Too Funny to Fail: The Life & Death of The Dana Carvey Show (2017)
Really interesting Documentary
I had just finished one documentary and this was up next so I said "why not?" I barely remember this show, pretty sure I may have watched it once because he was the Church Lady after all. Someone on here complains about it being a "boys club", well YAH, look who the boys were. I had NO clue who the females were so why would they have much screen time when you are dealing with Dana Carey, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, and Bill Hader, who by the way got little screen time. I just enjoyed how the more they were pushed, the more they pushed back and how much of what they did in the 7 shows that aired in 96 would have caused such and uproar (not PC) today. I am glad I stumbled onto it.
The Upside (2017)
Where are the ONE star reviews coming from???
Seriously I am guessing some people either have a stick up their tush or just want to bring Kevin Hart or Brian Cranston down. I laughed through 90% of the movie with the remaining 10% reserved for tears. The chemmistry is on point between the two, heck the entire cast. Not to mention...NO SUBTITLES. Go see this movie if you want an entertaining laugh out loud movie.
Searching (2018)
Just See It!
I am not one of those people that puts a lot into my reviews. I am not the person who looks for the hidden message in a movie. I go to movies or rent movies for complete entertainment value and this is definitely a movie that will throw you for a loop. I will say the way it was filmed is VERY unique. But back to the story, as the viewer you try to guess the who, what, when, where and why and if you can you are better than I.Enjoy!
Unsane (2018)
Great Psychological Thriller
I do not think people understand this movie. It is a psychological thriller. You can assume that if this place is as crooked as it appears they would find a way to keep the main character hospitalized. The way it is filmed gives it an even darker appearance. I have watched it twice. The first time I could not decide who was crazy and who was not. The thriller aspect had me on the edge of my seat and the ending had me wondering, "wow, maybe she is crazy."
I gave it a 7 because her mother was killed yet she did not seem to be too traumatized. It is a great Friday night go to movie.
The Gift (2015)
First Time a Movie Has Me Rooting for the Antagonist
I had no expectations going into this movie. I new only what I saw on a commercial and that I saw maybe twice. It was a girls night out and a friend who had seen it gave it a thumbs up so we said, sure, why not. I would say it started slow for me but I do now understand why. You really have to get a feel for the main characters so you can almost understand and get a final feeling for them in the end. I had a bit of a difficult time with the choice of female lead in Rebecca Hall but I now understand I think she was wrestling with what she felt was an underlying suspicion or feeling she could not shake or understand. You will understand what I mean when you see it. I also ended up truly disliking Justin Bateman's character and made me wonder if this is what some of the people in the corporate world were like growing up and are like now. Heck, maybe even the Hollywood world. Dog eat dog, win at all cost. I really enjoyed this movie because it did have it's moments of "oh my, what's next" to "I never saw that coming." Not to mention I also enjoyed the cinematography. Go see it, you won't be disappointed.
Unbroken (2014)
Longest 2 Hrs. of My Life
I could not WAIT for this movie to come out. I "listened" to the book on my drive out west and it was started the day Louie Z passed away which made reading this book even more intense. I was hoping the movie would cast the same spell over me but it only really addressed one aspect of his life and I felt it was a HUGE MISS. It missed so many other areas that were just as fascinating. The dialogue was almost non-existent as well. It was almost like watching Castaway but with violence. Sorry Angelina you missed the boat!
IF you feel you must see it, then wait until it comes out on PPV don't waste your money and time.
