Arthur's Whisky (2024)
Well someone earned a easy pay check
So this has to be one of the worst movies ever made , the actors are barely in it , they obviously agreed to some quick easy bucks , their younger counterparts are absolutely nothing like them ... don't even sound like them either . Acting is so over the top and the scenes are just cobbled together . Worst of all Diane Keaton is by far the most over the top annoying actress in Hollywood and this role is no exception, apart from being woody Allen's most ardent fan ( enough a reason alone to cancel her ) she adds a annoying cheesy ness I've always found like nails on a chalk board ... this film sucks and it's a shame cause the idea is kinda cool.
Only Murders in the Building (2021)
Just gets better and better
I absolutely love this genre and only murders in the building does exactly what it's meant to . It's fun and camp and silly and the plots just keep getting better and better . Season two was brilliant . It goes into all the typical murder mystery themes , cast of suspects , theatre , murder mystery parties . I just love love love it . Season three opens with a murder in stage how perfect and the addition of some big name faces ... just feel like yiu can stitch of and become absorbed in the fun ... the mysteries are always complex and you just have to follow along for all the clues as they do . Love this show.
Magpie Murders (2022)
Loved this almost as much as a Agatha Christie
This is so good so clever , just plain old entertaining. It really keeps your attention the whole way through and is. Really interesting idea . The two stories set along side each other layering the mystery . The cast are really good too , it doesn't seem to cheaply done either or too day time tv. It has a proper feel to it and it's just so well done . I honestly haven't enjoyed anything this much for a while .I really hope they make a season two , as I watched all of these in two days . If you like murder mystery something that makes you think and really exercise the little grey cells .... This is for you.
Glass Onion (2022)
Friggen brilliant
Okay so maybe it's because it's Christmas Day and I've had a few Buck's Fizz but I thought this was absolutely awsum .. funny clever and held my attention for the whole run time , what's not to love about this murder island mystery . Cool cast , Edward Norton is particularly funny .thought it was even better than the first , Which I loved too . I hope they make more of these to me the perfect movie is a ensemble cast of fabulous actors and a mystery well written with lots of turns and surprises. They are the modern day Agatha Christie's and in my opinion the perfect movie , one I will watch again and again. I can't believe the bad reviews on here ... we're we watching the same thing ... this movie is brilliant well done Netflix.
The Banshees of Inisherin (2022)
Watched it twice first day
Dont wish to sound patronising but if any one writes perhaps they missed the point yes ... indeed you did . This is like one of the plays from Samuel Beckett I live so much ... it's thought provoking and is not actually about what your watching ... it's about so much more , it's meant to make you think.and it does just that , beautiful scenery although it doesn't add to their life in any way , it's funny , clever , symbolic, beautiful, sad and just different.... Loved it so much I watched it twice in one day. Acting is superb and I really hope they win something for it ...so refreshing to watch something with some depth.
Troppo (2022)
The reviews ain't wrong
Brilliant just brilliant, the main characters relationship is fantastic, the acting is top notch the story almost a second to just watching these two on screen ,it's the sort of pairing you don't see that often as it just works so bleeding well , concanffy is friggen great and they both okay list wronged souls that find friendship with each other . Loved every thing about this and really hope it comes back for a second series . Wasn't sure what to expect thought it might be a cheep tv drama ... it's not it's a stylish noir with a some really weighty acting thrown in ...the back ground stories develope along side the other mysteries and both have twists and turns that keep you hooked . Stuck for something to watch .. this is so worth a go.
The Gray Man (2022)
What's the problem it's pretty good
This is pretty good the action and fight scenes are fantastic and it moves along at a good pace ... if you want a easy watching fun thrill this is better than John wick 2-3 easily ... the bad reviews seem to be a little movie snobbery if you ask me ... it's good fun what's not to like.
The Ninth Gate (1999)
One of my top 10
So this film over the years is like a old friend ... I never tire of it ... I'm not really sure why I like it so much it's just a very watchable movie ... touches of mystery the occult and a good musical accompaniment... the concept is intriguing... and of course at the end you want to follow him through the ninth gate .... Perhaps that's why I keep watching it.
McDonald & Dodds (2020)
Love love love
So wasn't sure at first kept with it as I'm a sucker for a murder mystery but I have to say series 3 is the best so far , now they have gotten rid of the stupid chief and gotten a smart sassy woman who actually believes in her detectives... it's all shaping up nicely ... who doesn't love a kitche British easy to watch murder mystery... a wonderful way to spend a hour and a half I wish they did more.
