to go crawl in my bed and hopefully some REAL Harry Potter will help soothe my aching head.

Get Your Facts Straight
Warning: This review contains spoilers!
I recently watched this movie via Netflix and I have to say that I am thoroughly disappointed. The tag-line and the summary SOUNDED good so I watched it. The beginning was okay and the acting was decent, but the writer of this story needed to seriously check their facts before putting this one out. It is no wonder that with a movie like this out there Pagans and Witches get a bad wrap for being Satanists. Witches and Pagans WERE NOT Devil worshipers!! That was the stigma that the Christian church put on them to cause fear and panic to help weed them out so that the Christian church could take over as the dominant religion. Neither did they sacrifice humans or animals, though the Christians often did both - see the sacrificial lamb and Jesus for examples along with the Witch 'Trials'. I find it irritating when things like this are misrepresented.
