He's All That (2021)
I personally liked, but if you love the original one, you might be disappointed
The majority of the reviews talk about the bad acting and some poor technical stuff. They are right, although I liked Addison performance considering it's her first major role. The little sister is a really good actress and Rachael is stunning as always.
Now, about the storyline. People need to understand that 90's have passed. This movie wasn't made for those who liked the original one, but for teens who watch netflix. And, in this days, tiktok and other social medias are what they like, that's simple. I'm a nostalgic too - I watched She's All That because of this, not because it's a masterpiece - but I try to forget nostalgia when I'm watching a high school movie from 2021.
I could give it a 7, even an 8, but what did they do with Kiss Me exceeded the limits of my goodwill. That was too much.
In short, if you want a movie like the old ones, don't waste your time. But if you want a not-brillant heartwarming teen movie of modern times, just to turn off the brain and smile, He's All That is a good choice.
Talvez uma História de Amor (2018)
Surprisingly good
Actually, I think it is quite underrated. A feel-good movie that we usually don't see coming from Brazil. Fine actors, good pace and some laughing moments. About the characters, they are okay, especially considering that it is a romantic comedy with a plot that might be taken as cliché. In the end, the movie is good and worth a watch. To summarize everything, let's say I will recommend you to watch in a cold Sunday afternoon plus a box of chocolates. It's exactly this type of movie.
W glebi lasu (2020)
Successful in mystery, flawed in plot
I don't normally write here. In fact, I don't even master English writing. Therefore, I apologize for any serious mistake. But I felt the need to warn you of what is to come by watching this show.
If you like mystery, you may even like the series to some extent. It's the type that holds you in front of the TV, that makes you want to go through episode by episode without stopping for a glass of water.
The problem is the holes in the script and the lack of explanations for the events, especially in the final half, when some facts are throw on screen without any basis just to justify later situations. The characters' inexplicable attitudes are frequent and their respective developments are more like patchwork quilts. All of this leads to an ending that leaves more questions than answers.
Europe has been producing interesting shows lately. But this is not one of them, although it is far from a horrible show. It is watchable. For those looking for a dose of mystery, it is a good choice. However, those looking for script quality, plausible development and a good pace next to the mystery, stay away.