Whiplash (2014)
One of my all time favourites
So if you see a negative review of which there are only a few ... they are the most stupid pretentious ramblings you'll ever have the misfortune to read ... ignore them ... it's just a great film....it's acted insanely well ...and the final scene .what can you say ..it actually evokes a physical response...you will feel happy exhilarated intense joyful even !!!! I have watched it loads of times and the ending is always fantastic... I think not only because it is hold your breath exciting... but because there is something really satisfying about them both getting what they wanted from the other one. Now I don't now about high brow details lol or jazz but this is what a movie should be a journey a story and a ending that makes you smile and want to download caravan on Spotify.
The Bubble (2022)
Worst movie I have ever seen
What the hell is this .... Literally the worst thing I have ever seen it's not even remotely funny ... think they were trying to copy tropic thunder and failed beyond belief !!!!!!
Pieces of Her (2022)
Starts of great down hill big time
So while this is very binge watchable .. had Toni not been in it , you would think you were watching proper tv trash ! 1st the beginning is pretty good sets you up for thinking this is going to be a slick layered thriller ... it's not it just gets dumber and dumber ..2nd it's so full of plot holes it's like Swiss cheese .. I mean why are the mother and daughter set of on different scary tangents when witness protection could pull them both in .. avoid the attack at home and explain the situation to the daughter ... conclusion ..well there would be no program .. I mean it's almost funny that there actually is no drama or plot all all other than them running round creating one ! Kinda watchable though but wowzer I had thought it would be better.
Hypnotic (2021)
How dumb are they ? How dumb are we ?
So I read a book with this concept years ago and it was terrifying... she slowly ... stress slowly begun to think something was wrong ... eventually secretly filmed the doctor abusing her at night as she was totally hypnotised ... this film on the other hand is just awfull ... to obvious ... people are to stupid ...make stupid decisions... and well it just sucks ... no thrills no mystery no scares no nothing , good idea very crap film.
Marvel One-Shot: All Hail the King (2014)
Love it
All hail the king .... Can they please do a movie with Ben kingley in he's a acting genius and this is a awsum character , it would be great to develop this into a full length movie or at least use this character again it's brilliant.
Sex/Life (2021)
What's not to like
So yes it's stupid yes it's cringy but yes it's also fantastic , first episode I thought wow this is bad but just let yourself enjoy it , and it's gets totally engrossing, who doesn't like brad and billie.
A Dark Song (2016)
What a great surprise
I thought this film looked low budget and was probably going to be a load of rubbish but wow was I wrong , interesting, clever well acted and the end I have literally googled to death in the hopes it might just be reall ...
Staged (2020)
Completely engrossing
Loved this , wasn't sure at first tried a couple of times , first episode might at a glance seem boring ... but keep going it turns out to be a total delight , like chatting with very entertaining famous friends if you had them ,the chemistry between Micheal and David is fab , loved it hope there is a season 3
The Peanut Butter Falcon (2019)
The cutest film ever
What a lovely lovely film , smiled ,laughed and cried , this is one of those warm films that I usually don't fancy watching but it's not depressing it's uplifting and cute and the acting is superb, can't recommend it enough , better than all the boring films up for a Oscar , loved it !!!!!
Patient Zero (2018)
The worst film I've ever watched
What the hell was that ... it was almost funny it was so bad .... almost .... how are there actual well known actors in this film ... and the budget ???? And the script ??? Oh ... just ... no
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
Perfect rainy day viewing
I absolutely loved this from start to finish it is ideal cozy viewing, while it's not overly scary it's a settle in a escape story with a gothic vibe , after watching six episodes in a row though I had nightmares about ghosts , it's almost like the writers are letting us in on the secrets of the afterlife , and the story of the lady in lake is just how I imagine ghosts that haunt come to pass , very cleverly done ! In the end it's more of a love story than a horror though but a perfect way to spend a rainy day snuggled on the couch
The Last of Sheila (1973)
Best film ever
I remembered watching a murder mystery set on a boat as a small child and had never seen it since ,it haunted me what was that film ???? then the internet arrived 30 odd years later and I googled said film and AHHA found it !!!!! and it was as brilliant as I remembered, pure Sunday afternoon Murder mystery at its best , my all time favourite film how it's not well known is beyond me
Death on the Nile (1978)
My favourite film of all time
Love this film love Bette Davis and Maggie smith sparring but most of all Peter hustinov s poirit is by far the best poirot ever
The Happytime Murders (2018)
Entertaining
Muppets and murders what a enjoyable little movie , what are people moaning about , this is a fun movie and I hope they make a sequel
