Élite (2018)
Rare when every character gets equal chance to show their evolution
I loved it! This is one of the few shows where each character gets a chance to complete their arc. All 3-4 parallel plots are elaborated well throughout and you are not left to wonder what happened to some him/her. Acting was top notch.
Gyalsey: Legacy of a Prince (2015)
A comical love story with a teaspoon of sexism
I watched the movie at it's screening in the Bhutan Week, New Delhi event. "Gyalsey: Legacy of a Prince" is a shot at presenting the tale of two polar opposite personalities. Like most of the Bhutanese films, the witticism seemed to have been inspired by Bollywood, hence a little too predictable for an Indian movie go-watcher.
There was especially one account on which the movie severely failed. It took an extremely mild view on sexism, justifying stalking and acts of gross misconduct under the banner of humor.
On the acting front, Wangchuk and Sonam were tremendous, while Sonam Tenzin didn't quite do justice to her character.
13 Reasons Why (2017)
It will make lost spirits to think over..
If I could ever watch a TV series for the first time again, it would be this one.
13 reasons why? The title starts with the number 13, ever so popular for its unluckiness.
Well, this is for the first time that a TV tale has moistened my eyes. Hannah Baker, the not so sorted, the ever so emotional, the deeply hurt, the elegant, the beautiful, the unlucky one, like the number 13 is one of the most crafted fictional characters I have ever encountered. The only thing I wish she could have done better was in understanding Clay.
The direction was impeccable, the little details shown to make the viewer aware of the past and the present. Be it Clay's forehead injury, the change in the shades of light, the audience were always left in utter awe and wonder.
Over the last month, I deeply lost my own survival reasons, this show helped me, gave me a vision of what are the repercussions of feeling nothing, feeling suicidal, suiciding. I really think it will improve the perspectives of people of every age group and everyone would start appreciating what they have. Speak up when they feel suffocated.
