Oppenheimer (2023)
A glorified documentary
Well I guess if you're a person that just hates documentaries and will never watch them on tv (like my wife) this film is an excellent opportunity to learn a thing or two about the origins of the A-bomb. The film is long(about 3 hours), slow paced and filled with political jargon but visual effects and great acting will keep you awake.
On the other hand if you're a history buff , just avoid it. It'll be like watching a rerun of the last Oppenheimer documentary you've seen just way noisier. You'll feel the film lacks drama, suspense and emotion. The director mr. Nolan atempts to correct this by using never ending flash-backs and flash-forwards. It doesn't work mr. Nolan. If anything it just annoys the viewers
James Cameron got it right when he added the story of Jack and Rose to Titanic. Or the countkess other directors that have added fiction to their historical films to spice em up a bit.
All said I still believe Oppenheimer will probably sweep the Oscar's. Mainly due to publicity this film got and to the fact most films been released since covid have been subpar.
Snowpiercer (2020)
Post-Apocalypse train tickets for sale
Wilford industries : Don't freeze to death. Buy your tickets aboard our luxury post-apocalyptic train today. Why hide in a bunker or under a boring dome. 1 billion dollars buys you and your family a luxury stateroom with all amenities paid. You'll be happy and safe knowing that your hostess is also the conducter, engineer and head of security. But the greatest perk of all ofcourse is the thrill of not knowing how you'll die. Will it be derailment, famine, disease or preferably a stab wound from a disgruntled 3rd class employee or pesky stowaway that decided he wants your stateroom and maybe sleep with your daughter. Tickets are on sale now don't delay
I guess this is how mr. Wilford got all those billionairs to invest in his train.
Damien (2016)
Oh man this is stupid
Loved the Omen so I had high hopes for this series. The premier episode wasn't that bad but as the series progressed the story line got weaker ,too predictable and boring as hell !!!As the story goes Damien has grown up to be a clueless yuppie reporter who is more interested in chasing after black tail than bringing hell on earth. He is just too dumb and nice to be the Antichrist .The rest of the cast walks a gray line between good and evil leaving viewers indifferent or bored out of their minds. The only cast members saved from this silly parody and
with some great acting skills are the rotties.Hence the 3 stars .I will increase my rating once they manage to chew up the rest of the cast along with the writers and director.
Believe (2014)
Another boring series
Another series closely related to Steven King's Carrie. The first couple of episodes were descent and then it was all downhill from there. A 7.3 rating? Seriously? Episodes 3 through 12 were painfully similar. In every episode a little orphan girl named Bo with unharnessed mental powers wakes up from a nightmare/vision knowing she has to help someone avoid death or find a loved one or whatever. In the meantime she has to avoid getting nabbed by this government aided sleazy scientist who wants to use her abilities as a weapon (Surpise surprise!). The only suspense to this whole charade is that the main clown she's running around the country with is her wrongfully imprisoned and now on the run long-lost daddy. My 8 year old daughter watched this crap and I had to watch while baby-sitting.Boy I'm so glad it got canceled.I'm sure the writers from this show will have a hard time finding another paycheck ever again
