The Descent (2005)
Not worth the time spent watching it !!!!!
My wife and I watched this together. We were able to predict who would die, and in what order within the first 10 minutes of the "film". The characters make all of the predictable mistakes from every "b" horror flick ever written. Unlike all of our beloved "b" movies, there is no nudity, sensuality, or really any excuse to be such a piece of crap. What is really bothersome is the fact that it tries to be somehow "cerebral" (very pointlessly and poorly) in it's delivery. Want a good horror flick? try "House of 1000 Corpses" now that is a masterpiece of American horror.
Alex I would rather slit my wrists than watch this crap again. No sex. Women bitching. Embassrassingly stupid. All of them dumb and on pms. elizabeth
Compagna di viaggio (1996)
love asia!
Asia Argento was so sadly beautifully in the film that it really kept me wondering what she would go through next. she shadows an aging professor (piccoli), whose daughter, ada, has hired her to follow around rome so that he would not get lost in town. then he travels all across europe and she follows him wondering where they would end up next. it ends up with asia'a character, cora, growing up and taking responsibility for her own actions and a developing a true compassion for the professor and eventually herself. (she disagrees with her brother to kidnap the prof and instead helps him get away). along the journey, cora discovers herself and a direction to move her life into. before her enlightenment, cora sleeps with various men to seemingly distract herself from her apparent depression and tries to kill herself later by jumping off a bridge after making friends with a girl working at a factory near the bridge. the "baptism" seems to awaken her to the positive possibilities of life and in the end she runs into the prof again and seems to feel a comfort that they are in this big world together as travelling companions. i love asia argento and bought the DVD! love asia!
Beautiful Joe (2000)
i liked it!
I usually don't go for the sappy movies, however, if you find yourself in the mood, this movie is a really good one. billy (joe) is an awesome nice guy and really cute and lovable Scottish accent (his own). sharon (alice) is awesome (with a cute southern accent) as the albatross around her own and her kids' neck but learns her lesson about what's important in the end. joe's long-time family friend turns out to be the hit-man on joe's and alice's tail (hired by the bad bookies). and so the bad guys get it in the end while joe's brain tumor operation goes well, and alice and the kids (whom have fallen for joe as well) are at his bedside to be there for him, as he was for their little family. sappy but cuter than a junebug!
The Irrefutable Truth About Demons (2000)
Excellent Pointless B-Horror entertainment
The movie is fantastic!!! It's campy, awesome, with senseless T&A, and a bit of gore just to make sure it rocks. My wife and I loved it. Also, there is a Philip K. Dickian moment where the protagonist is convinced that he is doing too much dope, and you kinda want to believe that the problem is so simple. Which brings you to the end, where the same effect is used. 8/10 For campy, creative, psychological fun.
P.S. Mywife loved the "Good" Chicks' outfits.
O.K, I will Say More get the comment in. I liked the "is he crazy or happy?" aspect of the flick. This to me, is what deepens it from you're average Hollywood gore flick. Lack of special effects demands more psychological/character interest to get a flick to work Who Knows who is winning this crazy ordeal we call life.
