A Nice Girl Like You (2020)
Solid RomCom
Rom Coms follow formulas. This movie is no different, but there are enough small surprises to keep me interested. Let's talk about Lucy Hale. Only became aware of her recently through some other flicks. She is cute and charming and can fit into any Rom Com. I think I could watch her in anything. I'm really glad I stumbled on to this movie. It's harmless fun even though it's kind of predictable at times. Now I'm on a mission to find all Lucy Hale movies. She should be declared the queen of romantic comedies. All Hale the queen! I guess I'm just a sucker for a pretty face. And she has one! What movie is she gonna steal my heart in next?
Spin Me Round (2022)
Not What I thought
Well that was a surprise. I excepted a standard issue romcom. It isn't. It was kind of a murder mystery without a murder. I was into it the whole time. It was fast paced enough to keep me interested throughout. I really didn't see the ending coming! The cast was great. Alison Brie is cute as heck and is proving to be a great leading actress. I was confused by Audrey Plaza's character and she was written off unexpectedly. Overall, I recommend this flick. It moves quickly and is entertaining. I think it's original too. Thought it would be a spoof of Olive Garden but took a cool and unexpected left turn.
The Neon Demon (2016)
Skip it
Absolute garbage. So much of it makes no sense. It was slow and creepy. Is it considered an art house movie? It's an outhouse movie. So boring. I guess it tried to be shocking at times but it came off as cheesy. Elle Fanning is way better than this sack of poo. Maybe I need an explanation. I just did not get it. Everything about it is a boring confusing misfire. Was this actually released in theaters? I feel dumb enough watching on Prime. If I wasted money in a theater I would be furious. If you are considering watching this, do yourself a favor and skip it. Pretty much every other movie in history is better!
No Hard Feelings (2023)
Put your PC attitude and cancel culture aside for 2 hours.
Yes! Some content in this movie is gonna trigger some folks. Good. It's actually a rom-com disguised as a raunchy T&A flick. Kudos to the producers for striking a balance and upsetting all the usual basement dwelling critics. This movie is a welcome change. Jennifer Lawrence is the new go to comedic actress. She was great and looks fantastic. I am allowed to say I think she's hot by the way. I am gonna see it again. I hope they make multiple sequels. Each one dirtier than the last one. Maybe the PC fog is lifting? This movie will make back its budget easily. Not so sure the latest DC bore fest can say that.
