Tombstone Pillow (2019)
A Very compelling advocacy short film, about the poorest of the poor living at the Historical North Cemetery in Manila
Lou Baron stars in a very compelling film.
A role she is really committed to do, I intend to offer it for consideration in the various international film festivals, especially Cannes," she said.
The screenplay was written by British scriptwriter Fraser Scott, the movie was shot entirely in the Philippines amid the backdrop of poverty in the country, Directed by: Daniel Lir and Bayou Bennet
The story will revolve around people surviving and living in a cemetery, imposing rather a dreary reality, that will evoke humanity's dark side and eventually the good, like an "inner space" in this short film .
Lou Baron plays Olivia a filthy rich widow, who was married to a corrupt politician, a condescending character, maybe even diabolical so Lou is took up one on one acting lessons in the US.
Although the story will have- a dramatic turn around when her character Olivia meets the ghost of a young girl in the graveyard-- the ghostly apparition will change her evil demeanor, "I will become a kind person because of her," Lou added.
Ang guro kong 'di marunong magbasa (2017)
The situation has been hailed as a social commentary...
Its Brilliant on all counts, the story telling resonates what mainstream media will not report. The Actors are great in their craft, The Director/ Writer was prolific, inspired by real events, seriously, it's worth anyone's salt. It's worth the effort and the money on the viewers side. Brilliant just Brilliant. A problematic film. Director Perry Escano presented to audiences with no easy identifiable central narrative.Different stories interweave at a meandering pace throughout the movie, but none is given more weight than the brutal and violent death of Aquil, followed by the Childhood and education that the child warriors were forced to leave.I have not seen a movie that made me feel a rush of different emotions while watching, It made me shed a tear or two. It's a Must See movie!
Heneral Luna (2015)
Heneral Luna the Movie: Creating a Large Argument about Philippine History
Heneral Luna grossed 100 M in Philippine theaters nationwide, capturing the interest of the Oscars (while battling for slots in commercial cinemas) as the Best Foreign Language Film in 2016. Creating a large argument and review about the myths and facts of Philippine history. Audiences lamenting its pull out from commercial driven cinemas. Heneral Luna is History ... that came alive-- in its truest form-- not a sugar coated depiction of one's heroism. Those in character, played off the flaws and weaknesses and the strong points of Luna and Aguinaldo and other major and minor players during the Philippine revolutionary era, strategically touching the humanity of real life heroes and antagonists--bringing us back in time and maybe making us feel exactly what these heroes felt, provoking, stimulating and mesmerizing audiences from different echelons of society as it works on its viewers psychologically, emotionally and intellectually with mixed reviews. "Bayan o Sarili!"(Country or self!) a dialogue in the film blurted out by actor JohnArcilla has become a "day to day" by word.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (1999)
I have been a Fan of Law & Order for the longest time...probably Bejamin Bratt's Time
I have been a fan, sometimes the episode is good sometimes not...but I've always waited for the next Best thing on SVU. Thumbs up to all the hard work they did on this series. I do watch the re- runs here in Manila, and I hope there will be a reboot of SVU...as a full length movie in the future.
Eagle Squad (1989)
A nice Action movie that placed Filipino Thespians and Action Stars on the Map...
The story line was smooth, cinematography was alright. The Actors Robin Padilla, Monsour Del Rosario and Julio Diaz were just starting to make a name when this movie was done, way back in my 20's at the turn of a century. Looking back...this era was still a part of the Golden years of Philippine cinema.
Ip Man (2008)
A Reveting film about Martial Arts, A history of two Iconic Men stunningly---retold
The story telling set in China, gives the viewer a Glimpse of Chinese Culture and Kung Fu a Nostalgic trip along the streets of China. Spine tingling with the appearance of the Young Bruce Lee, makes a Martial Arts fan sigh. An educational film for Martial Arts practitioners, and Actors. The film is Enigmatic.
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012)
Fusing Fiction and a real life historical figure is amazing, great work.
I definitely enjoyed it. To fuse fiction and History is ingenuity... the creators and their artistry is great, they put hard work into this. It is all worth it.It keeps viewers thinking...and at the edge of their seats! The civil war as a backdrop is educating. A bit heart wrenching as well. A great piece.
